The last several weeks I've been voting for Florida. But, due to the low scoring games that their offense has been producing including against non-ranked teams. The Longhorns didn't seem to have this problem Saturday. So, with all due respect to the gators NOT THIS TIME... The Longhorns deserve what they've worked, Florida shouldn't be voted for their popularity or for being National Champions. They do not look like the same team that they were a year ago. Last year they were blowing everybody out of the water including teams that were in the Top 25 ranking. Give the Longhorns the reign this time. They've destroyed Oklahoma, Oklahoma State in their backyard. They've gave the Red Raiders their revenge, and pretty much dominated the Big 12 although the conference has weakened a little this year. Alabama should still remain at #3 as two weeks ago they almost lost on their home turf! Not a good sign! However, the Tides are a very strong team and I believe they will beat out Florida in the S.E.C Championship game
These three are the best due to the strength of most of the teams they have played. All have played some weaker teams but most are power-houses and play tough. The SEC is a killer conference where being undefeated really means something. Yesterday, Alabama played the way they should. Now, on to ending the season undefeated so that Florida is in the cross-hair. We won't mind playing Texas for the mythical championship! Roll Tide
Gator fans everywhere are excited about completing our schedule undefeated and meeting Alabama in Atlanta again. First we hope our team keeps its mind on business against FIU and then against our biggest rival FSU. If I was an Alabama fan I would study yesterday's Auburn Geogia game. Like Florida, Alabama has not been the offensive jugernaght you would expect from a 10-0 team and the Tigers put up some impresive numbers this season. End the end the road to the national championship game for the Gators must go through the Georgia Dome. I have been to that match up a number of times and it is always a great experience and a hard fought contest. Go Gators!
You have got tobe kidding! The SEC has the weakest conference in the nation. Besides Alabama and Florida, who else is there? LSU? come on! Arkansas? Please! South Carolina and VAnderbilt HA HA. Try play real teams like Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State(who beat Georgia by the way) and Texas Tech. Number 1 teams should not be playing cakewalk schedules. Alabama squeaks by Arkansas and Ole Miss. Florida has tough times with vanderbilt and other marshmellow teams. Please play a number 1 schedule before you crown yourselves Number 1. Colt McCoy will take them apart. Hook 'em Horns!!!!!!
Dude wake up SEC is no match for anyone. There is no tougher confernce
Texas's best win is against ___________?
Oklahoma and Texas Tech....they might not have been blow outs but it was all about redemption.
In today's poll Texas 's best win is against #12 Oklahoma St. And who is Alabama and or Florida's best win against _________? In today's poll? From what I see it's #10 LSU.
Gators all the way!
Go Gators!
David Texas best win is simply against whatever team they are playing. Oh, I forgot to mention, wins not of 2,6, 7 pts but massive wins most of the time and without controversal ?????? calls. You SEC folks and Pac Ten folks just cannot handle the truth. Bye-bye USC, Bye-bye Flordia, Bye-bye Alabama if you ever get to play Texas. If the BCS Championship does not include Texas, then the whole BCS thing is a hoot and the guys with the votes should be replaced. By the way, I am a die-hard Sooner fan.
You are joking right? I am an ACC fan, but even I can see Texas gets smoked by UF if they play. SEC definitely toughest conference to go undefeated in
Kyle, Texas D is no joke I assure you. I can't wait to shut you SEC (or whoever) peeps up. Texas is gonna put a whoop ass on whichever Quarterback we play against like they don't get in the SEC OR the ACC. Texas D has already sidelined 3 QB's this season alone...remember Bradford. How long did he play in the game before he went down...? Same thing gonna happen to tebo if he tries to run against Texas.
Run tebo, Run!!
Longhorns #1
Hook 'Em!

