Boise State played a far better final game than the game played by either Texas or Alabama. In addition, whether Boise State plays in a less visiable conference, Alabama had some pretty tick tock techs they played during the season. Until we get to see the only two unbeaten teams play each other, the better team was Boise State. If no playoff, then they are both tied for number 1.
did it hurt real bad when you bumped your head???? Boise State plays in a nobody conference! They are not even good enough to be spoken in the same sentence as the two teams that played tonight. I guess stupidity runs in Boise State fans also?
Michael Reno, You sir are a DOOFUS. Part of the BCS rankings (whichy by the way Suck!) are based on a teams strength of schedule (vs Ranked and Non ranked opponets),how your team fared against those opponets and how they fared against their opponets and so on. So, with that said, TCU beat 6 of the bowls bound teams this year. Boise St beat TCU. Boise state earned a shot at the title this year. Instaed of having TCU and BSU play each other there should have been a playoff between BSU TCU Alabama and Texas to crown a new national champion. Besides you talk about BSU playing in a nobody conference .well all of the conferences are weak when you get past the top 4 or 5 teams in each conference. Neither the SEC or the Big 12 are LOADED from top to bottom , so before you go unloading a buinch of crap on people ,why don't you sit and think before you speak. (Kinda like the way i trained my dog to be.)
you may sir need to go back to Boise State and learn to spell.... if they cannot play real football at least they can educate you on how to spell....also you cannot honestly think that Boise State plays in a conference (even if ours was weak) what does that say about theres are they playing Idaho School for the blind?
As UF proved against Cinci, there is a reason these teams do not make the BCS championship game, they would get destroyed. Texas or Bama would hammer Boise.
Florida didn't belong on the same field with Alabama. When it was all over, Tim Tebow was down on his knees crying and begging, "Puhleeeze, Mistah Bamafolks, don't hits me no mo..."
you're an @$$hole. Florida's the 2nd best team in America. Period. All props to Bama, but to hate on Tebow shows what kind of an @$$ you are. He'll go down in history as maybe the greatest player ever. So he's emotional. That emotion also got him TWO National Championships and a Heisman and more wins than anyone who's ever played in the SEC in history. Suck on that for a while hater boy. skunk. what an appropriate name.
I agree. BSU got the shaft having to play another mid-conference team, but had they matched up with OSU, TX, ALA or Florida in the bowl mix, I don't think they wouldn't be undefeated. I would have put BSU third, behind FLA. Then TX.
Boise State played a far better final game than the game played by either Texas or Alabama. In addition, whether Boise State plays in a less visable conference, Alabama had some pretty tick tock techs they played during the season. Until we get to see the only two unbeaten teams play each other, the better team was Boise State. If no playoff, then they are both tied for number 1.
Texas! They almost won today without their QB. If Colt hadn't been injured it wouldn't have been a contest. Texas would have won if not for a few mistakes by the backup QB.
That's a great point and imma letchu finish, but Colt wouldn't get a boo-boo versus any other conference; http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/16343161/ I wish another conference could at least compete with the SEC, who leads with wins and teams sent to bowl games.
ricz. . .you see here is the problem with Texas. . .if you put all your eggs in one basket (your QB) then you are not a well rounded enough team to win the national championship. Bama's QB played with 3 cracked ribs from the Florida game. . .you take him out we still win. You take Ingram out. . .guess what. . .you put in Trent Richardson and he runs the score up on you. Stop whining and go practice your shuffle pass!!!!
The HerdvsTheTide? The strongest point-man/target was isolated and surgically removed, at that point it was lost. The rest of game told you how bad. Sounds more like a coaching short-fall for NOT picturing a "WORSE CASE SCENARIO", well it happened and in rolled a Ripe-tide.
If Boise State and Alabama were to play each other in 2 to 3 weeks, then Boise would have a chance but if they played next week....no contest. Alabama would win! A weaker team always has a chance if given enough time to prepare and work on their trick plays.
Any team that can play on blue astroturf and win consistently deserves some special consideration. The Crimson Tide versus the Blue Tide! But the bigger school will usually win out. Congratulations to Alabama.
And ALA had nothing to play for. They win, they probably move from #5 to #4 overall. Whoopee! Utah went in with everything to prove. Had ALA beaten FLA last year, and were playing for it all against Utah, different story.
It's time everybody admits the BCS backers are the only phoneys! Last year Utah destroyed the Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl - and either Boise St. or TCU would have this year...
Boise State is your National Champion - Believe it or not!
And BYU, with its top 10 recruiting season, will likely be #1 over the next several years!
Boise State is returning 43 of 44 from the Fiesta Bowl 2 deep roster and 21 of 22 starters. No other team in the country comes even close to returning so many. If they win out next year (against the likes of Va Tech and Oregon State) they will be in the national championship game. If you give coach Pete a month to prepare he will beat anybody.
Best get used to the idea now, Boise State will be national champions next year.
gee - 9 or 10 wins...............better than Oregon in the PAC10..............
Give BSU and Coach Peterson their due - they are a very good football team with a very good and creative coach..........................and none of the 'gib boys' want to play them..................................what is everybody so afraid of......play the game!
