It has been said that a team can always beat an individual over time. The Suns have the best team of ten players in the league.
If you get called for half the fouls as the other team and shoot 3 times the free throws,
you should win. Didn't the lakers make more field goals ? If the situation reverses
on Thursday, the Lakers will win by 30 even if the Phoenix bench scores 50. Watch tomorrow's game and see how fouls are called and how it decides who wins..
The Lakers were called for more fouls because...wait for it...they COMMITTED more fouls. The free throw disparity has little to do with the refs and everything to do with the fact that the Lakers were once again a perimeter team. When you shoot a bunch of jump shots instead of driving to the hole, you don't spend a lot of time on the line. An additional factor was the Suns' offensive rebounding: when a team grabs an offensive board, the defense often has little choice but to foul the rebounder, who otherwise will make an easy shot in the paint.
I definately thought it was going to be an all Lakers/Celtics final. But what a minute....is it me or are there TWO first string NBA teams playing for the Suns at the same time??
That bench is a force to be reckoned with if they show up over the next few games. It was almost not fair tonight for the Lakers! What a well balanced team the Suns were this evening!!
relax. let's not get carried away by a 2-2 series. the end result doesn't change. Home court is huge in this series and a ticked off laker side will boot the suns off the floor in game 5. then they will relax in game 6 and win game 7. Phil understands this. The Celtics will prevail in 6 games. It's still a Lakers Celtics series. If Bynum gets hurt, this will go 7 games. If he's ok, LA sweeps Celtics. the 2 best teams in the NBA are playing in the western final. Phoenix deserves to be in the finals and i would root for them, but i'm going with the lakers since they are more pro american as supposed to a pro illegal mexican phoenix side.
If you watched the game tonight, you are just ignorant, or likley just plain dumb. How can you even think about a celtics series? I guess it's the same mind-thought as being pro illegal mexican. Do you know how dumb that sounds? I guess not if you are thinking about the Celtics. Well, no worries - the lakers get to play the celtics twice next year...
A factor that NickLA doesn't realize yet is that Kobe & Ga'y'sol can't stay on the floor for 60 minutes & expect to win a 7 game series. The depth of the Suns (especially Dragic) helps the Suns more than you can measure. Letting the starters rest game-in & game-out for 20+ minutes is huge in a series. The only reason the suns didn't steal one of the first 2 was because the bench missed more than thier average amount of shots. But one thing about averages, there is always that upswing! If the suns bench (particularly Fry & Dudley) hit thier shots 40-50% of the time...this series goes to the Suns.
Obviously for the Lakers but after seeing Obama predict Lakers win I'm thinking it's not going to happen. Why does Obama hate LA so much.
the suns will kick the lakers in the ocean!, LET IT BE WRITTEN!, LET IT BE DONE!!.
The Lakers are in their blaming eachother mode for losing which means they are done. The Suns are just too fast and the Lakers simply can not keep up with them. This keeps putting the Suns on the stripe as the Lakers try to slow them down. No team has a chance when the three pointers drop like they are now which is what the Suns are very capable of doing on a regular basis. Just ask the Spurs. The Suns have the momentum and the confidence and will not look back. Goodbye Lakers and Obama with your worthless predictions. Even Kobe can't save you now.
First off I think that the Suns are a great team. What I do not agree with is the way the officiating can be so lopsided in series like this. I wish that for once the refs would show some consistency and call the game even. A foul is a foul regardless of who it is on.
Just because you have a superstar make a shot and get slapped, this is still a foul. The expectation is that since a person is a superstar they do not get the calls a regular player would get.
This is how I know not the complain about officiating: I feel the same way you do but in reverse. I know the refs have a tough job and it can be a very fast game, so I'll just complain in general that the NBA has the worst officiating of any professional sport.
BTW, being a superstar GETS you more calls, you have that fact flipped too.
Either team can win this series, both are excellent. After game 2 every Lakers fan was s-ing their pants about a Lakers/Celtics finals; now after game 4 every Suns fan is going crazy about the Suns being unstoppable. The only unstoppable thing so far in the series has been Kobe Bryant, and the only thing worth s-ing your pants over is that we've been able to watch to damn good basketball here on the west coast (unlike the snooze-fest east coast games; besides Rondo's play of course).
With all that said, I hope so badly that the Suns pull it out and take the series. It'll take some kind of miracle, or just consistent excellent basketball, but I think the Suns can win the series against this superb Lakers team. Besides, does anyone outside LA really want to see another Lakers/Celtics series? I don't. GO SUNS!
