Some Flyers fans are too classless to celebrate a Cup championship. Go 'Hawks!!!
wow... talk about classless from a Hawks fan! does the word "Hypocrite" sound familiar? seems like you've been called this a time or two in your life time. i'd peg a snowball with a battery in it at you anyday for a comment like that.
LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!
wow... classless huh? sounds like to me you've been called a hypocrite more then once in your life. you've got some nerve to call the entire fan base of the Flyers classless... you realize your the classless one making a statement like that. i'd gladly be one of those "classless" fans who pegs a snowball with a battery in the middle of it at your face.
LETS GO FLYERS!!!!! BRING THAT CUP ON HOME BABY!!
Yeah the first comment about the flyers fan base was slightly unneccesary, but on the same note, Flyers Hockey Girl, you kind of affirmed my fellow Hawks fan's statement by threatening to throw a battery-stuffed snowball at them for saying it... yeah it was unnecessary and I wouldnt say the Flyers fan base is classless (though I would say joe thornton and the Sharks definitely deserve to be called that) but once again you kind of affirmed his statement with your over-offended threat.
Wow, now THAT'S a classless post! I would better describe this matchup as "Classic". Both teams are starving for a championship and this cup will be hard fought.
I believe you may be referring to Eagles fans: they get quite loose. Let's focus on both teams' outstanding efforts, and less on hockey fan reputation.
By the way, Flyers in 6!
Sorry, I have to go with the basic stats here-- the Hawks are younger, faster, better on the PK, better on the advantage (and although they didnt show much penalty control in game 1), and generally better at keeping out of the box. also dont forget that Niemi, Toews, and Byfuglien are the #1, 2, and 3 runners for the Conn Smythe as of this morning's polls... Sorry but Ill give the Flyers 1 win in this series, hawks win in 5.
I'm a Chicago fan, so I'm going with the Hawks. It should be a tough series, Philadelphia will be loose, and the pressure will be on the young Blackhawks.
I Think the Flyers will bring out the best in the Blackhawks, to show that they are a great team. Hawks in 6.
What an unbelievable regular season and playoffs, Multiple injuries, inconsistency, and adversity have faced this Flyers team this year but not only do they squeak into the playoffs with a shootout goal, they are now into the stanley cup after beating supposedly best team in the east New Jersey Devils, came back from an 0-3 deficit against the Bruins, and beat the Habs in unbelievable fashion. Birdie17, you know nothing about class, what have you heard about our Flyers fans other than us being *loud and obnoxious* (Quote by Hal Gill). Whose hockey fans arent? Flyers in 6! GO FLYERS!!
I really don't care which team wins now that the Bruins are out of it. But I will say that I am thrilled that the Habs finally got bounced. I am sick and tired of their boorish, knuckle-dragging fans booing the American National Anthem before games. Maybe Canada would be better off cutting that province loose? Anyway, I always have felt that "Oh Canada" is an incredible, soaring, masterpiece, and I would never consider booing during its playing. I even sing along sometimes when the right voice is singing it on TV. Glad to see the Habs go. They were lucky twice but crapped out against the Flyers.
You're a Bruins fan but don't really care who wins!
I am a Bruins fan too!
And I sure know who I want to win!
Go Hawks!
This should be a great series. Both teams match up with one another extremly well and are both very talented. As a flyers fan I want them to win but this is way to close to call. Worst case is we all get to watch great Hockey.
Hate the Flyers, love good hockey. Should be pretty damn fun to watch. Hawks in 6
Philly and the Hawks "a classic?"
Not quite. There is nothing classic about Philly unless it's those Cooperalls they once wore. Oh, not classic either? Then there is nothing.......
The classic series would have been Hawks and Habs.
Go Hawks!
Flyers in 6! Laviolette should get an award for what's he's been able to do with this team. Now they have their best players coming back from injury, and getting hot.
chicago is a classless town, they'll choke
Coming from a philly fan that means less than nothing. You guys will finally have to play a great offensive team, we will destroy you. Itialian Beef over Cheesesteaks any day of the week.
First off Dan-1596899 learn to spell italian and second the hawks are good but young-They will fold under the pressure. And third cheesesteaks are beef. But after visiting the windy city i can see why you cant spell, And how many teeth are missing from your grill?
First off JerseyShoreJoe if the spelling police are out let's capitalize "Italian. "
Second, I believe (IMO) that Philly will be playing the best team by far that they have played so far in post season. I think Philly would have lost to the Sharks in 6.
Third, I don't believe I read where Dan had disputed the contents of a cheesesteak but stated that the Chicago style Italian beef was superior (and yes it is freakin good).
