Way to go Serena, just absolutely great.
Congratulations Serena - with the world rooting against you ... even your home country USA (at US open) - the sweetest word and most precious salve to a world of haters ... "VICTORY" ...
Against all odds said it: Serena overcomes a hostile crowd who took the tiniest opportunity to boo her. I think that really put her off for a while. The only ones who seem to be on her side are the tennis greats, Billy King and Navritalova. Did Tracey Austin comment against Serena?
Justine will keep getting sharper and will win a grand slam this year, probably the French. Serena cannot best her there
She will if Henin does not cheat her out of it again! Don't get me wrong, I love Henin's game! It is one of the best in tennis by far!
But what she did when she "beat" Serena at the last French final they met was plain wrong! In tennis you are suppose to have class as well as a good game! And yes, Serena's behavior at last year's US Open was embarassing and she should be ashamed of herself! But at least she did not cheat and that is more important!
Serena can best Justine at the French. It's Serena's year to win the French. She is already putting her mind to winning and when she does that WATCH OUT!!
Its truly the indomitable spirit of true champions that Serena and Venus Williams, who were practically shunned by the WTA initially with Mary Carillo and Chris Evert among the naysayers, have bitch slapped all the critics with their athleticism and ability. Even with hostile crowds within the US going for the European girls and whoever else, these girls have made it and shaped a once white only sport. A inspiration in the most robust way possible. Thank you Venus and Serena.
What is up with them ending up on the same side of the draw these last few Grand Slams?? Are they trying to give other players a better chance of getting to the finals and winning some money??
They (other players) need to earn it just like the Williams sisters. WTA, stop "fixing" the seeds just to see one of the sisters eliminated before the finals!! It is pretty obvious what you are doing and it smells!!
I really don't think will win the grand slam because I don't think she will hold up physically. She has been out since the Australian where she was heavily taped. She has the Australian, and she has a good shot at Wimbledon but I think she will struggle at the French and the US open. I think she will win 3 out of the 4.