They must have some good maryjane out their in the desert, because it is obviously rendering you incapable of sound judgement. The Suns aren't too fast for the Lakers, nor are they better, nor do they have all the momentum. Keep in mind that last year Denver tied the series 2-2 against the Lakers...then everyone said that the nuggets had the momentum and were going to the finals. Then LA proceeded to hand Denver a whuppin' the last two games and won it all on Denver's court. Same this year, next two games the Lakers win mightily and take it 4-2 on Phoenix's floor. Have a nice day and be sure to root for the Lakers in the finals.
We'll all be expecting a recantation Mike if the Suns take this series.
You have no judgement at all, only the standard line of all you ignorant Lakers's fans which is Lakers in 4, oops, then its Lakers in 5, oops, then it's Lakers in 6. This is not the eighth seeded team in the Western Conference or the Jazz with key players injured. This is the Suns who had a better record than the Lakers all this year. A few weeks ago I remember people were talking about how the Spurs will take down the Lakers when they play eachother. Ha ha. What happened there. Sorry, but the Suns are faster and have confidence and momentum after winning the last 2 games. Only a die hard fan like yourself would not admit that.
You mention the Denver series last year, how about 2006 when the Suns came back from being down 3 games to 1 to beat the Lakers.
Boycott LA.
Perhaps, but the last I check the Suns aren't the Nuggets...and the last 3 out of 4 times the Suns & Lakers met in the playoffs, guess what? The Lakers were sent to thier couches to watch the rest of the season finales. So, you can't really refference previous years work unless you're prepared to concede that the Suns have owned the Lakers in that regard :o)
ok, Sport media and everyone in La, suck up to those Lakers like their Gods..ok, they won many rings, so has the celtics...they are a good team, not the best in the league...Phil jackson not a great coach, he just has good players, I like to see him with his Zen bull..go to the clippers and develop like Larry brown style..check it, member back in 2004, when the world thought Oh the Lakers going to beat the Pistons..haha..they got their asses broke off..because the team with the MENTAL GAME always knows how to win, homies on the real..so my money is on the Suns, Great players: check...great point guard/leader: Nash (awesome man on/off court) Hill (older but still awesome) then Amare, young, tough hungry:check..and the bench is young, having fun, and aint scared...say what you want about "girlie zone" and all that b.s. its working and the Lakers are looking like a good team w/o answers..it happen, will the win the series, maybe maybe not...but the Suns are showing they are no JOKE...they are all superstars...no arrogant, cocky, "its all about me" mentality there...Its time for a new team to shine...and its Phoenix in my eyes...you never know what can happen in the series...hell, the Magic may turn Tragic into triumph and wow the media will be going crazy as hell...LOVE THE NBA..HOLLA
Captain Canada leads the way against the over-hyped Lakers. If not for the great Kobe Bryant it wouldn't be close. Suns are too fast, too tough { broken noses put back into place on the run }, and hungrier. Steve Nash gets his ring etc. The desert will be in full bloom in a week or two in purple and white. NBA championship in Pheonix. Go Suns.
Lakers have been these situations time and time again in past 3 playoffs. Lakers are going to regroup in L.A. and win. Hopefully, get a win Phoenix, but they'll close the series out in L.A. for game 7. GO LAKERS!
timultious, did u get your fake green card yet ? how many titles does phoenix have ? we've seen these dozens of times during the course of lakers double digit titles. u sound as if phoenix is on to something. wake up from your fake fairy tale. lakers had okc tie them also. if u listen to any sports station, they were all talking about the pro illegal los suns officiating. don't get me wrong. its not los suns fault, the NBA wants this thing to go 7 games or at least 6, just like the celtics series. but if u think it gives los suns any hope, maybe wash up a bit on the illegal side of the rio grande and freshen up first.
pro illegal suns officiating in games 3 and 4 ? no problem refs. be consistent in LA during game 5.
"This is a Suns team who had a better record than the Lakers all this year." Um, so that is why the Lakers have home court against them? And also why the Lakers beat them 3 out of 4 times during the regular season?
I love it when Suns fans bring up the fact that the Suns owned the Lakers in previous playoff series. Yeah, that was when the Lakers were a mediocre 7th or 8th seeded team with just Kobe Bryant and when the Suns had Raja Bell and Shawn Marion, 2 key players they traded away. Besides, I think Spurs fans were saying the exact same thing not too long ago, they owned the Suns in the playoffs. My how things change.

I am rooting for Los Suns, but the Lakers just have too much depth, especially in a long series. Lakers in 7.