I agree that you can't count Boise out of the national championship picture until they've suffered a loss. But if you ask me to objectively evaluate the two teams, I think Alabama is the stronger of the two. So if it's down to a vote, Bama gets the nod, but I'd like to see it settled on the field, and I think Alabama showed it can be beat by the type of attack that they would face with Boise. I just don't know how well Boise would do at stopping Ingram if he's healthy for the full game. I think Boise would have a good shot against Texas, because they're a better matchup.
Still, without a playoff, you're short-changing the kids by not giving an undefeated team the chance to be football's Cinderella story. I also think it was a cowardly move for the BCS to pit the two mid-majors against each other in order to avoid the continuing string of BCS embarrassments with mid-majors (3-1 in the BCS before this bowl season, now 4-2 because they had to play each other).
They are only undefeated because they play in a very weak conference! Put them in the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, or Pac 10 and they 2 or 3 losses this year. The argument is irrelevant as both polls are already decided.... That being said, in other years there have been much more controversial decisions. I say go to a playoff of the top 8 teams let that decide that should put at least 1 team from a weak conference in the playoffs.....
Everyone seems to forget that TCU was supposed to beat Boise State and they didn't stand a chance against Oregon twice...oh yeah and that game against Oklahoma. Call them trick plays or whatever you want...bottom line it got the job done and Boise State won. When you guys talk about Boise not being able to stop Ingram remember TCU had four guys with more than 500 rushing yards and they averaged 239.5 yards per game and Boise State only allowed 58 yards rushing. Offensively TCU's defense allowed 12.7 points per game and Boise State scored 17. Then the Oregon game not allowing a first down in the first quarter...oh wait that was just how bad Oregon's offense was and Boise's D had nothing to do with that. Oregon averaged 231.7 rushing yards a game. Boise state allowed only 56 rushing yards against them as well. Lets not forget about a little team from nevada who led the nation in rushing. Averaging 400 rushing yards per game and Boise state held them to just over 200 yards. So when you mention the great defenses of the 2009 season Boise State should be mentioned in that name somewhere.
No joke....Why when BSU pulled off that fake punt it was called a "trick play", when Bama failed at thier fake punt, it was called a fake punt? I think I just answered my question. A failed fake punt is a "Fake Punt", and an accomplised fake punt is a "Trick Play". Any doubt though, I feel the two unbeatened teams should play for the "BIG TROPHY"
This is a ridiculous question. Alabama is clearly the winner. Boise State had a cakewalk schedule. I think we saw at the Sugar Bowl what happens when you match a team like that against an SEC team.
You act as if the Utes don't have a history as a big football school. They used to be coached by Urban Meyer, in case you forgot. Not every non-SEC team is sub-par, just most of them.
Your logic makes no sense. Boise beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl in 2007 (and AGAIN this year) but because Chris Petersen didn't go to a bigger conference somehow that shows they don't have a "history as a big football school"? Not only are they 6-4 in Bowl games (including 2-0 in the BCS (also let me add they became a D-1 school in 1996!)), they won a National Title in 1980 in D1-AA. And don't even start the D1-A trash talk, who walked into ANN ARBOR and beat the #4 TEAM IN THE NATION?
P.S. Cincy is a Big East team, they are from a BCS conference, they are not an outside team like Utah, TCU, or BSU. Schedule means next to nothing, you play who is in front of you, if you beat them all you deserve a chance to be crowned the best. It is ridiculous to claim that one team is better than another until they meet head to head and the question is solved. Teams change frequently since college is a 4 year commitment at most, so unless a team remains unchanged, you can't give them credit for past accomplishments when the players responsible are no longer with the team.
Texas. If the starting quarterback hadn't been injured in the first quarter they would have solidly beaten Alabama. However, either Texas or Alabama would have handled Boise.
If the Texas QB hadn't been made of balsa wood he wouldn't have been broken like a toothpick. You have to wear your big boy pants to play against the SEC.
But if I had to vote, I would vote for anyone except Alabama because Nick Saban has revealed himself again to have not an ethical bone in his body. Karma's a @!$%#, Nick.
Guess you didn't see the SEC Championship game where they took a knee instead of running the score up on Florida. Know the facts if you're going to comment! It's FOOTBALL!! Play to WIN or stay HOME!
BCS title game was very boring - neither team looked that good..............................all the games ever played just show all of us that ANY team can be beaten on any given day....................we will never know a true football champion until they play it 'till the end (like the NFL, NBA, baseball - heck, even NCAA basketball!)
Boise State played a far better final game than the game played by either Texas or Alabama. In addition, whether Boise State plays in a less visiable conference, Alabama had some pretty tick tock techs they played during the season. Kyle, Cincy is a Big East team, and as such are automatic qualifiers, your argument doesn't hold water.
Boise State number 1??? Are you kidding? Pretender just like Cincy didn't have any business on the field with Florida!
I have to agree!
Florida didn't belong on the same field with Alabama. When it was all over, Tim Tebow was down on his knees crying and begging, "Puhleeeze, Mistah Bamafolks, don't hits me no mo..."

