The Lakers showed a lot of heart and poise. Boston played awesome defense but couldn't keep it together the last quarter. The Lakers will be better next year with a healthy Bynum and Ron Artest more comfortablt with the triangle and his teammates. Lakers 3-peat!
You look at many of the other top teams in the NBA (e.g., Boston, Cleveland) they're in for big changes. The Lakers look like they will stay together. As long as Phil comes back, who has a realistic shot at beating them? Without Phil, I'm less certain. People may tend to underestimate how great a coach Phil Jackson is because of who he coached, but only great coaches can keep this many egos and this much talent from self-destructing.
Decent odds to make it three in a row. Kobe is the key over the course of the season. We just witnessed why winning is so important in the regular season - home court advantage in the finals. Gasol will get stronger and Artest will become more comfortable in the offense. Bynam has not reached his full potential and that would be a major factor for a three-peat. I suspect the Lakers will make an upgrade at the guard position - perhaps a veteran free agent (strong defender) who wants an opportunity to win a ring. Fisher is a stud, but a little more length would be an asset on team defense. It would help to have Jackson back as the coach. Lots of good competition although I doubt the Celtics will return to the finals. Probably Cleveland or Chicago with James. Great competition in the West with Phoenix, Denver, and perhaps Dallas. Dark horse would be Portland. Kobe's shooting was way off, but his team still won with teamwork, defense and rebounding - Amazing Happens!
Yes, that's very very possible. They have a talented core of starters & the bench will be improved I'm sure. But, Laker fans take nothing for granted; we know how long the road is & how difficult it can be to win back-to-backs. But, if Bynum stays healthy the entire season, Coach Phil returns & the Gods are willing ~~~ there is no team in the NBA that is (or will be) better than the Lakers. So, yes!! An emphatic "YES!". Having said that, let me congratualte Boston for their excellent season & impressive playoff series. They can be proud of their accomplishments; they proved every bit as hard to beat as the legendary Celtic teams that preceded them Hats off!
Wait a minute. What is the over/under in Vegas on how many women Kobe will rape this off season?
Santa? Oh, no SHANTA!
No, I was just asking a question about what the over/under was in Vegas for how many people Kobe will rape this off season. Do you know, Santa....sorry, Shanta?
Just a note to JustAFlier. This is a BASKETBALL forum. Keep on topic, take your meds, and try to contribute. I know it's hard for you. Thanks for stopping by.
Lakers will be back next year to ThreePeat! Watch all the big free agents stay away from going to the Western Conference as they know their only hope of facing Kobe and the Lakers is from the Eastern CreamPuff Conference. If King of Choke Leboring James leaves the Cadavers he will just be starting over from scratch and will need a few years to get a new team to work together the way the Lakers do. It will be interesting to see how the free agency works out but there is no team all fired up and ready to go toe to toe with the World Champion Lakers!
The Lakers are a good basketball team, like all the other nba teams. What catapults the lakers are the referees. In game 7 the Celtics were winning when the refs started calling fouls just to let KObe make free throws.
If it wasn't for the refs the true champions, the Celtics would have won the final game.
how many more title left for l.a. to consumate threepeat as shaq to help present to let kobe inspire and spice
remember that one time a few years back when kobe drugged and raped that one gal in colorado and was so sorry about it that he paid off the defendant and bought his wife a seven carat ring? i do.
all jordan did was gamble openly, get a ton of assists while getting all those rings, and NOT taking every shot, and NOT trying to be the best.
You strike again. Must be a miserable life for you and "JustAFlier". Both are losers and more than likely, sad LITTLE men. Go eat your bowl of sour grapes and find yourselves another rock to crawl under. Lakers have an extremely good chance of a 3-peat considering the chances of signing another big name, big talent player and keeping their core players (starters and bench). As much as Phil deserves the love, if he decides to retire, I would imagine the Lakers will remain in good hands. Whatever his decision, Phil's the best. Way to go Lakers!

Lakers fans - no hablan Inglés.
Kobe es un violador
wow justa your such a schmuck your still goin on about the kobe adultery, ever heard the term cant rape the willing he didnt rape anyone , she willingly spread her legs tehn went to a party and bragged about it then 24 hours later she goes to the hospital and says she was raped...they test her she had 3 different semen samples on her none of them were kobe...btw im a cop and if your going to jump on a band wagon try the moral one hes an adulterer which is NOT a crime. if your going to post stuff get your facts straight otherwise your just what we know you are a moron
If Jackson leaves, they will not repeat. He is the difference between a team with good players and a championship team.
if jackson leaves, the lakers will abolish the triangle offense, then kobe bryant will explode, he will more unstoppable. he will play like james, wade, etc play, as fisher said and i quote, "kobe will average 50 points a game"....
"all jordan did was gamble openly, get a ton of assists while getting all those rings, and NOT taking every shot, and NOT trying to be the best."
that is why, during end game, they have what they called jordan rules....
The odds just got better with Jackson coming back. Kobe will still feel like he has something to prove since he lost ground this year on being the league's top closer. Bynum's health during the playoffs is a big wild card. He has yet to play full time or full strength in any of the playoffs the past three years. He's overdue for a breakout year. Another wild card is what new players join LA to fill the 4-5 openings on the bench. A few hungry warriors would enliven the team. As far as competition, I don't think Boston's big three are as relevant as they were a few years ago. Great story with all the crying, but the east should have at least two better teams than bean town. The James Gang (Cleveland, Chicago, whomever?) will dominate ESPN highlights, but all the distractions around the "king" will mean another disappointing year when the playoffs roll around. Maybe Miami if Wade and Riley can upgrade their talent. Forget Orlando unless they bring in Chris Paul or another top PG. Nelson is a terrific backup.
listen viewer k--you may be a copper but that doesn t mean a thing when it comes to brains of which you ve got precious few. what don t you get about a woman saying no? nothing! because like all the other neanderthals out there, you think you are god s gift to women. you re god s gift to stupidity. this women who was allegedly raped never had a chance to prove her charges in court because she received so many death threats from the kobe dobe thug supporters that she had to move every night to a different location. suppose it had been YOUR daughter he had raped.
no wonder she threw in the towel and took the payoff. how many death threats have YOU received? yeah, none. try it and see how YOU react.
everybody knows an all white jury in conservative colorado was going to send this kobe dobe thug to the penitentiary where he belongs. just like O J, he got away with a big time crime because of money and thuggery. in some countries, rape is a capital offense!! think about it.
i will never support the lakers again until they get rid of this rapist!!
THEY WILL NOT UNLESS THE FIX IS ON AGAIN. I just want Michael Jordan to come out of retirement. I have not watched a Men's basketball game in it's entirety sense. I went to high school with him and identified him as a future great when the MJ fan was thinking of Dr.J I like the women's game because it looks fresh and beats watching a bunch of old men who date their best teammates momma. The NBA is the closet thing to organize wrestling right after the dummines in the NFL... I hope the NFL will go on strike so a fifty year old guy can have a flashback and play for the Falcons as a Replacement Player. What's my name? = Earthquake!!!!!!!
