With 4 minutes, Baylor had a basket taken away on a charge and Duke shot foul shots. Big change on another, " Refs love Duke calls".
Say what you will; I'm over overjoyed to see them advance to the Final Four. They, like most of the other teams, have worked hard and earned it. I think it's sad that you have to claim favoritism by refs as their means of advance rather than hardrwork and moving as a team.
The refs fouled out Lowers, the Baylor center, with hardly any court time on phantom calls. Zoubek, OTOH, lasted fo rDuke until the game was in hand, and even drew a pathetic charging call that should have gotten him disqualified. The NCAA and CBS always have the fix in.
Mike N has it right. The NCAA, refs and CBS had to make sure the sainted Coach K and his boys were in the finals. Disgusting, a team like Baylor that picked itself off the floor, fought back is jobbed because the fix is in.
At least Vince McMahon admits his sports is entertainment and makes no bones about letting talent will out.
Duke always get the close calls, especially those phantom technical fouls...what a joke. Just annoint Duke at the beginning of the season and forget about the games....what tournament.
I looking for Butler to win it all and shock the world which would be great for college basketball!
I am personally hoping for Butler to face Duke and beat them. Watching the crowd in Indy scream at the Dookies would be worth it.
We're Carolina people, but the tournament isn't complete unless someone represents the ACC. GO DUKE! We might be in the little tournament this year, but we're still playing... GO TARHEELS!!!! Hopefully, it can be all ACC .........NCAA Champs and NIT Champs.
Baylor hammerd Duke the whole game. What does Duke have to do to get a call? the refs have kept coach K out of the Final Four for six years. It's about time they got a break.
Unless your sport is not a sport but a scam, the good and bad calls at this level even themselves out. Those of us who don't want Duke up there are the same people who root for the Mets in a Yankee town; dull, mechanical players led by dull, mechanical coaches bore us.
I agree that the refs blew this one. Duke wouldn't be there without their help. It is a shame that they do that. Calls that are so obvious should make them lose their job as a ref. Baylor beat Duke the whole game until the 4 min mark when the refs gave it to Duke. I watched it with mine own eyes. Sickening Man! My team will win it all tho. Go BUTLER!!!!!
WVU will beat Duke, unless WVU gets a few technicals for swinging elbows wildly without their hands on the ball. Baylor had every right to be angry at that one. WVU will grind Duke the entire game, let's hope the Duke Cry Devils don't get too upset ant a good ol' fashioned Mountaineer whoopin. Let's Go Mountaineers!!!
Must be a Duke fan because only a Duke fan would really think we all care that much about them. There's a contradiction here too. You can't say ratings have been way down since 1979 and claim Duke can save those ratings...they've been in what TEN of them since then...so where are all those monster ratings those years...Truth is, the only time Duke's ratings are good is when they play UNC. Other then that, most of us would rather watch Baylor.
Celizic, you and Dick Vitale need to realize that you two are in love with each other, retire, and run off to a deserted island together.
ok... give the call to Baylor.. Duke still comes away with a 1 or 2 point win... maybe a 4 point win in over time. You have to hit the boards and play defense. The way I see it Baylor slacked off in the last 3 to 4 minutes. Shooting_%_wise as the their coach said they should have won, but boards + 2nd shots+ defense = win in most cases and it did in this one as well.
How are 2 and 3 seeds Cinderella teams? You could argue that WVU should have had the last #1 instead of Duke.
It's articles like this that make me wish FireJoeMorgan was still up and running....
Of course, I'm rooting for MSU. I wouldn't call them or some other teams a "Cinderella" team. After all, the sports writers all picked Kansas to be #1 and win it all! Ha, see what they know! Besides with all the things that can go wrong, including a key injury here and there to any given team, can mean 1 loss and you go home. Look how many of the supposed teams lost already! Let's face it, any school that gets in to the "Sweet 16" level, deserves to be there. Since there's really only ONE winner, are the rest of them just "Cinderellas?" As far as television goes, you have two choices: Watch the games or turn them off. Television shouldn't be running or worrying about who watches what! If the networks don't like it, let them not bother to show it! After all, it's all about money, isn't it? Such as the "way too many" commercials that one sees in any given tournament game! Someday, we probably won't have the ease to watch these games without some type of up front payment. Good, I'll just go do something else! As of now, I can spot tape any program and see it later and skip through the "fillers, commercials" they throw at us day in and day out...same for that stupid time wasting TODAY show! Count the commercials in any given 30 minute period...absolutely a time waster! Matt Lauer & Company is rarely seen in our home anymore! Yeah, I know, I got off the topic, but you get the drift, hopefully.
Commercials keep it free. CBS acts like a filter, deciding who sees what. Years ago, there was an effort to show more minutes of more games. What really stinks is the pay-to-see channels like YES, ESPN, Fox Soccer Network and MSG cost us money and still have commercials.
vic bubbas, chuck daley, hubbie brown, bobby verga, heyman, mullins, marin, vacendak, lewis, denton, dickie de.,...duke is about student athlete. our coaches are also teachers.
When I lived in NC, I couldn't believe grownups would pay so much attention to college sports. I assumed the college sports were popular because college sports was all they had in NC. I also assumed, working in an academic environment, that some of these adults were alum. Of course I was wrong about why these people pay attention to college sports. But I couldn't get excited then and can't get excited now about college sports. More interesting, up here, college sports are as crooked as any other variety. And twice as boring.