ANY team in the SEC would beat Boise State. Their strength of schedule is dismal........
A number one seed soundly defeats the number two seed. Is there a need for another cockamamied formula this year?
Texas! They almost won today without their QB. If Colt hadn't been injured it wouldn't have been a contest. Texas would have won if not for a few mistakes by the backup QB.
if a frog had wings he would not bump his butt when he jumped either
Please! No excuses, Alabama won fair and square. Texas is a great team, but Alabama was better.
That's a great point and imma letchu finish, but Colt wouldn't get a boo-boo versus any other conference; http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/16343161/ I wish another conference could at least compete with the SEC, who leads with wins and teams sent to bowl games.

There are two undefeated teams left in college football. Until they play each other, there is no consensus number 1.
If Boise State and Alabama were to play each other in 2 to 3 weeks, then Boise would have a chance but if they played next week....no contest. Alabama would win! A weaker team always has a chance if given enough time to prepare and work on their trick plays.
I saw that game already, it was called Florida vs. Cincinnati.
Any team that can play on blue astroturf and win consistently deserves some special consideration. The Crimson Tide versus the Blue Tide! But the bigger school will usually win out. Congratulations to Alabama.
I agree with the blue astroturf comment. What a nightmare. Although they still don't deserve a #1 spot.
utah kicked the crap out of alabama just one year ago in the sugar bowl!
A year is a long time in college football. Your comment is irrelevant.
And ALA had nothing to play for. They win, they probably move from #5 to #4 overall. Whoopee! Utah went in with everything to prove. Had ALA beaten FLA last year, and were playing for it all against Utah, different story.
And? Who cares about that game now?? Not Bama.

i have have to agree also stupid people should not write or talk....
Joe. . .the next time the crack pipe comes around just say "no."

no playoff.. no number one!
haha..Boise State shouldn't even be in div 1. Put them in a real conference and they would've been lucky to get 9 or 10 wins.
gee - 9 or 10 wins...............better than Oregon in the PAC10..............
Give BSU and Coach Peterson their due - they are a very good football team with a very good and creative coach..........................and none of the 'gib boys' want to play them..................................what is everybody so afraid of......play the game!
Remember the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma? Boise beat those hicks with the ancient Statue of Liberty play.
Which university do you go to? That's what I thought. Your wonderful writing skills were a dead giveaway...
Is this question a joke? Alabama would crush boise state and so would Texas . Give me a f*cking break with this stupid question
I agree that you can't count Boise out of the national championship picture until they've suffered a loss. When your whole team in dependent on Mccoy and Shipley your just asking for a loss. It's like driving all the way across country without a spare tire.
where would Bama be without Ingram?
There is NO national champion until it is settled on the field. Until then, it's just a popularity contest.
This guy is chicken to give his name lol

Guess you didn't see the SEC Championship game where they took a knee instead of running the score up on Florida. Know the facts if you're going to comment! It's FOOTBALL!! Play to WIN or stay HOME!
