Even as a Yankee fan I have to find this question as stupid as it gets. The dust hasn't settled yet on this year, we don't know who gets resigned, who is healthy, and who is gone. We don't know what free agents they may bring in nor do we konw yet who other teams will bring in. THIS SHOULD HAVE WAITED TILL SPRING TRAINING AND NOT A COUPLE DAYS AFTER THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, only because, as mentioned in Game 6, either Damon or Matsui will probably not be re-signed, and while one release does not bring a team down, both are big players. Course, if the Phillies don't get some more reliable pitchers, like Lee, they might not make it back either.

I agree with bh0673. Why are we even questioning who will win next year when 09 just ended?

The Yankees need to build a core of homegrown young talent, like they had in Jeter, Posada, Petite and Rivera to become a dynasty

Bob, they do have a lot of new home grown talent already on the team, lets see center field, second base, the bull pen, future catcher. When Pettite, Rivera, Jeter and Posada came up there were still question marks.

The Yankees will definitely be competitive, the only big names they may lose are Matsui and Damon, but they have to sign one of them.

The question if they will repeat borders on the ridiculous, why not just ask who will win in 2011?

Why don't they just GIVE the damn world series trophy to the yankees? They've bought and paid for it, and very few teams can afford to buy into the trophy glory. Major League Baseball needs to institute a salary cap system that will make it impossible for a yankee-like dynasty to exist. Baseball is dying because baseball fans in the rest of the country are tired of so many yankees vs. someone-else world series. Look how football improved with a draft system and salary caps. Personally, I'm tired of baseball because of the lack of opponents of the yankees' purchase of the best players that other teams can't afford. Every team should be allotted the same amount for player salaries. The yankees shouldn't have $200 mil. for players and the royals have only $30 mil.

Well let's put it this way,No one was complaining about the yankees in the early years. They hardly had money then but they won a lot of world series. They are reaping the benefit of having money now. They have proven what it takes to get good players. Spend that money New York. Let's win it again next year!!!!

I agree this is a question best asked in spring training when all the teams have their chess pieces on the board. In terms of buying a championship, so what. There are other teams who spend huge amounts of money (cough Met's, Dodgers, Angles, Boston, etc) Money is only one of the ingredients but again who cares other than those who cannot field competitive teams.

Ask the question in the middle of March.

Who really cares? Baseball has come down to only being about who can buy the best team. And yeah, all you Yankee fans (and I used to be one being from NY myself) that does, in fact, make them the best team... but player loyalty is gone... steriod use is a given, players make more than God... so who really cares if they win or not? It means nothing these days. So enjoy Yankee fans... if you really can find joy in such a meaningless, empty gesture, then you deserve it.
