welcome home, abby --- some people would say you failed in your dream of sailing around the world ---- how many people can say they sailed halfway around the world ??? --- a great accomplishment, and may all your goals achieve fruition.
She is AMAZING! Kudos to the family for allowing their kids to chase dreams and shoot for greatness....
If you have followed this entire misadventure, you would know that Abby's parents are just trying to cash in on their children. A reality series was (is) in the works - oh really - is THAT Abby chasing HER dream? No, it's just another set of Hollywood parents gone awry. Wake up people - this is nothing more than blatant manipulation by greedy, scheming parents. It's sad and it's wrong and it should be stopped before Amy is just another victim and a meaningless and sad obituary.
Well said, maybe next time they should just SAY she was on the boat, a la hot air balloon kid. They should certainly be charged for any expenditure involved in the rescue operation.
The human brain doesn't fully develop the area responsible for judgment until the age of 19 or 20. Allowing this child to do what she wanted to do rather than what was appropriate is really irresponsibl of her parents. I don't care if she was born on a boat, it is not a responsible act.
question --- if an adventure of this sort is so inherently dangerous, and given that abby's departure was publicized well in advance, then why did california child protective services allow her to leave on this journey ?? ---- because, if this really was such a bad idea, then the state would be just as liable as the parents.
I'm just glad she was rescued and is safe.
I don't judge her parents.
She is just lucky that she isnt dead.
There are still many areas of the worlds oceans where modern day pirates are active. The seas south of the china coastline is one of those areas.
she is very lucky that she wasnt hijacked by modern day pirates, held against her will, forcibly and repeatedly raped and brutalized, then murdered and thrown overboard.
Wow, I don't know how many people have completed solo sailing trips around the world, but I bet they were all adults. This KID is not old enough. Then again, who cares, survival of the fittest.
