The lure of playing in another Super Bowl brought Brett Favre back to the NFL - again. Favre joined his Minnesota Vikings teammates at practice Wednesday. The three-time MVP wore a helmet, shoulder pads and red quarterback's jersey as he worked out with Minnesota for the first time since getting battered by New Orleans as the Vikings lost the NFC championship game in January.
Favre says another shot at title lured him back

I can run slowly - without a limp - for a mere $1,000,000.
300,000,000 people in this country and the Vikings can only find an old man for a quarterback. How sad is that?
"I owe it to the organization."
Think he would play for free then?
Favre is a joke!!!! Does this guy have serious financial problems? That's the only thing that can explain his irrational behavior!
Did any of you look at his stats last year? Yeah, sure hes old, but he defenitely delivered. That doesn't guarantee he will this year, but if it shows anything, it shows that Farve still has heart to accompany his exceptional talent.
that's because you've never played a competitive sport you herb
looks like he did pretty good last year to me:
http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating/year/2009/seasontype/2
I have been a Vikings fan since day one of their inception. Mr. Favre--GO HOME!!!!!! If you think that he will take us to the Super Bowl, then you believe in Santa Claus. He couldn't do it last year-he won't this year. There is a boy from Maquoketa Iowa who was tapped to be the quarterback this year and they are saying he is better than Favre ever thought about being. If we make it to the playoffs and luckily the Super Bowl I think it will be the young man from IOWA who will do it. Favre will get hurt and he'll quit again. TMO.
Grandpa Favre is playing again. Still blaming his shoulder and ankle for not playing good. He should remain retired when he first did. Now all he is doing is hurting himself. And Vikings is hurting there self also. Turning away another play to make room for what? For a washed up player. Once he get drilled in the ground he will retire then. He just needs to go away NOW. Another wasted news conference
Favre had his best season ever statistically, last year at the age of 40. How could that be considered washed up? He gives the Vikings their best chance to win a championship. And as for wasting a position, Jackson and Rosenfels have been in the league for years and haven't proved themselves to be legitimate starting QB's, and drafting a Rookie QB is a coin flip at best. No matter how much research the scouts do, they still don't seem to be able to pick the great QB's with any regularity. So I think the Vikings are doing the smart thing by sticking with good, although older, guy that has proved that he can win games.
Did you watch any NFL games last year? You should have kept your mouth shut because you sound like a fool. Brett Favre played OUTSTANDING football for the Vikings. Statistically he had the best year of his Hall of Fame career! 33 TDs vs only 7 INTs and over 4,000 yards is incredible no matter what your age.
Roger,
You shouldn't be able to comment on a story if you totally clueless on what actually is going on. No he SHOULDN'T retire, no he is not blaming anything for anything, any team in the world would drop a player for Brett Favre and if he was washed up he wouldn't be coming off the best season of his life. NOW PLEASE, know your @!$%# before you come on here and make yourself look like an idiot.
If you want your opinions to matter maybe you should learn how to speak English, or at the very least learn how to spell and type it correctly. To those of you who are so worried about Favre coming back to our beloved Purple, do us true fans a favor and dont worry about team chemistry, or how old he is. Brett Favre at 40 still has more in his tank than 80% of the QB's starting this year. So do us all a favor, and dont watch the purple, just ignore us. WE DONT CARE !! Because when the big game in February rolls into Dallas the Vikings will be there, victorious. SKOL VIKINGS !!!!!!
As much as it pains me to say ( I'm an eagles fan) one of the top receivers in the league ( T.O.) is 36, not to far behind. So that being said we need to look at the ability of the player and not the age. As for Farve I do wonder about his commitment if after every he says he will retire skips the camps then says he will not. But Hell what ever works.
I don't see commitment being an issue at this point because once he decides to play, his in for the whole year. If the vikings were concerned about his commitment they would have found another qb
Um... dude... newsflash: Farve was the best quarterback in the NFL last year.
If he was best QB last year. How come he wasn't he in the super bowl game? and the dude is 50 years old. the old grandpa on the field today. So don't give me this @!$%# he is the best QB last year. He is all washed up as QB and as a PLAYER. A waste of money and time on th SOB. And the VIKINGS is RETARDED for not getting another QB this year. They won't go to the super bowl game this year. So take sweet kiss of my ass. All you going to say end of the FAVRE sucks he should retire. So bite my ass once again.
Roger, you sir are a troll.
There was a time when Brett Favre was a team player, but his behavior and actions over the past few years are evidence that that's no longer true. He played his best years at Green Bay, and they were smart to get rid of him before he made them look as idiotic as the Vikings now look!
UMMMM, as idiotic as you look you mean? He had the best season of his life last year. Know your stats before you come on here and make yourself look stupid like Roger. The vikings look smart by doing this, not dumb what-so-ever!!
Can we now stop talking about Bret? Doubt it!
LOL. Haven't you guys figured it out yet? Favre has ankle surgery, sits out, then, all of a sudden, with more money and a spotlight turned on him, his ankle is good enough to play and he's back once again. Brett Favre is a secret weapon that the Green Bay Packers have used to bankrupt the rest of the NFL teams. He flits from team to team, getting them to spend the money they should be investing in new players on an old has been quarterback that creates more drama than a last second playoff interception. Bleed em dry, Brett....bleed em dry....
Brett is back. Yawn.
NFL Network has devoted the last hour to his press conference and I'm bored to tears. "Great team chemistry" this, "great year last year" that.
