Every player on the list could legitimately be considered "most valuable," but the Blackhawks could have won without any one of them (omitting Pronger, of course) except Niemi, who is the only one without whom the team could not have won. Therefore, I voted for him as most valuable player of the playoffs.
I also voted for Niemi, who had a great playoffs. The Blackhawks could not have won without him. Toews was a good choice for MVP; he tied Denis Savard for most playoff points in Blackhawk history. I'm a Chicagoan, and I was too young to remember the 1961 Stanley Cup. This is great for the city of Chicago! Hope the Cubs will be next (but probably not this year).
I thought Niemi deserved a vote also BUT offense wins games - Niemi's defense kept them in every game. Toews would have been my choice given what he has accomplished this whole year - Congratualtions Chicago Blackhawks - you deserve the Award and so much more....Rob La Scola
Towes is one of the hardest working, smartest and talented young men in the NHL today. He led the way for the quest for the cup and never gave up. He grinds it out, digs it out, blocks it, passes it to others who score and puts it in the net too. He's not always the most flashy player but he's always part of the action. He's very unselfish and that's why he's one of the yougest captains in the NHL. I'm proud to say he played at North Dakota and wish him nothing but hte best. He also looks like a young Neil Young with his chops! He "Won't be denied!"
Arguably one of the best two-way centers in the game, Toews lead this team with his quiet confidence and unshakeable determination. He was a monster in the face-off circle, generated scoring chances, worked hard on the forecheck, and got back on defense to block shots and disrupt plays. He was a joy to watch, and it's clear that a year with Marion Hossa (one of the best puck-handlers out there) has improved his game.
The kid's gonna need one heck of a trophy room before his career is over.
This kid not only has the talent but he is high on class. He will be the greatest player since Bobby Hull to wear a Blackhawks sweater!
