In the year of the pitcher, no-hit aces Ubaldo Jimenez and Roy Halladay lead a formidable National League All-Star staff. Rookie sensation Stephen Strasburg will have to wait at least another season before he gets the nod.

Wright? Polanco? Rolen's numbers are better than either of them. The fan vote is a joke.
We all know the fans vote for the players of their favorite team with some exceptions, that's why the voting should be left up to the players and the managers of the all- star teams
It would have been an injustice to have had Strasburg selected, five total career starts doesn't make an All-Star.
Strasburg has only like 5 major league starts. It's not the all-hype game. Let him prove it first.
Right decision. Strasburg has only had 5 starts. Hopefully, years from now, people will shake their head and wonder why he was not named to the All Star team. But, in the here and now, it would not be justified.
Where's Strasburg??? That's easy! He hasnt done anything worthy of being for the All Star team.! When he has an All Star worthy season, Im sure he'll be chosen!
Strasburg is way too new and too young to be an all-star. He needs at least a full season to be considered. Right now it is just hype and marketing.
The election of Strassburg, as impressive as he has been, after playing only one month would be an insult to all those All-Stars who have entire seasons under their belt and have drank at the well in October. There's a reason they play 162 games. You've got to earn it.
I can't believe this is even controversial. But I guess that's the type of culture we've become - celebrity smitten, sensationalism-loving, over-obsessed with those enjoying their 15 minutes of fame. I'm not putting down Strassburg here - I'm predicting he'll be a worthy All-Star...in 2011.
that's ok....will be worth the wait.....he's going to be a gem but needs to prove it for now....i'm a rockies fan but am rooting for this kid to succeed...he will be great for mlb in the long run!!....
I don't think Strassburg should even be mentioned in the same sentence as All Star. He hasn't faced anyone yet, all sub 500 teams except the Mets who took care of him. The media has blown this up because they are the media and they have nothing better to do then ruin reputations, create false hype and write crap. Guys like Craig Calcaterra, and Aaron Gleeman who have lobbied for Strassburg to be in the All Star game have made a laughing stock out of themselves! How can we take them seriously as a knowledgeable baseball writer?