... as for the "cant spell" comment, can't is a compound word that gets an apostrophe and I know a few hockey players and myself that have "lost" a chiclet or two playing the game, no biggie.
They WILL CHOKE on the Ice cold beverages they will be drinking from the Cup all summer long GO HAWKS
The way they've been playing lately and how they've been winning, absolutely "FLYERS" in , get this 5 games
Flyers in 6. The Hawks are a great young team and have alot of talent. But they have little experience. This cup will be decided by great goaltending. We have two hot young goaltenders going head to head. Expect several close games decided by one goal. Both teams have shown their scoring prowess throughout the playoffs, but strong defense will play a key role in victory.I love that the Flyers are the underdog. They have been the underdog since before the playoffs began, and continued to be in each series that they won.The only concern I have is the five day layoff until the action resumes. The last time the Flyers returned from a weeklong layoff, they lost the first 3 games to the Bruins. But we've all seen what happened in that series. As soon as the Flyers get in their rhythm they are a hard opponent. I am excited for this series to start. Good luck to all of the Blackhawk fans. I don't expect this to be an easy series on either side of the puck.
Flyers in 6! B'Hawks have Hossa the bad luck charm on the team...where ever he goes, teams loses the SC.....he's a tool...
I think i only want there to be a game 7 so that there is just one more day of Hockey. I live for this sport... but i know the Flyers are going to take it in 5. This will be Hossa 3rd playoff on his 3rd team... i dont seem them going anywhere. he is a jynx. haha
Poor Flyers Hockey Girl, you will eat those words. If you live for the game then you know the skills Hossa has and will use on the weak crease and lack of depth.
Be careful, reality trumps wishes (and jinxes) every time.

Vlad in TN... ur delusional.. hell u being a wings fan got beat by the Coyotes... HA. Hossa lets too many goals slip past him. hes going to choke under the pressure again. hes not just a jynx... hes talentless. i do live for the game and i know talent when i see it. FLYERS IN GAME 5
The REAL match-up
2010.................. GP.. G... A .. Pts. +/-
Patrick Kane CHI 82 30 58 88 16
Duncan Keith CHI 82 14 55 69 21
Jonathan Toews CHI 76 25 43 68 22
Patrick Sharp CHI 82 25 41 66 24
Jeff Carter PHI 74 33 28 61 2
Marian Hossa CHI 57 24 27 51 24
Mike Richards PHI 82 31 31 62 -2
Danny Briere PHI 75 26 27 53 -2
2010 and 57 games w/51 pts. is better average then anyone on the Flyer team and he's only ranked 5th in offense on the Hawks. (also check out your club "leaders" +/- and how sad that is) I know they don't report the real facts in Philly but the Flyers are in way over their heads!
and I know you don't want to hear the sad facts on your goaltender problems, but if you do, just look up the stats on NHL.com
Vlad in TN put up a good point, the fact that Flyers fans aren't really paying attention to the stats and going off of the assumption that a lack of postseason experience will spell the doom of the Hawks... the Sharks (who were the best team in the west) lost to the hawks in a 4 game sweep... Please, explain to me where the young Hawks folded under the pressure? They folded last year in the playoffs, now that most of the youngsters on the team have experienced almost 25 postseason games, their chances of folding are significantly lower than you would think... not to mention that the flyers in the regular season only scored 88 pts as a team, which in the west conference would have ended them in a solid 12th place. the hawks, on the other hand, scored 112, which pits them at #2 in the west, just 1 point behind the sharks, and #3 in the NHL this year, behind the caps that made a ridiculously fast exit from this years playoffs. I'm sorry, but as much adversity as the flyers faced this year they played against some unusually poor playoff teams to get into the cup, i.e. the 8th seed Canadiens and the 6th seed Bruins (yes i realize that the Flyers were 7th seed), whereas the hawks towards the end played the #1 seeded Sharks and 3 seeded Canucks to make it to the Cup. I'm sorry, but the talent the Hawks played against were far more than the Flyers had to battle, and now that the Flyers have to battle a younger, stronger, faster, more energetic team I don't see the Flyers making it much past game 5 against the Hawks.
And for the record, I might be a Hawks fan and am rooting for them wholeheartedly, but nonetheless I took the time to look up the stats and make sure that what I said was as accurate as I could get it to prove my point, not going off saying chicago style pizza is the best or that the Flyers fans are rowdy. I could care less about all of that, all I look at is the stats. and the stats show that the Hawks are heavily favored in ALMOST every category.
