Once and for all no one should say Alabama is the true "NATIONAL CHAMPION OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL". You still have an undefeated team even if it is Boise State.
The BCS is such a forest. No one team can lay claim to a National Title until our universities realize what is needed in College Football. It's boring to hear "Its the only system we have right now". To that I say, College Football does not have a True National Champion.
Heck even in high school we have footbal playoffs that determine State Champions. And all us college alum just sit by and take the Bull Chit Series (BCS) because of the cash. I assure you, a college football playoff system could be developed that would determine an Undisputed National Champion with double the cash payouts that are received in the current system.
I don't agree with our President on too much, but I'll firmly stand by his side on this issue, and so will the majority of Americans.
I'm a Gator Fan and I agree that the BCS system is busted. The only reason it isn't moving is the closed door money making deals with the inventors of the BCS. Why should the top 16 teams not get a chance to play in a playoff system? It seems way more exciting, and there could be a NIT like secondary set of bowls that incorporate the next 16 teams. Plus, why not extend out the season into January to accomodate the additional playoff games. I'm guessing all of us college fans would love to see additional games- and the players would get additional time to train so the off season isn't so long.
However, they aren't going to make any major changes until the college fans protest the system and schools start saying they are going to pull out of participating. or someone sues the NCAA for the unequal process. Heck public dollars are going to fund the NCAA in some form or fashion, as many of these schools are public schools.
CESRodezno........ Really? Isn't that something like "poetic justice" to lose your QB to a shoulder injury and lose a big game? You shorthorns hammered Oklahoma after the last Red River game. So bite on turnabout. Mac must still be crying! Obviously you are as well. You guys are K States biatch.
There are undefeated teams in high school football too...and Bama isnt going to worry with them either. The peeps in Boise dont even know what color the football field should be. What a joke....on themselves.
Right! Boise defeating the PAC 10 champion and the MWC champion shows they cannot play football. And they seem to lose most of their games, too...........
The Boise State Broncos are for real and those who can't see it only show their shallow vision and small minded thought processes. When the way you build up your own team is by tearing down another, you only show the doubts you have in what you've got.
So, anytime anyone criticizes another program, it shows shallow vision and small mindedness? Um OK. Can the Oregon State Beavers have neon Orange Turf? Can the Washington Huskies have a neon purple turf? Can Utah have a bright red turf? Is that really callssy and fair? Why if BSU fans think their team is so great, do they need to hide behind unfair advantages like blue turf? Sounds to me like Boise State is afraid of competition.
Let me tell all of you fans of mid major schools like you Boise State fans something. I get so sick of you guys saying how good your team is and that they should have played in the NC game. We all know that the BCS takes in a lot of considerations such as strength of schedule. I'm from Louisiana and a LSU fan myself. Even if my team didn't play anyone, but won all of the games during the season it's easy to say you should have played in the NC game. Until you guys start playing NC caliber teams on your schedule during the season the you guys can't talk about the fact that you should have played in the NC game. Anybody can step it up for a BCS Bowl game but it's different trying to play other good teams in the process of getting there, and one more thing about those people who hate on the SEC. You guys say we schedule cupcakes for non confrences games and that we don't play anybody, you need to check the facts that we always schedule decent non confrence teams that are usually in the top 25, but why schedule 8 million other non confrence teams when the SEC along produces at least 6 NC caliber teams every year, and if your an SEC fan you already know that your team will play at least 3 or 4 of those teams. The normal NC caliber SEC teams(LSU, ALA, FLA, UGA, AUB, TEN) and then the other teams arent even sorry! They are good(SC, ARK, MS, KEN)ETC.... When you have a confrence that's strong there is no need to schedule good non confrence teams all the time. Even if they wanted to play us LSU would play them. All BCS confrenences play pretty good teams in there own confrenece. So that stops the "BCS are scared to play small schools" If you survive not just the SEC slate but any BCS confrence slate undefeated then you deserve to play in the nation title game. The problem for you BS fans is that your confrence is weak an has to get strong. We all know that the coaches are 2/3 of the poll and that the No. of top 25 teams you play, strength of schedule, and confrence strength determines whether or not you play in the NC game. Nuff Said.
