I love the Hawks....they find ways to win! Stanzi throw 5 INT and they still win by 18! The Ducks by 27 over USC.....dont count them out either....

Makes as much sense as annoiting a team simply because they happen to be in a conference called sec, and no other good reason!

Iowa gets a bad rap because of the close wins - I think it enhances their status; highly ranked teams are special targets of each opponent. I still have little confidence that we will get a true national title game this year; the Big Conference Swindle continues.

WHy would last nights Gator game change your mind. Georgia is unranked and terrible. No different win than Troy, Charleston and soon to be Florida International. When LSU beats Alabama and Alabama beats Florida in the SEC CG we'll see what kind of kohunies the BCS has.

A playoff system would not be any better. If there were 8 teams in a playoff, #1 would play #8, #2 would play #7, and so forth. When a #1 team was upset by a #8 team, fans would whine that it was a fluke. And how many fans would really call a #7 team the best team if it happened to win out to beat a #2 team which it lost to in the regular season? Look at the NFL.....it's not always the best team which wins, usually just the one which survives the playoffs. Look at the college basketball system.....is the winner of the tournament really the best team? Again, usually just the survivor who played most games well, but had a few lucky breaks and possibly an easier bracket. A playoff system is not any better than the voting system.....just different.

I totally agree with Rob. I love to wear my Louisville 2009 NCAA basketball championship shirt around town. Since they were the #1 team at the start of that farce tournament held each year, they are the rightful national champion. That fluke loss to Michigan St should have no bearing on the rankings. Once I explain this reasoning, many people agree that Louisville is the true national champ and N Carolina just got lucky. Idiot!

Texas soundly throttled a top 20 team on Saturday night and showed how good their defense is. They should be ranked #1 but will have to wait until the BCS championship game to claim #1!

Florida and Texas have a weak non-conference schedule; at least 'Bama played Va. Tech. There are teams out west that play football; remember Utah- Alabama? Wouldn't Boise State - Texas be a fun game to see? Ah, well, we're gonna get the 'gators and the 'horns on Jan. 7

Texas beat Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Missouri, and Oklahoma State. That's four teams that have been nationally ranked this year, including the current No. 20 and No. 18 plus another team (Texas Tech) in the top 30 in both the current AP and UPI polls. Florida beat No. 9 LSU. Alabama beat Virginia Tech (currently ranked anywhere from No. 22 to No. 24) in the first game of the season, and hasn't played anyone in the top 30 since then. It's too early to sympathize with 'Bama's tough schedule usnitl after they've played LSU and the SEC championship game.

Yes, every one of the undefeated teams, including Texas, have had some cupcakes on their schedules, but I agree that Texas' schedule, and record against several very good teams, stands up as a tougher road than any of the other highly ranked teams out there. They are getting stronger and more complete week by week and they have last years Texas Tech loss to fuel their fire. They've just won 3 in a row on the road against OU, Mizzou and OK State. Their defense is every bit as tough as Florida's and Alabama's and they've scored 9 special teams and defensive TD's. Because of that, by the way, McCoy and company have had far fewer offensive snaps than they might have since it "cost" them 9 offensive series during the season and hastened the first team's departure to the bench during blowouts. Despite that they lead the nation in scoring and rush defense. The rest of their schedule will be little more than confidence-building, fine tuning and piling up stats for all of the individual awards they will win. Both Florida and Alabama have struggled against weak opponents. Texas' only close call was a tough win against an excellent Oklahoma team, with McCoy sick and with an injured thumb. Looking at the overall body of work, Texas has put together the strongest case for being ranked #1. They'll prove it in January in Pasadena.

Texas is a prima donna. Always has been. OU without Bradford and OSU without Bryant? Luckily UT had folks in striped suits to seal the deal. There non-conference schedule is a joke. UL-Monroe, UTEP, and UCF? Laughable. Play a real schedule Mack and quit whining.