Hawks in game 5 will own the big silver cup. The Norris division is disabling to weak teams. Game 1 & 2 may well be split but after 4 there's a great chance the Hawks will be up 3-1 and game 5 will be The CRUSHING on Madison St.
what idiots you black hawk fans,,did you see what flyers had done in the pass few games ,wake up!~your pizza sucks and cheesesteaks rule !!!!
Did you see who they were playing. I'm a Wings fan but skill beats wishes and cheesesteak every time... Hawks have the skills and depth.
I'll see you back on this thread/board after 4 games and we'll talk again, OK?
Vlad
BTW, I like Jet's deepdish pizza (Detroit) and Philly cheesesteaks too... how can you not, but that don't win games!
what a hole,, you don't uderstand the game all of you, i play the game .IT take guts and heart to win at times and i sure the flyer can show that,i still say flyers in six no matter what you say,, but the key is flyers must not get in the box,,,flyers in six
???? what a hole
ok hockeyqueen, playing with a tennis ball and rollerblades don't count.
as for the Flyers better not get in the box, I see just the opposite. The Flyers better come out hitting so hard and finishing brutal checks so often that the refs feel obligated to call some sitting time on them. That could take the Hawks off their game for a bit. In the end passing skills and defense will reign and the Hawks will hoist the Cup!
Come on now, I play the game too but sometimes as much guts and heart you have doesn't make any difference in who you play, if they have that same heart, that same gut, that same determination, and that same push for greatness. the simple fact of it all is that the Hawks GM (who now, unfortunately enough, I believe went to the Panthers to be their new GM) drafted the right people to make a strong, young, and talented force. Unfortunately, every single player the flyers have an equally competent opposing player from the Hawks... Briere vs. Kane, Carter vs. Toews, Keith vs. Pronger... there's a TON of talent on the ice, no doubt, but most of that talent lies in the Hawks' lines. The only person I would have given you the advantage on is Leighton over Niemi, but now after the goalies both gave up 5 goals a piece in game 1, I'm not so sure either of them are outright better, though Quenneville stuck with Niemi unlike Laviolette who pulled Leighton for Boucher (although that was a good thing to do, the only problem is the Hawks have the world's worst playoff backup in Cristobal Huet)
Actually Vlad both the Flyers AND the Hawks are pretty even in postseason scoring, almost dead even. But don't forget the Hawks haven't been too good at home. And the Flyers beat them in the final seconds of the third period of the only game in which they met this season. Being a Redwings fan, I don't see how you came to these theories (Unless you are just a Flyers hater.) Which would make perfect sense since everyone outside of Philly hates the Flyers. And here's a +/- for you. The Flyers didn't make the cup final on plus/minus stats, so the only plus that matters is that they are still playing.I can't say which way the series will go. I want to say Flyers in 6. But this can very easily be a 7-game series and it can come down to one person scoring or one defensive miscue.I can't wait until saturday. Flyers win game 1. Hawks score the first goal. 3-2 final score.
I hear ya DocHoc IF they had been playing teams of equal caliber in said post season but they were not. I am not a Flyers hater, hell they gave the Wings their first cup in 40 years in 1997 and for that alone I love 'em. When I was growing up in Detroit (we had an indoor hockey rink in our high school) you had to have a "second" team to root for. Through the 70's I had the Flyers, so I still like them just fine, plus Philadelphia is a great city with great people!
My feelings toward this series is that the Hawks are a much better team than the Flyers despite what Philly fan's hearts might tell them.
... and yes, I can't wait 'till Saturday, we're stocking up on beer, brown liquor and brats, Oh Yeah!
... where are all my new found friends?

GO FLYERS

Guess it's getting close to Phillies baseball time over by dair eh?
I hope you'll come back and play DOC Hoc!
someone posted cheesesteak rules, and thats all Philly has, Hawks will make history at the expense of the Flyers.Flyers are relying on pass glory to carry them how stupid. You can't tell me that Chicago hasn't al ready struck fear in the in the hearts of the flyers by sweeping the sharks and with the GAINT Byfuglien... watch and learn Philly it is over before it starts....
Everyone is an expert on this series. What it boils down to is can the smaller Hawks forwards take the punishment that the Flyers are bound to give them. Montreal, Jersey and eventually Boston couldn't and they are all done. I think the longer things go the more it favours the Flyers. Getting in on the last game of the year by beating the Rangers in a shoot out kind of makes them a team of destiny. My thoughts are Philly in 6 but if the Hawks win the first two then they should be able to make it a short series. Hope it lives up to the hype.
