Kurt should be a HOF'er. He's got more "SB" rings that Marino!
So do Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson! Drew Bledsoe has more passing yards, TD's and completions. Jim Everett and Steve Deberg have more completions and passing yards. Vinny Testaverde and Dave Kreig have more TD's. Brad Johnson even has more completions.
Certainly no one can say they don't like the guy, he's a terrific person. Yes, Kurt Warner was great, for a little bit before he essentially disappeared, then he was great for a little bit. There was never any prolonged greatness. You know other guys that were great: Terrell Davis, Rich Gannon and Shaun Alexander but they too were only great for a little bit while winning MVP's.
Question: Who has thrown the most yards in a super bowl? Answer: Kurt Warner.
Question: Who has thrown for the second most yards in the super bowl? Answer: Kurt Warner.
Question: Who has thrown for the third most yards in the super bowl? Answer: Kurt Warner.
Any other doubts?????
Super bowl appearances should not be a criteria, or dilfer and brad johnson would get in. SBs come from the talent around the quarterback
Being a hall of famer has NOTHING to do with how many SB rings you bring home. Sorry chumps.
I have to agree. But the media uses that as a criteria and you know the voters do, as well. Never been much of a Warner fan, but he does have all the numbers to get in the first ballot.
Actually, JJB, I there are plenty of doubts. What's his record in those 3 Super Bowl appearances? Oh that's right, 1-2, and he accumulated all of those yards in the 2nd half of games coming from behind. Guess who's fourth in yards in a Super Bowl? That's right, Donovan McScabb, another loss. Yards in a Super Bowl is far less important than wins in the Super Bowl.
I'm not trying to put the guy down but you can be really good and not be a HOFer and that just so happens to be the category Kurt Warner falls into. There are plenty of guys who were excellent for a short period of time. Jim Everett played the same number of seasons in the NFL as Kurt Warner and has 2500 more passing yards! That hardly says HOFer. I don't know where these guys are getting the "he does have all the numbers to get in the first ballot" stuff.
They go through this every year with the baseball HOF, there are guys who were really good but the HOF isn't for guys who were really good, it's for the greatest of all time and 3 seasons of great and 2 seasons of great seperated with 5 seasons of average at best doesn't scream greatest of all time, no matter how good of a guy he is.
without a doubt a class act hall of famer. the nfl just got poorer.
Kurt Warner has done what many want to do and can't. His stats stand alone amongst some of the greatest of all time. Yes he is a Hall of Famer.
First ballot? Probably. Among the greatest of all time? Not even close.
OUShark, you just contradicted yourself and therein lies the problem with people considering Kurt Warner for the HOF. You think he's a HOF but then you say he's not even close to being "Among the greatest of all time"! If he's not "Among the greatest of all time" then he's not a HOF. Greatest of all time is the definition of the HOF.
No contradiction whatsoever. There are a lot of players in the Hall that aren't the greatest of all time. Damn good players of their era. Greatest of all time? That is rare company. If you restricted it to that criteria, you could reduce the floor space in the Hall considerably.
So what's your definition of a HOF then? HOF inherently means "here are the greatest players ever to play this game" and anyone who doesn't fall into that category doesn't belong. It's that simple.
I met kurt in phoenix arizona at the rescue mission on thanksgiving day, him his wife and other players were feeding the homeless and giving them jackets, sweaters etc, I admire him for the generosity he shows other people.
He has been a class act as long as he has been in the NFL. His stats are awesome...no question he is a shoe in
When you look at his career stats and add in the fact that he willing mentored several young quarterbacks I think you have to put him in.
His next gig should be mentoring Tim Tebow as he enters the NFL... what could be more perfect?
This is stupid. Why would you even ask this question. It is a no-brainer. Thank you Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kurt Warner is the type of great player that serves as a fine example to young players both with his superior ability on the field but even more in his personal life off the field. Yes, he the perfect candidate for the Hall of Fame.
he is one of the most proliic passers in history! add on he is a gentelman and has allows handeled himself with class..unlike some of the receivers he has played with at az....
Imagine what he could have done with a "full" career? Started at 28 so lost at least 2 yrs starting. Then tagged with fumble tag that cost him 4? Good thing the Cards and Giants shelved him as a has been for those years or he would probably own the record books.. Def a HOFER..
Super Bowl two different teams and one of them the most consistent losing franchise in pro sports. Please if he doesn't that is a true loss for the Hall of Fame!!!!
Don't agree with his politics but it's not a political HOF. The answer is YES. Another good American story.
Warner has been to more Super Bowls than Bette Davis Favre, and won just as many. He is also probably classy enough to retire, and STAY retired rather than sucking up all the coverage from more deserving players and stories.
He should be admitted to the HOF without question!!! There needs to be more good guys in the hall and he is one of them.
Acceptance into the Hall of the Fame should not only be based on what a played did on the field (Warner qualifies) but also how he handled himself off the field (one of the best the NFL has ever had!) so I say he should get "Two Thumbs Up" from the voters!
Give him OJ's spot! The HOF needs more examples of greatness on and off the field.
