I voted "No!" despite the fact that he probably will. The question that was asked should have read, "Should McNabb start for the Eagles next year?" Kevin Kolb is more accurate than Donovan McNabb, has a faster release than McNabb, and will, hopefully, casue Andy Reid and the Eagles' offensive brain trust to run the football more consistently.
Time to move on. The team is younger and its obvious the defense needs to have some gaps filled. The Eagles are obviously not contenders at this point and need to retool and grow to reach the elite level. The development also has to occur at the QB position. I think McNabb is an elite QB but if Kolb going to be the future then you have to see what he has.
Will Vick replace McNabb as starting quarterback on the Eagles? I predict a real dogfight!
while we ponder McNabb's status how about a few more; also consider these qb situations
Carolina. Chicago, Cleveland, Bengals, Seahawks, Rams, Denver
Donovan McNabb is not a winner in the NFL. He has had several chances to make it to the "Big Show" and he hasn't performed well enough to win "The Big One." He has been to the Super Bowl before and lost that chance. There are people who play in the NFL would give their right arm just to have a chance to get there once instead of McNabb's record of "ZERO" wins and "X amount of losses. Michael Vick is there but he might not be the Eagles' answer either. Philadelphia should spend the offseason getting someone who can take them "all the way!!"
Donovan is a class act. Cowboys were hot, they had a healthy team and we did not. That is simple. What is complicated is why every year we have this same dialect. I think that the Eagles have a chance next year with Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid, given this years record and experience. The defense and offensive line need to be augmented and Maclin and Jackson need some maturing time. Celek and Kolb should be given medals for carrying the team when they needed them most. There is no replacement for Dawkins and it would be hard to find someone like Baskett to match McNabb's height but it could be done in time for next season. Vick is a criminal and just does not fit in.
What the EAGLES need to do is fire Marty. Since he's been in Philly the offense is unbalanced and eratic. They sometimes look like they can't be touched, and others times look like they've never played football. Yes, its true the offensive line and linebackers need to get better, but the whole team needs to be on notice. The play calling stinks. They run two screens when it really didn't matter, and what do know it worked. The best screen team in the NFL, only ran two screens when it did not matter? DMac is the best thing that ever happened to this franchise. He took them from being an on again off again team before, to becoming one of the most consistant team in the NFL for the past decade. If they decide to move on without DMac, he will find work and be very good at it. And they will rebuild, but it will take time for another QB to come in and be as successful as Donavan.
It would be best for Donovan and the Eagles. Give Vick his chance and let Donovan try to move on with someone else and recharge.
I LOVE seeing Eagle fans whine and moan. You got your butt handed to you twice and all you can do is blame Donovan. Your defense gives up 58 points in 2 games, your special teams was horrible. Where was Westbrooke? How many drops did your "young" receivers have? McNabb did play bad but it's not just his fault. He isn't what he used to be, Kolb isn't what advertised and Vick is not a philly type of players. Your whole team sucks. I went to the game yesterday and i'm not even a Cowboy but I do hate Eagle fans because they are all cocky, loud, obnoxious and just constantly exude plain ol' douchebagery. Phuck Philly!
Donovans our man. What needs improvement is the receiving team and the offensive coaching staff. Thanx for a fun season Eagles.
Real Eagles fans know that McNabb our best QB. Donovan stays in Philly because we love McNabb.
As a 'Boys fan, I have to say that DMac is still a good, solid QB, so I hope the Eagles dump him. :) But I think he'll be back next year, as he should be, because Kolb really isn't ready to jump in and replace him yet, and Vick never will be. Eagles fans think they have the next Aaron Rodgers in Kolb, and they might be right, but neither is as good as the QB they did/would replace.
It's Donovan or Vick. Flip a coin. Both are proven winners. Either of the ones that lose the coin flip will likely end up a Raider. And that will be all that team needs to become a major contender again. Don't laugh. They beat some excellent teams this year. If they hadn't wasted their time with "Fat Albert" at QB this year instead of Jeff Garcia, they might have been in the playoffs in 2009.
In a weird twist of fate, Philly could lose both Vick and McNabb this year and opt for Kolb. They could pile up a lot of draft choices by doing this. And who knows. That may be best for all parties concerned. I love McNabb as the QB, but it is time for him to move on to a fan base that will fully embrace him. Oakland would. And it is also time for Kolb to get his full shot and Vick to return as a force somewhere else. Buffalo just may be the right fit for him.
here is a couple of things i think might happen. they could keep mcnabb and trade michael vick for a running back to replace westbrook and more draft picks in the first second and third rounds for mcnabb to build on. or they could keep kolb and trade both donovan and mike for a couple of players and multiple draft picks if they do dont be surprised if they pick up an explosive running back and/or a wide receiver. who knows they could try to trade them to carolina and take steve smith and/or deangelo williams. or they could trade to the broncos for brandon marshall and some picks

Mike Vick is there for a reason. He will replace the unsucessful McNabb at QB. Maybe McNabb will excel elsewhere in the NFL.