Look, here's the problem with Brett's recent career, and this is why the Packers basically told him to get lost (after his "I'm retiring, no I'm not!" routine): He has a good season then follows it up with multiple mediocre seasons. Sure, the Brett of the 2009 season was spectacular but anyone who expects the exact same level of play from him this season is fooling themselves.
He might have the record for most consecutive games but he's also tops in interceptions and probably near the top in most times sacked. He can talk about great team chemistry and how they all kept saying they wanted him back but let's see how they feel when Brett has one of his typical, mediocre, years.
I honestly feel bad for the QBs that are forced to live in the shadow of this man. Aaron Rodgers has proven to be a decent QB with good potential but if Brett had his way Rodgers would still be playing second string in Green Bay.
It's time to bow out, Farve. Let the younger generation you're forcing to live in your shadow step up and become the great QBs they could be.
Whatever you say, Brett, whatever...
It time to move on grandpa.
Typical Favre: "I was so close, so close to getting these guys to the Super Bowl."
Yeah, Brett. Like always. It's all about you.
I suffered through several of your season-crushing interceptions, but this year I can hardly wait to see it. And we all know it's coming, don't we?
Dude, you would love it if he was wearing the green again so stop being so jelouse of he man and respect that he is a top 5 QB in the NFL at 41. Come on now
I will so enjoy watching Favre again this year!!!! Good for him; fun for us.
Wow, am I the only one who is happy Favre is returning? Without him we would have never made it as far as we did last year, and without him I doubt we would even make the playoffs this year. Who's going to be our QB? Jackson? That would be bad...probably make games too painful to watch.
Nope, you aren't. I'm happy too and I'm not a big Viking fan (no offense meant by that.)
I realize every year is tougher but nobody has ever had the excitement after a great play that Brett has. I just love watching him and hope he has many great plays left for this year.
Wildman is so right. Like him or not, he's still an elite quarterback. And without him at this point, the Viking offense is not nearly as potent. Not to mention the guy is and always has been fun to watch. Money and stats I'm sure mean something to him, but the real football fan knows he loves to play, loves the camaraderie, and loves to win. At his age the game is really painful. But every woman after having a baby says never again. But after the pain goes away, and Brett knows he's still got elite skills he's going to keep coming back. And when he's gone for good we as fans will he gave us all he had to give. And I'm a Green Bay fan who was livid when he left us.
as a 13 year season ticket holder, I am soooo happy he is back. Just the thought of T-Jack throwing for us sucks, Sage, maybe. But neither is up to the cailber of Favre, even at 40. Lets just all hope he keeps his starting games streak going. and no injuries. Gonna be a fun year regardless..... now lets go do some tailgating !!! SKOL VIKINGS
kenpatty, you siad it! And like you, I'm a Pack fan, all the way back to the Bart days.
Way to go Brett!!!! Can't wait to watch you play !!!
I am so happy that Brett is back! We have gotten so close and then at the end we fail. I am hoping that this year will be the turn around and we can actually win the Super Bowl!
I can't wait until Favre takes the Vikes to the Superbowl and all you will eat your words. ahhahaha
Although we all do like like the every year Farve watch. We have seen him take 2 hapless teams the Vikings and the Jets and made them playoff contenders. Without Brett the Vikings stadium would be half full by the end of the season. He makes the teams money, helps make the team better, and we as fans have fun watching and old man do things younger men can't. As a 50 year old man my hat is off to you Brett.
I'm glad Brett is coming back. While I have always been a Packers fan, I do follow the Vikings when Brett is playing. He brings excitement to the game. Also, having lived in Minnesota many years and knowing the fans there, the Vikings organization will make big bucks with this because whatever you may think of him, he is a man's football player and in the real towns of Minnesota, Iowa, and Dakota's; that brings fans to Minneapolis!! Go Brett.
i heard the Bulls are wanting to win again. Michael Jordan should think "If Favre can do it..."
@ Roger Thacker and Dachs
Did you even watch football last year? Favre put together one of his best years ever and led the Vikes to the NFC Championship, one play away from going to the Super Bowl.
Sounds like you're a couple of jealous little girls who got cut from Pee Wees.
Keep quiet while the rest of America happily welcomes Brett back.
Of course he's back.....training camp is over!
Hey Packer haters how many TD's did Favre throw last year 33? Oh yeah and only 7 interceptions. Go back to pretending you still have a good team and I will wake you up in December when you are 8-8 with two losses to our Vikes. Get some!
You all say that you're "glad he's back." I didn't realize he'd ever gone. Where did he go? What a jerk! He plays you all like a drum, gets his hours of name in the news, gets mo' money, may pull off a game or two, and you worship at his throne.
It would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. Favre, just go away, please. Ugh!!
sounds like he needs constant reassurance...get a life
Is he is or is he ain't? Just can't seem to make up his mind.
happy Days are here again! Not!
You know, I can understand his hesitancy, I understand the injury issue (this time) and all the rest. What I fault him for is his manner of doing things. Why not just keep your damn mouth shut until you work through things? I'm sorry but there's no reason this has to be done in public and it is a little hard to feel like he's not milking the situation.
And yes, he did have a great year last year and I didn't think it would happen.
You gotta hold the public media somewhat responsible. ESPN completely blew it out of proportion. I see it as a guy reluctant to return because of an injury, possibly thats how it is. Media see's that as boring, so they spice up the stories to keep people watching. Glad to see Favre back, expecting another 11 win season. But I'd be happy with 10 looking at the schedule.
