There's an easy solution - all of the refuse of the league traditionally ends up in Al Davis' home for little wanderers, aka, the Raiders. Send him packing. Throw in a chastity belt and you might get an extra 7th round pick!
I love all the people saying "He's innocent, no charges" etc. Clearly most of those people don't know the first thing about the laws in Georgia, where it is exceedingly difficult to prosecute these cases. Put it this way: in most of the other states in the U.S. there would have been more than enough evidence to prove a jury of his guilt. But really, all that is besides the point. Whether he acted illegally or not, his conduct was unbecoming of the higher-than-average standards people in the NFL are expected to follow, the suspension is completely justified.
After years of bad behavior he won't change now. The suspension won't help him, I only hope it serves to wake up other players. This behavior should not be tolerated period, by an athlete or anyone else. It is time to stop giving athletes a pass until they can no longer perform. The best outcome is for the Steelers to release "Big Ben" and no one sign him.

No longer perform? What the hell are you, a fair weather fan? He took us to the Superbowl and WON not that long ago. My how fast people stab you in the back. His behavior might have been unbecoming, but nobody knows what really happened beyond the alcohol to a minor. (Like this doesn't happen all the time in bars around PA by everyday people. I graduated (20 years ago) with a guy who was in a bar underage, not only did he get served, but one of his teachers caught him there and didn't say anything!) Talk of trading him is stupid. Steelers haven't had a QB of his caliber since Bradshaw, and that goes for Brister, Cornell, and Tommy too. Trading him would be the stupidest thing they could do.
I think it's time for Ben to call it a day with the Steelers. Anyone else accused of these sex crimes would have been gone long ago. Why they keep giving him chance after chance is anybody's guess. There are other quaterbacks out there that are far better, and younger. What are they thinking, keeping him around with his embarrassing behavior? If these ladies were my daughters I make sure he saw jail time.

I have been a STEELER fan since the early 70's. One thing I have taken pride in is STEELER integrity. I am very disappointed that the STEELER's did not take their own action against Ben the first time, and now this, and then what? I don't care what he did or didn't do. He should not even be near those types of establishments. When you wear the Black & Gold you are held to a higher level of conduct. Not fair? Too bad. TURN IN YOUR UNI IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT! I believe the "old guard" would have cut ties with him a while back. If the STEELER's plan on keeping Ben then they need to ask themselves one simple question, and ask Ben as well. ARE WE DUMB OR ARE WE STUPID?
I have been a Steeler fan for several years (not always popular in Ohio). I will continue to be a fan of the Mighty Might Steeler's, but will NOT wear my #7 jersey anymore. VERY disappointing as I'm sure his coach and teammates are.
Sorry M, I have to disagree with you. I genuinely think, regardless of what they say or project in public, that as long as the guy wins games, they'll pay lip-service to the rest of it and secretively smile behind everyone's back. They sell jerseys, beer and peanuts by winning games. Character has never been an issue to NFL teams.
I was one that voted they should trade him, but I'm even laughing at myself. Who wants him? Then I read my previous paragraph. Someone will. None of them actually have morals. And they rip Tim Tebow for being too morally correct. Go figure...

What part of "no charges filed" don't you understand? BR wasn't even charged let alone convicted. If he was your son, or your cousin, would you want him punished further?

YES. He's a lower-than-life scumbag. I hope they stretch it out to the full 6 games. Too bad $2.8 million doesn't actually mean much to a guy that makes as much as he does. Frankly, given the release of the evidence a few days ago, I'm SHOCKED he was NOT charged! The investigating officer has resigned. His people blocked the bathroom door so her friends could not enter. The scene was not secured and was scrubbed clean the next day!! The woman involved told investigators that she "said no"!

I believe his punishment isn't enough. I have been a devoted Steelers fan since the 70's & I know in my heart that the Steeler fan base out there (the best fan base there is) can not be happy about his behavior either. He has disgraced the name of the Pittsburgh Steelers & in my mind, he is nothing but a sleez bag. Well, I guess he thinks money can get him anything, let's see what he does without his money. Roethlisberger should get more than a suspension. It just shows that an animal is more important than a sexual assault on a girl that says no. Oh my God!!!!!! What was I thinking. The ANIMAL did get a little slap on the bottom. Im glad the Jack Ass isn't my child.
I've followed the Steeler's since the 1940's and I can say that never have I seen the Management of the Steelers allow this type of behavior. Mr. Rooney n needs to let him go. If not I'll get rid of all my Steeler Stuff, cards,footballs,flags,towels, and all other collectables I have. I've worn a necklace with the Steeler emblem for the last 50 years but it will come off if Mr Ben is still around prior to the season starting. It's a sad day for the "Steeler Nation"
Problem there Bill is that you've already PAID for all that Steelers stuff you've collected. They've already made their money of off you. They still win.
Why fire him and let him become somebody else's problem He caused these issues as a Steeler. Steelers should deal with him in house and show the fans of the NFL that they are a First Class Organization. If they trade him, they are just part of the problem and have "NO CLASS". I am glad the commish had the moral authority to step above the law and deal with it as a morality issue. the message has been sent. Let's see who learns from it.

Ben is a chump. He is even dumber than Tiger. At least Tiger didn't rape the girls he had spread out around the country and world. Pay for them, give them gifts, do whatever you gotta do to keep them happy but raping a stranger in a bar is way over the line. Steelers should deal with him in-house and bench him for the season cutting his pay to ZERO. The money should then be given to the two girls in lieu of a lawsuit. That way, no lawyers get any money. Cudo's to the commish for having the moral ground and authority to suspend him. That's my thoughts from Lake Forest, CA.
I like it John. Bench him, give his salary to the victim's, don't line any lawyers pockets. Playing in the NFL is an honor. He truely has no respect for the anyone affiliated with the NFL or for women in our society. It is a shame that he irresponsible and immature. He has been a horrible role model for children that looked up to him and a disappointment to all of us. Trade him! Maybe he will learn a valuable lesson.