Disclosure: I am a Gators fan. Until someone beats the Gators they are still number one. They have a rough in state rivalry game with FSU that has proved to be a spoiler game more than once. Then they have Alabama. Unless they find an offense and tune the defense, they wont win that game. Then whomever has Texas looming. We will find out just how good Texas is when they meet the winner of the SEC Championship. I do hope TCU gets a good berth though so we can see just how good they really are.
I tip my hat to both Florida and Texas. Both are great teams with great quarterbacks. Roll Tide!
Bama is Number 1, over Texas ESPECIALLY and will prove it by beating Florida. Bama has played a tougher schedule since the very first game, and has beaten more ranked teams and more quality opponents than Texas by far. Bama's ranked and quality opponents: Va Tech, Arkansas, Ole Miss, SC, TN, LSU, Miss St, and Auburn. Florida's schedule is very similar to Bama's in quality because of common SEC opponents. Texas only has 2 quality opponents this season: Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, who would only be about as competitive as Missisippi State and Auburn in the SEC this year. Although QB McElroy is no Tebow, his stats are practically the same this season. Bama has a better defense AND a good offense this year, and plenty of motivation and talent to clean Florida's clock.
TEBOW:
Completed 114 passes out of 173 attempts
1531 total passing yards
65.9 completion percentage
8.85 yards passing average
77 yards - longest pass
11 touchdowns
4 interceptions
21 sacks
156.59 rating
MCELROY:
Completed 140 passes out of 236 attempts
1721 total passing yards
59.3 completion percentage
7.29 yards passing average
80 yards - longest pass
11 touchdowns
4 interceptions
9 sacks
132.57 rating

Roll Tide!
Let's see Texas crushed UCF 35-3 who beat #13 Houston yesterday. The non-quality win against #12 Okla. St was a 41-14 road win. This weak school, Okla St. 'gasp' beat an SEC team, Georgia, this year. So in your figuring where does that put Georgia in the SEC? Below Vanderbilt?
It seems to me that the most dominant team has been TCU - now its true that they dont play the same opponents as the top 3 but Florida has really struggled just to win at times as has Texas as has Alabama. TCU is kicking everybodys ass. I'd would really like to see how good they are. Maybe we will - if Florida beats Alabama and Texas gets beat by A&M (its CAN happen - texas is very good at blowing games like that), then the logical choice (if they win out) is TCU vs Florida unless they pull something like they did last year with Oklahoma and just play politics with it
Please identify the quality teams that TCU has beaten. It's easy to go undefeated playing large high schools.
TCU is a good team...but I honestly do not think they will be in the National Championship game. I know I will not tune in to that game because Florida or Alabama will dominate them. It is the sad truth. I think Texas will have a hard time against A&M but will come out on top. Hook 'em Horns!
Agree with you about A&M. This is an in state rivalry game where records mean nothing it seems. Texas A&M has screwed up Texas in the 2006 and 2007 if I remember correctly. They are playing at College Station this year too. Ugh.
Neutral Fan.....Remember seeing that TCU beat Utah, who last year beat....let's see, I think it was some small power house from the....let's see, I believe it was another large power from the SEC....maybe Alabama....OK, not the same teams, but I do believe that TCU has beaten teams that puts TCU with the 42nd toughest schedule. Or something like that....Who's #1? Well, if College basketball can get it right, then so can the boys that play football from the same schools....This would be a great year to put, let's say Florida hosting maybe Boise State. Then Alabama hosting maybe Cincinatti. Thn maybe Texas hosting maybe LSU. Then maybe TCU hosting Georgia Tech.....WOW! What a tournament. Now all we'd need would be 4 bowls to feature these games....Well above are 4 bowl games....That leaves 4 teams, so we'd only need two more bowl games and that would leave 2 teams. Hey we only need 1 more bowl game for the championship....That's 7 bowl games....Since the other teams don't really matter and since a bowl game is more of a reward anyway, then what's wrong with the above situation. I can guarantee you that each of those would be sellouts and possibly would bring in more television money than the current system....OK, so now we shorten the tie off for these teams. The bowl season for these 8 starts the week before Christmas. The next round would be the week of or before New Years and the last, or Championship game would be just like the Championship game now.......Any better ideas? Oh yea, who's the best this year? Probably one of the top 3 and most definately one of the top 3....Let's say Florida or Alabama wins the SEC....well, that's one.....Can Texas make it out of the title game? Probably....So there's your matchup....It's a damn shame for the other 3 undefeated.....Very possible that Cincinatti can lose....And Boise State, well all they have is the Nations longest winning streak....Will someone tell John Saunders that we need a playoff system?
