I agree, "it's the playoffs", which seems to be the ONLY time these guys really show any passion for the game - but really, an elbow, at the end of a game already decided?! C'mon! I like Garnett's game but that elbow was totally uncalled for! The Miami player was trying to help Pierce up...not attack him. Absolutely, he should be suspended! Garnett is like a lot of players whose skills have diminished (either from injuries or with age), that feel the need to "contribute" - so, they become "thugs or hard" - (ala Rasheed Wallace). Celebrate "hard play, hustle and competitiveness but punish poor sportsmanship and thuggery". Let him sit and "think about his actions". I just hope his "crazed act" doesn't taint, what will otherwise be, a hard-fought and fun series to watch. Garnett should be in "time-out".
Richardson wasnt over there to help him up via his own words....he was over there to razz him. I thought the same thing looking at the replay, but he went over there to ask "Are you taking another break like you do so often?"......which I agree Pierce does. Pierce was taking his usual "injury" comeback. Do you think Garnett really would have reacted that way had Richardson asked "Are you ok?"......that wasnt anywhere near his lips.
Why is this trash called basketball. This brawl is what the NBA is all about anymore. Who can intimidate and beat up the other team. What a sport!! And the sport writers and others call it heart and desire to win.
That is more like Gladiators on Ice. No argument from me on that "sport" either.
My point was that this type of behavior is it is portrayed as taking it to the next level. For what was once considered a non-contact sport it just seems like it has been taken too far. I am not sure it has enhanced the game at all, and really I can think of two players who recently had severe facial injuries, Roy of Portland and Terry of Dallas. When you have these all out brawls, they have even digressed at times to fans being involved. Personally when this type of behavior happens, I would like to see significant penalties, 3, 4 5 game suspensions and $50K+ fines.
Why don't we wait and see what "Big Ben" gets for walking around in a club with his d hanging out.
KG just had his team mate hurt at the sidelines....a member from Miami heat came over. (who knows what was said?) One push led to another and then another. I think the call to give KG two technicals was a good one. He paid the consequences, and was taken out of the game so that the last 40 seconds would not erupt into anything else.
Let's not crucify KG because he happens to be human, with human emotions, and with a desire to protect his fallen team mate. I don't like the Celtics as a team, especially when they play the Lakers. But KG is a good man!
Pierced was fouled TWICE! Once by Richardson who shoved him out of bounds. Then he came over to taunt Pierce even tho he fouled him! Garnett told him to shut up and leave. Richardson didnt! And so it started. I think the refs blew it by not calling the fouls on Pierce. Then again, I see a LOT of stuff the refs dont call even tho they're standing right there!
So, it's the playoffs, so what. Should they change the rules and not call violations. Or, does KG get his own set of rules?

Let him sit, pushing and elbowing are two different things. Dallas had to sit Jet Terry in '06 so why not KG in '10?
Look at the repla!!!y the refs totally missed the call. They should have their performance reviewed.
if it was such an obvious foul, why did the refs have to play it back so many times? fine him big time, but suspension? no.

It's the playoffs! Let 'em go at it and have the players win or lose the game, not the refs. Only the most flagrant calls should be made.