Remember, college football players are STUDENT ATHLETES! The most important thing is they get an EDUCATION. A very small percentage will be good enough to play in the NFL. Pro football careers last only 4-5 years on the average.
I agree a playoff system would better decide the "true" National Champion. But is that really so important? There would always be some dispute. NO WAY Boise State could beat Alabama, Texas or several other teams in the SEC or Big 12.
I have finally heard someone say the words "student athlete"! When I see college footbal games scheduled for during the week I wonder..what about their classes??? Thank You.
Uh, yeah. That's what they said before Utah destroyed Alabama. Personally, I wished Utah had kept the tempo up and put even more points on the board and further rolled the Tide.
Boise and TCU should have been able to play the big boys last year, not each other. What was the BCS afraid of ? These 2 teams were good enough to play against any BCS finalists. One of them could have won.
If there were any men with a set left in the USA, some one would kick Dick Cheney's ass, Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh would be wed in a forced shotgun marriage(AL Franken presiding) Uma would do the weather on every channel. The nation would be split into six districts and a national playoff system would be enforced. The only crime the country would experience after that would be that television sets would constantly be getting stolen. That damn Uma.
Alabama has all the tools to win the 2010 BCS it's just that the S.E.C is so damm tough you kind of have to get the breaks on the road but they should be able to take it all.
DEFENSE wins Championships! Lots of teams can light up the scoreboard (i.e. Houston, Texas Tech & Oklahoma). But none of them won it all this season.
Watch out for my Nebraska Cornhuskers. Their defense is much improved over a couple of years ago. (Thanks Pelini brothers). Once the offense catches up, we will return to our former glory. I can't wait for the 2010 season to begin. GO BIG RED!!!
Glad to see the Cornhuskers are back. Great program with a legend for athletic director and one of the best coaches in the nation. Not to mention, I think Nebraska fans have a lot of class.
By no means am I a Bama fan but watching that game, people saw Alabama didn't have the heart they did going into the season. If they had played with all the heart and talent, the outcome may have been way different.
I'm a UGA fan too, and I think Alabama is scary good, (it kills me to say that). They looked a little rattled at first against Texas, but they wear on you like a wool coat in July.
Nick Saban has chosen to feed the monster that is the Crimson Tide Nation. I don't know if he has any idea what he's gotten himself into but I sure hope he does and I hope he enjoys it. While the media and I suppose some fans don't too much like Saban's sour demeanor I believe he acts precisely how a coach should act. In fact, and try not to get too angry with me for saying this, but he reminds me of the Bear.
Is there another program in the nation with fans who expect to win National Champion ships regularly and win back-to-back National Championships on occasion? Is there another program in the nation with fans who expect and believe their team will be the first team to three-peat as National Champions? Is there another program in the nation with fans who even contemplate a four-peat?
The Crimson Tide Nation monster is alive and kicking and it has one heck of a coach leading it so my advice is to watch out.
When the teams like Boise and TCU actually play a meaning full schedule let them contend for a national championship. But if college football went to a play off schools like these will never make it past the first round. And as much as i hate agreeing with a bama fan, untill you have a real football feild, you shouldn't even be mentioned in the conversation of best team in the nation. The BCS game this year was the best in the last 5 and even with a QB that turned 18 about a week before it started the horns still made it a game. Bama is a great team and better them then the Gators.
If I'm not mistaken, when Boise State won its first Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma 43-42, Texas lost the Red River Classic to that same team! And the TCU team I watched play Boise State this year in the Fiesta Bowl could have played and beat the horns!!!!
Undefeated Boise State was lucky to beat a down year Oklahoma that year with a Sooner wide receiver at quarterback for Oklahoma. And Texas won the Red River Classic in 2006 albeit when the officials called an obvious Sooner dropped forward pass a lateral that was scooped up for a false UT TD.
Alabama has two losses coming in Tuscaloosa and a road loss. Ouch!! Combine that with Texas losing to OK and bevo getting bbq'd in Neb and we'll have seen the last of the supposed big time footballers from these two titans of mediocrity. I appreciate fans supporting their teams but can't wait to see them mumble excuses and cry about soft schedules etc. without looking at their own patsy laden list of preseason warmups. Whahhh! I really like some of the other schedules for other Big12 teams that set up potential zero loss seasons. The SEC teams are all so weak they won't be able to field a team that can beat anyone not in their own conference.