The above should read most definately the top 6....sorry....
TW: Teams TCU has beaten: Clemson, BYU, Virginia (all road games) and Utah. You remember Utah, the team that whipped Bama in the Sugar Bowl? Oh, yeah, and in their bowl game last year TCU beat previously unbeaten Boise State. But that can't possibly compare to Florida beating Charleston Southern and Troy. Or Alabama defeating Florida International and North Texas. Or Texas taking down Louisiana-Monroe and UTEP. Sorry, I obviously misjudged the relative schedule strengths of the top 3.
Texas deserves the #1 shot. So what they haven't played alot of ranked teams(Florida played Troy and Charleston Southern which Urban Myer so lovingly called Florida's pre-season). But for Texas...the #1 spot is all about redemption. They should have went last year but got passed over in the big 12 championship game. TCU is a great team...but is not ready for a National Championship game....the BCS will take that into mind. The BCS knows that if they put a team like TCU against a team like Florida, that it will be a blow out and people will lose interest in the game and tune out (all about the money and the sponsorships here folks). Look what happened to Boise State and Hawaii in the past years...both undeafeated teams....both passed over for the glamour teams of the the major conferences (ACC, SEC, Big 10, Big 12). There are soo many good teams this year in the top 10 who have a loss or 2, who would be awesome to see in a BCS game (Pittsburgh anyone?). But my vote goes for Texas. Hook 'em Horns!
The National Championship game is set, Bama vs Florida. I hate to admit it but the SEC is head and shoulders above every other conference. Actually the only thing that weakens that league is the fact that they beat each other up so badly and the constant week to week pressure makes it impossible to get up every week. Another thing that makes the SEC vulnerable is that they have an elistist attitude which is exposed during the Bowl Season because when one of their teams isn't playing in the NC game they seem not to get up for any of the other Bowls. I'd love to see Cincy play TCU for all the marbles because the best team in Ohio is Cincinnati and the best team in Texas is TCU. Bama has a so so offense and Florida would not make it without Mr. College Football, Tim Tebow. Now that the Big Ten has been exposed yey again as the weakest Conference in the country (by far) next year will be Georgia Tech versus West Virginia for the NC with TCU, LSU and the Ducks just a half a step behind.
Ummm...Florida and Alabama will face off in the SEC Championship game...but not in the National Championship game.
To BJ the DJ, thank God U R not a lawyer because the case you make is about as weak as it gets or maybe you somehow forget what it's like to play in the SEC. They have the fastest athletes, the most team speed and the best athletes across the board...just look at the number of SEC athletes in the NFL versus any other league.
TCU, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Cincy, Pitt and Texas are excellent teams but none of them could survive playing in the SEC. I favor the ACC, but I realize we are a B-ball League and could never hack the football league for more than one or two games a year. I do think G-Tech, Miami, VT and Clemson are on the rise, so maybe down the road we could elevate enough to play the over powering SEC. Would love to see TCU take down Bama this year but the fact remains nobody is as good as the SEC, even Peter's USC is falling off...giving up 55 points to a so so Stanford team, how the mighty have fallen.
I'm just waiting to see the fourth quarter of the SEC championship game. After that we will know who should be ranked #1!!!!!!! I am looking forward to seeing the "crowned prince of college football" hand over the crown and the heisman to the criminal's son. ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!!!!!!!
