this really SUCKS!!
Were Doomed. No way in hell FIFA lets us host the World Cup now. U.S. soccer is all about politics. This dude is blowing somebody high up on the ladder.
On the plus side - Bradley is a good man, and got a fair result out of what he had. On the down side, he did NOT get the most out of what he had, and what he had, he picked. He was clearly unable to fix a vulnerable defense - and he picked those players. He was clearly unable to get even half decent shots from any of his forwards - whom he picked supposedly from our best crop of players that came up through our youth leagues (that should set off an alarm!!). His midfield played panic-ball, and our set plays were not even threatening, in contrast to the go to space play of the MFs on Germany, Spain, and Agentina for example. How many times did we see Donovan take on two players, and just try to shoot the ball forward between them, and lose it? No other quality team did that at MF. The attack was one-dimensional, the only width was created by M Bradley and overlapping wing defenders. That's an old story for the US team, and a painful one to keep watching. And finally, most everyone who understands the game understands playing Clark was a risk - except Bob. That is kindergarden stuff he needs to get over. The team was not staffed well enough, and with 300 million citizens, and a fairly large player pool, I really wonder how we ended up short-staffed after such a longgggg selection process. I agree that USSF really needs to get past the politics and cronyism, all the way to the youth league levels, to get the right people in the right spots, on - and off the pitch.
