Vikings played a great game. The Cowboys were ineffective in both offense and defense. If Brooking didn't want them to score, rally the 'boys to stop them.

If Dallas were ready to concede the game, then why keep stopping the clock? Let it run out and be done. And Dallas certainly didn't have any qualms running up the score against Philly when the outcome was no longer in doubt... Brooking is an idiot.

i believe a team should score if the defense is still trying to win. even though it was late, the vikes needed to make sure there were no miracle finishes. i would have tried to score again too. if the 'boys think it was bad they should have played to stop them.

Only ones making an issue of this are the Cowboys, their fans, and sport analysists who picked the wrong team...Cowboys are notorious for padding the score...just ask the Bills. Classless? My vote is for Brooking.

Sherry, how is Favre the "epitome of classlessness"? Because he POUNDED your Cowboys today? Because they talked TRASH all week long and LOST BIG? THAT was 'classlessness'? Nah... it shure wasn't when the 'boys played the Eagles and it sure wouldn't have been had the cleats been on the other foot.

DISCLAIMER: The comments below are meant in jest, to poke fun of and at the silly aspect of what is known as game situations...and as an example, what is now known as "the last score" which seems to be building momentum, and also seems to cause individuals (like me) to exert unnecessary energy (maybe even time) about a situation that cannot be changed and holds very little, if any, importance of day to day living, since the game is now in the past and only remains present in media, statistics, and emotions. Think "We'll get 'em next time..."

The beliefs or, dare I say, opinions from some individuals will not change the weather or stock markets, and certainly not the final score of the game (did I read a comment from someone who suggested a do-over? Really?) It's appears some individuals actually believe games with something like "the last score" NEVER happened before...and if they have, should NEVER happen again--Ever! I hope no fan who is outraged, offended, disgusted, or devastated by "the last score" will jump off a building or play on the highway or interstate--with a blindfold on. Incredibly, it makes a perfect kind of bizarre sense which pasture your feelings are located, if for instance, "the last score" occurred just as you were finishing the last slice of a gargantuan supreme pizza (with anchovies), this right after polishing off a garbage can sized-plate of spaghetti with meatballs bigger than bowling balls , causing you to jump up and blow chunks all over the Precious, the family dog, who used your lap as a springboard and pulled off a rather impressive full gainer with a half twist, but sadly, it was a failed attempt to avoid the tomato shower. In addition, whilest you were drinking a brewski, "the last score" made all 16 ounces (or was it half a keg?) an impressive spray from your nostrils like a garden hose becoming unkinked. Geez, what a waste of food and Budweiser.

There are those who have the realistic, common sense mindset of, "If the Cowboys didn't want the Vikings to make "the last score," then man-up and play defense like you supposedly are capable of doing and stop them." Or how about this one: "The Cowboys would NEVER have done that to the Vikings or any other team if they were put in the Vikings situation." If you are a Cowboys fan, come back down to earth and reality, get over it, and move on--maybe prepare for next years fantasy football "season." If you are a Cowboys fan, and are of the belief "your team" has never pulled off anything even remotely like "the last score" or that "your team" has never run up a score EVER, then you may want to roll back the archives and probably pull in a reality check as well. Because the Cowboys have in fact rolled up the score. I have some old ticket stubs from the 1978 NFC Championship game between the visiting Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Rams (yes, believe it or not, that's where the St Louis Ram came from). played in the Los Angeles Colosium. Sitting in Row #9 of the end zone opposite from the end with the pillars, I had a clear view of the play when, even with a score of 21-0 late in the fourth quarter and the game already in hand, Dallas kept its starting defense on the field. The Rams had a first and goal. Hollywood Henderson took an interception from our end all the way for yet another Cowboys touchdown. It wasn't the fact that the Cowboys had kept their first stringers on the field to stop the Rams from scoring, which would wipe-out a goose egg for the home team. It was the way Hollywood Henderson did his "thing." Good ole Tommy not only scored, but did an unheard of, humiliating, dunk over the goalpost crossbar. He just couldn't run over to the Cowboys sideline, no, he had to taunt a couple of Rams and a row of Rams fans on the way. If the Rams wanted to win the game, they should have outscored the Cowboys. If they wanted to score, they should have played better. If they wanted to avoid being shut out and/or humiliated by the Cowboys (and/or Henderson), they should have kept the better players on the field, run high-percentage scoring plays in what is now the the red zone, and put the ball in the end zone, or kick a field goal instead of going for a touchdown. Like all the things the Rams failed to do, the Cowboys found themselves in the same boat with leaks and failed as well. I hope Cowboys fans are not using "the last score" as the reason they lost the game. At least "the last score" did not happen on their home field. Believe what you will--I AM NOT A VIKINGS FAN. This rambling, dribbling dissertation is for ANY team--sandlot, pee wee, high school, college, professional, whatever or whereever--The final score can be 2-0 or 72-0, but the only thing that really counts is the result. Football players are supposed to win, and if they find themselves on the losing end, don't make excuses, don't blame anyone but themselves...hold on to your pride, your composure, your professionalism, and a rematch ;-D All this being said (yes, all of it)...If you are a Vikings fan, be hopeful next week that it won't be you who is staring at your TV set (or the rows of TV screens at Sears, Best Buy, HHGregg, or your friend's Box, or another one (or more) at a sports bar, party, etc.), learning the adage, "What goes around, comes around," because at this point, especially after the Cowboys/Vikings game, you really do NOT want to know what it means. Hello, cowboy fans?? The Vikings showed you great respect by leaving Favre in until the end. The smart thing would have been to pull him, not risking injury before they meet the Saints next week. What other reason to leave him in past the point where the outcome was obvious, than to not humiliate you further.

Hey, Brooking, if you don't want to see them celebrating, keep them out of the end-zone. You couldn't stop them all day and now you want to whine about it. Dallas and it's fans need to get over it........it's part of the game.

I now forsee "The Chin" (Cowher) in Dallas and "Mooch" (Steve Marriuchi) in San Diego.

Amazing. He calls the Vikings classless, but not only did they do the same to Philly, Brooking was heckling & acting classless to the Falcon's when the Cowboys blew them out during the season. Apparently classlessness is OK, but only if he's the one doing it & the Cowboys are winning the game. Disappointing to see from someone who was supposedly a leader. As a Falcon fan I'd cut him some slack after what he said to the Atl. coaches in the Dallas game. But now it just shows his true colors, and shows he's just a poor sport. So sorry. At least now he can go home & has 6 months to pout.

I know you all remember the smiles and smirks that Wade and Jerry flashed as the cameras cut to them right after each cowgirl-crybabies score against the Eagles? I would love to have seen those faces after that last TD by the Vikes! So much for the dream stadium and the dream team.

They are men not little kids.  There is no 'mercy rule' in the NFL.  Play to the end and act like an adult.  You didn't see anyone on the Eagles team last week whine about the Dallas Cowboys adding to their points against them.