I wonder how many sec games you have actually watched, to form an opinion like that? Yes my son just graduated from the bcs championship team and was part of that destructive "D", so I believe that as a parent of the sec, and being from the big-10 and an avid follower, it wasnt easy for me to give in to all of the sec hoopla until I became an active follower for my son so after watching year after year of incredibly tough games/close games/dramatic win/losses over the years I can honestly say that after Bama lost to FL (they should have won but just stop fighting) in 08 and then the nail in the coffin to UT - the fans/parents could tell that something "clicked" in those players heads and they were DETERMINED to wipe up the floor with EVERYBODY starting with VT and ending with TX! It wasnt easy but, with sheer DETERMINATION and NEVER QUITTING it was true GRIT and a mean ass devil coach and his staff that helped those kids have each others back and go out there and MAKE people turn up the heat without constantly seeking the attention of being #1! What an awesome UNDEFEATED season it was and for my son to wind it up with not only his degrees but, an sec championship ring, playing with the first Heisman Trophy winner (truly deserved and hard earned), as well as a BCS Championship ring, then on to meeting the President - if most of us live to be 100, we'll NEVER experience what he walked away with in one year! It still hasnt hit him yet, hes a very non-impressive low key kinda kid but, I think once they get their rings that it WILL hit him like a ton of bricks and then you might get a THANK YOU LORD and a smile!
CONGRATULATIONS and Roll Tide Roll!!!!! Thank you team/coaches/fans for an incredible ride!!!
Don't really know who will win next year but look at what is going on in Texas. So far they have played in the finals of the CWS then for the BCS championship and right now are rated number 1 in basketball. There overall athletic program is head and shoulders above anyone else. Oh by the way, I root for LSU but hats off to Texas.
Texas has the money to spend on all of the sports and the players. How else did a blinged out Vince Young attend pro sports events when he was an underclassman at UT? U$C and U$T? Indeed.
Nobody was that good this year. 2009 Texas would have been fourth place...in the 2008 Big XII South. This year's Bama team would not have made the SEC championship game last year. At least this years game wasn't played on a de facto SEC home field. LSU playing in New Orleans twice and Florida playing in Miami should have an asterisk beside the BCS title.
I dont think there is any way Alabama would have beaten Texas with Colt at QB...No way...They were lucky to beat a freshman that have not started a game yet after gifting them 21 points.
Look. . .if all your pathetic Texas hopes rests on 1 player then you don't deserve to be playing for the national championship anyway! If we loose our Heisman winner we take him out and replace him with Trent Richardson. . .probably a future Heisman winner. Oh and by the way. . .our QB was playing with broken ribs. . .suck it Texas BOI!
What will it take to make all the Texas whiners shut up!! Bama won get over it!! Bama still would have won with your precious McCoy playing!! It takes a team to win not a QB alone!
There are a lot of talented teams that will be extremely competitive next year. However, in looking at returning talent, Alabama and Virginia Tech look loaded at running back. If VT gets by a very solid Boise State team with the first game, watch them at the end of the year...They will be playing after New Year's Eve...
Rutgers will be the surprise team of the country and get to the BCS Bowl. They will play Ohio State and win 21-17. Rutgers will also get an invite to become the 12th team in the Big 10(11-12). You read it here first.

Roll Tide, Go Bama
Bama got lucky McCoy got hurt. It would've been a different beast with him in there!! HOOK'M HORNS!!!
Colt proved he is a puss. Either play or shut up. Don't cry after a game when you didn't even play. If he had played it might have been worse.
Same could be said of the Longhorns....y'all were lucky that Bradford got hurt or else you might not have made it to play Bama.
I'm a Gator Fan and I agree that the BCS system is busted. The only reason it isn't moving is the closed door money making deals with the inventors of the BCS. Would someone explain to me and "smith of no reason" how having a blue football field is an unfair advantage? Get real!!!

Well Boise State wont have to worry about an undefeated season this year when they lose their first game. Go Hokies!
We'll see when Moore picks that brand new secondary apart. Go Broncos!!!!!!
