This is golf, not pro football, basketball or baseball. People who boo and heckle will be removed from the Master Tournament. Pure logic.
It is what it is! Golf is about character, and in that respect Tiger is 'out of bounds.' Of course there should be forgiveness, but also there will be consequences. He is a tremendous golfer, possibly the best ever. Notwithstanding, when it is all 'said and done,' at best; he is forever DQed as great, greatest or anything more than 'sub par.'
Golf is all about putting that little white ball in the hole with least number of strokes. The first few tournaments may be uncomfortable for all involved, but eventually it will be business as usual.
You're right. According to golf rules, an out-of-bounds shot requires you to hit another shot for the tee with a penalty stroke added. Let Tiger hit again and watch greatest again.
He should get a normal, not necessarily warm, welcome. That's human nature I suppose. But get on with golf at this point. We all know the details, we all know what he did and there are as many opinions about it as there are women he has had relations with. Bt it is time to just get on with golf and let them deal as they will behind closed doors. I hope it remains professional at wherever he plays. Who are we to continue to judge at this point. He will be paying for his indiscretions off the course for a long long time. Just let it be and focus on his golf. He might come back and suck, you just never really know
The worst thing about his return to golf will be the over-coverage by the media, especially the NBC announce crew. It has been quite pleasureable to watch and listen to golf on TV thus far, but when Woods returns all the focus will be on him. Too bad for the viewing audience.
It's not like he screwed the american public out of billions of dollars like say......some banks, insurance companies or gas companies. It's not like he was given a free pass during a congrssional hearing by a senator from Alaska. Give it up already and pay attention to the real movers and shakers in society like ........Erin Andrews. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA........
I believe he will accepted with little if any problem at all at the Masters! He is a great golfer and all who have followed him in the past will continue thier support of him. He deserves a second chance folks! Let's get behind him and cheer him on!! Great to have you back young man!
I hope he is booed off the course. The man leads a hypocritical life. He has done golf a massive disservice. Look at all the bad attention he has brought upon golf. The sponsors like nike who keep are just greedy bastards, and the people who idolize the guy who can't keep his prick in his pants r utterly stupid to pay to see a prick like him play. Go ahead people - pay your stupid money to make people like him and nike rich. americans are a bunch of classless thugs who have their priorities so far out of whack, its sodom and gomorrha again. think about how he has humiliated his wife and family. the almighty dollar and greed prevails. shame on tiger. shame on the people who pay to see the prick whack a ball around.
Like so many overpaid sports idols he couldn't handle success. And like so many, he will be given a second, and third if necessary, chance to bring more money to whatever golf tournament he chooses to play. I hope the fans respond as all good golf fans have in the past and give him the same respect as any other golfer--because that's the way golf is meant to be, but not because he necessarily deserves it.
Why are we surprised? Tiger is still honored by many, especially the media. I hope he honors his wife and family, then golf. Let him come back with some diginity.
Hopefully he will do good. I wish him the best. Go Tiger and do good.
if this was Elin (not sure about the spelling) she would be ostersized beyond belief, branded a whore and written off forever. That is exactly how she would be portrayed by the very ones that say give him his forgiveness and let him be. Thats just the way society is. He will get a free pass and forgiveness by most because he can play a game really well. Hopefully he gains a little humility from this though i don't believe he will.
Tiger better not play in any tournaments other than the Majors, because the other tournaments do not control the gallery as strictly.
Tiger's galleries used to be huge because he played awesome golf. Now, Tiger's galleries are going to be huge because he's a freak show, ...a cheater playing golf.
Tiger galleries used to be insane with wild cheering for him to win. Now, it's going to deteriorate into cat calls, outright boos, wails, wild cheering, and polite applause.
If I were Tiger, I'd just quit. When he cheated on those closest to him, it put us in our proper places as his fans, now former fans. There's an army of anti-Tiger fans out there now, and he's going to run into them everywhere. To those of us purists who love golf and the honor associated with it, what Tiger has done has left us bitter. Cheating is cheating. It doesn't matter if you're off the course or not. And Tiger was a serial cheater....a mass murderer of the game that gave so much to him.
He treasured his privacy, but he squandered it. We were all his fans, but he's forsaken us by displaying private behavior that would make anyone of integrity sick to their stomach.
There was a time that when a camera clicked off in his back swing before, we fans wanted to crush the offender, but we let Steve handle it. Now, I say that the camera guy should tell Tiger to go ____— himself. And then you'll hear the heckling. "Just hit the ball, Tiger. You ain't all that anymore. That was before. Now, play fool."
The only person Tiger cheated on was his wife. I have been a huge fan of his for years. I don't feel like he cheated on me or did anything to me or any other fan. If you are no longer a fan, then you weren't a true fan to begin with! I feel very sorry for his wife and his children, because the know it all world we live in, won't allow them to mend in private. Whatever he has done, is between him and his wife. He is still an amazing golfer and athlete.
Wrong ms. #1 fan. He played you and me for fools for years! Remember the squeaky clean image he sold us, what a bill o' goods that turned out to be.
Now, Tiger is the fool. Make no mistake, his former fans, and there are more than you realize, are not going to let him forget what he did to us for all these years. And since he's so "private" (LOL,) his payback will occur right there on the course. I'm ready and will be thrilled to read all the articles about heckling Tiger, as I refuse to watch him play anymore. And wait for it, Steve his caddy will belt someone and then here come the lawsuits! It will be a laugh riot.
Oz is right. If he were smart at all (and he's obviously not,) he should quit right now and leave the game forever.
He's an idiot. He's a fool. And I'm no fan of his anymore.
I'd like to see him heckled off the course; it would be good television, good poetic justice, and might just make professional golf less of a sissy 'sport'.
Sissy sport? Do you golf? I have a couple times and I can tell you not only is it very difficult, it is exhausting after about the 12th hole. I know it isn't Football, but it sure is more exhausting than playing baseball, mentally and physically.
He doesn't deserve any respect for the way he has acted. Furthermore, he will have a very difficult time earning it back. He is trash.
He is a complete scumbag. He was before all of this cheating episode and he still is. The fact of the matter is the players on the PGA tour and most people who have met him(me included), don't like him. He is arrogant and egotistical. He treats people like they are less than him, the great Tiger.
I hope he is booed by all and never wins another golf tournament
Sissy. I can't believe he entered therapy. For what? Great golfer but I lost a lot of respect for him when he checked himself in to a sex therapy clinic? What a crock!!! Cheer him as a golfer but he should be wearing a skirt out there on the links!
If there is heckling, those idiots will be escorted off the course as they should be.
The officials of the Masters don't screw around. Just ask Martha Burke.
I guess he does not have THAT much respect for the Masters. He should have picked a different tournament. The Masters is too steep in tradition. This makes the it all about the ratings, not the golf and other golfers.

This is a gathering of links, stories and votes that the editors at NBCSports.com like. Hopefully, Newsvine also like 'em.
If we can just keep it about the golf...and he's the best!
