With the two deaths in the organization this season, especially "The Boss," the Yankees will pick up the pace and win the World Series going away. A-Rod and Teixeira will catch fire and with the rotation they have the Yankees will win this season. It is just like 2009, with the new Yankee Stadium unvailed, they pushed around the other teams easily.

I agree with Bruce...These two New York Yankees legends will be remembered for all they did for the Yankees and MLB, and it will give Derek Jeter's Yankees all the will to want to bring one last Championship for the Legend, George Steinbrenner III, being he left those in the Yankees Universe already half way to another World Series Championship, and another Ticker Tape Parade down the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall, Where the Honorable Mayor Michael Bloomberg will hand out yet another set of Keys to the Greatest City in the World and to the millions who will attend the Parade and the Billions of the New York Yankees Universe all around the world. All of the NY Yankee players want to send George Steinbrenner out a Winner, and win they shall at all costs! Then, the Yankees and the Yankees Universe will celebrate the Championship at the Shrine in the Bronx, that should have a name change from Yankees Stadium to George Steinbrenner Stadium. They won't do this, but, it would be nice maybe just for one day , the first day of next season when the World Series Championship banner is lifted, and they hand out the World Series Rings to the Core Four and the rest of the club, they could announce that the Stadium's name will change for just that day, in honor to the Greatest Owner that did so much for MLB and everybody he knew and for even the people he didn't know, that way, we can show him just how much he meant to the Yankees Universe. Then, the Stadium will go back to it is known as, "The House that Derek Jeter Built!"

Watch out for the Padres if they make the playoffs, we'll have to see how the West is won. They have a superb bullpen and strong starting pitching that is aided by the rather spacious confines of Petco. Add some great leadership and this team is poised to turn some heads come October.

Why aren't the Giants on this poll? They have the best pitching staff in baseball (Lincecum, Zito, Cain, Sanchez, Bumgarner (a young kid, watch for his name soon), all of who are heating back up at the right time, and their offense is finally starting to get the ball rolling again (Buster Posey is rejuvenating this team, and they will be trading for another bat). San Francisco is only 4 games out of first place in their division, and 2 out of the wild card in the NL, and they have half a season to not only make that up, but also take a good lead in their division, and then, the World Series.

I am a Red Sox fan, but in case you never watched the All-Star Game, the Nationals won. So, no it doesn't go through Da Bronx!! That's right, your beloved Yankees won't have home field advantage if they make it to the World Series. In all actuality, I think the Sox are going to do just fine and we should have some of our best talent all healed up by then anyways. Yes, I think the Red Sox have a good chance to be in the playoffs and possibly make the World Series. Just in case you haven't noticed, the Sox still have a 2-1 World Series championship lead since 2001, the beginning of the new millenium. If your Yankees go into the playoffs as overconfident and cocky as you are, don't expect them to get to the World Series. Do you remember how they did in the 2004 ALCS? Up in the series 3-0, they became overconfident that they would win and lost four in a row. Thanks to their overconfidence, the Red Sox won the ALCS and the World Series, ending 86 years without a WS championship.

In the case of baseball, I've heard it said that "the championship goes through [some city]" to mean that the team that does not have home field advantage has to win a game at the ball park of the team which does have home field. Which, if that is what you meant, then that isn't going to happen for the Red Sox, Yankees, or any other AL team that wins the AL pennant. This year, for this saying to be what I have heard it means and if the championship goes through New York, you would have to be talking about the New York Mets. If that is not what you meant by that saying, then I guess I misinterpreted what you said.

Let's make that THREE rings in 92 years, but the Red Sox still lead the Yankees in the new millennium, two World Series championships to one. BTW, the new millennium started in 2001, unlike what some people have told me that it started in 2000. There was no year 0, so the start of the new millennium could not be 2000.

Red Sox won in 1918, 2004, and 2007. Not sure how you figured TWO World Series championships in 92 years.
