These sports are dangerous. Any one of the luge runs could kill a competitor. A downhill skier could tumble and break a neck. A figure skater can come down wrong. A lot of these sports take a risk to compete in.
No doubt that the luger was a tragic accident that no one would want repeated. ..mistakes do cause injures but they should not cause death. I agree that they should do everything they can to make a sport safe, but I do take issue with something he said about looking at the caliber of the athletes..various countries sent the best athletes they have to compete, so who is the committee or anyone else to say that they are or are not quailified to compete esp in olympic games..
