Alberto Contador is set to win his third Tour de France title in four years after retaining the yellow jersey in the next-to-last stage on Saturday. Fabian Cancellara won the time trial, but the 27-year-old Contador held on to his razor-thin lead over Andy Schleck of Luxembourg, who had started the 19th stage in second place, 8 seconds back.

Sorry Alberto but if you win this year it will always be overshadowed by the way you took advantage of a mechanical failure. Then you try to crawl your way out by saying you didn't know; you may win the tour but you have lost a lot of respect all over the world!
No he hasn't. It wasn't a mechanical failure. It wa rider error. Schleck has ridden with that shifting system for the past 2 years. He has trained on that mountain several times this season. He was shifting from a big gear to a small gear and he overshifted. Also, Lance, Contador and most of the riders in the peloton use the same system. If it was mechanical failure, why did no one else report the same problem during that stage or any other stage?
Lance even pointed out that Contador could not be faulted for taking over the yellow jersey at that point. Even other Tour greats said that Contador was in the right to continue racing because the riders competing with both him and Schleck continued riding. Schleck was just underprepared and HIS error exposed his unprofessioinalism during this Tour. Furthermore, it's 8 seconds. If Schleck was a more complete rider, this stage would not be an issue because he could recover it in the TT.
Schleck slipped a chain and Contador attacked as soon as he saw it. Contador is classless to the extent that he is routinely booed when he takes the podium.
Even the French can recognize a classless whore when they see one.
He also attacked when Armstrong went down in that big crash. It is the unwritten rule you do not attack contenders who have crashed you allow them to regain the group then move. I must agree with Fan & Randy he showed very little sportsmanship and class with this win. He even attacked his own teammate Vino when the guy had a stage win in the bag.
He was also lucky that Frank Schleck was put out due to a crash and that there was no team time trial. Hopefully next year they will add the team trial back in. Lets see how much teammates like Vino help him next year when acts like this.
I'm sorry, but i can't stand it. look at that coc....king look on his face. Thats tells it all. Scumbag piece of garbage.
I am requesting that rockstar's post be deleted for being profanely insulting and derrogatory . Alberto Contador is a person who has proven his professionalism by winning ; winning the Tour de France for the third time ! God bless Alberto Contador !

Waiting for Lloyd Flandis' blood doping claims in 4...3...2...1
Lloyd? Where are you Lloyd?
Anybody but Contador. Except Cavendish.
Ok....so how did Schleck gain his advantage on Contador in Stage 3, and go on to claim the yellow jersey? Right, it was due to a crash in the peleton and a pretty clear-cut mechanical, affecting both Armstrong and Contador. Did Schleck wait? Um, no...he pressed on, with loads of help from Cancellara, even leaving his brother on the side of the road with a broken collarbone. This after Contador and the peleton waited for HIM in stage 2 (while he was NOT wearing yellow). Even Saxo Bank's manager conceded that waiting after the dropped chain (clearly rider error and NOT clear-cut in terms of Tour etiquette) would have been foolish. Contador has more integrity in his little finger than many past Tour winners, and his public apology (not at all required) was accepted even by Schleck. Leave the guy alone, people. He has proven himself to be the better rider in this year's tour, and is a deserving champion. I'm looking forward to next year; the Contador/Schleck rivalry will be amazing. Best of luck to them both.
This waiting for people crap has to stop. If you are a 100-meter hurdles runner in the Olympics, do you wait for someone if they trip on a hurdle and fall? No. I cheered Schleck on the entire race because Contador is a dick. A lot of dicks have won the TdF. Bring on 2011.
