Opinion: The idea itself was fine. Everybody loves big lakes. Everybody loves golf courses. Everybody should love a great golf course on the shore of a Great Lake. The PGA gave us Whistling Straits for its championship in 2004, and again this week, and again in 2015 and again for the Ryder Cup in 2020. Maybe it can be fixed by then.
Whistling Straits a good idea, poor result

So Mark,
Did you interview Gordos before the tournament? Or after it was pretty much a given he wouldn't make the cut? You do know that Singh won 2004 @ 8 under, right? Do you remember how the course had to be played on that final day? Are you really blaming the weather for suggesting it's not a great course?
What were McIlroy's full comments? Was the one you decided to publish made by him in a positive or negative manner? You hope the course can be fixed in time for the next championship... So, what do you suggest? What should be fixed?
Perhaps if Goydos removed the large chip from his shoulder he could play better.
Mark is officialy an idiot... Congratulations for a no sport site like NBC to pay this writers garbage... HA!
Who the hell is Paul Goydos. He obviously had no business in the PGA Championship as he was nowhere near the cut. If you can't make the cut you don't have the right to bitch about the course. Go home and cry to mommy.
Thank goodness its not a links course. British Open is by far the most boring and visually unappealing major. Whistling Straits has flair and identity which is a GREAT thing. Thank you to the PGA for giving us some variety.
