NYT: The Jets lead the NFL in rushing and have the league's top-ranked defense. This can be a recipe for a championship. But no one is even breathing that possibility for the Jets.
Jets are a team that wins, but can't win respect

Typical they talk about the Jets being the invisible team and here no one comments on the article , I bet when the jets beat cincy in cincy the tide will change
The Jets are the Rodney Dangerfield's of the NFL and it ticks me off that no one sees how dangerous They can be when its one and done. I been a Jet fan since I could walk and talk and every time we do something good the sports media writes us off I am tired of it . I hope we crush cincy again. Defense and a strong running game wins championships Rex has bought the Baltimore game plan to NY and we have a chance so don't write us off .
the jets only win if sanchez doesnt turn the ball over, thats the key to the game... their defense will show nd they can run the football, sanchez just needs to control the game nd not give cincy easy turnovers... but cincy has a qb by the name of carson palmer who doesnt get enough credit, give him a chance at a game winning drive nd the jets will lose
The Jets are a good, young talented team. I think they have a rising star in Mark Sanchez. If they remain healthy and keep their core players, they'll be a threat in the east for some time to come. It would be a mistake for any team they play to look past them.
This article should have been written AFTER this weekend. Now I feel like we're going to lose...
-Superstitious Jets Fan
Now Now Evan, these are NOT the "same old Jets" so let's NOT be the "Same Old Jets Fans!"
The Jets beat two teams that had absolutely nothing to play for in their last two games. Indy already had home field locked up, and Cincy was locked into the 4th seed.
Both teams laid down.
Every other team in the AFC would kill to play the Jets this weekend. This game is already over. Cincy wins hands down.
Do you REALLY believe that the Bengals would "lay down" to a humiliating 37 - 0 whippin'???? A loss, perhaps, but a HUMILIATING LOSS of that magnitude?? Get real. The Bengals were completely dominated by the Jets' defense. Bengals get some players back this weekend, that will have an impact on the game, no doubt, but I'm a long time Jets fan who believes these Jets can beat the Bengals on Saturday and go to the next round of the playoffs.
Cincinatti Bengals-SNAKEBIT!
Yes. I do believe this. For two reasons. One, Cincy didn't need or care about the game. Two, they got to sit back and watch the Jets throw everything at them but the kitchen sink in their attempt to make the playoffs. They knew that if the Jets won, they'd be playing them in round one. They now know what the Jets will do.
This was one of three humiliating losses that playoff bound teams suffered this week in inconsequential games (all against the teams they are playing this weekend!). Arizona lost to Green Bay 33-7, and Philly lost to Dallas 24-0. Rest assured those scores will be a bit different this weekend.
Anyway, good luck to your Jets. I'm not a fan of either team, but, as a fan of the woeful Browns, I certainly like your Jets more than the Bengals.
Should the Jets win (emphasis on win) against the Bengals will it be because they can beat them or the victory over the Bengals was a fluke and the Bengals took their foot off the pedal? If the Jets do win then Mark Sanchez is the second coming of Joe Namath and the New York Sack Exchange has been reborn.
As a loyal, long-suffering Jet fan I am excited by the way Ryan and co. are building this team. They have STARTED with a defense that can win championships, and it will only get better. I don't see them going very far this year, however, because they need more than a QB that can "manage a game". They drafted Sanchez to make plays. In time, I think he will. I believe that next year or the year after, barring major injuries or defections, they will be a legitimate Super Bowl contender. These last 2 weeks were not a true barometer of how far the team has come, particularly the Indianapolis game. PS-hated the whole Favre thing from the start. It was all about him. Good luck to the Vikings, but glad he's gone.
My hubby got me to start watching football in 2000, right about when Chad Pennington was taking over for Vinny Testaverde. Those were a good couple years until Chad's arm started giving out on him. My hubby is a Bears fan, so we understand loss in our house and try to console each other during the bad times. I've been with the Jets ever since, but I have to admit that it's not always easy. But I stuck by through the whole Favre mistake and Mangini trading all my favorite players, and I'll stand by while Sanchez keeps giving away the ball. He should have stayed at USC another year and learned a little more from Pete Carroll (he's one hell of a coach).
It's not over yet and whether Cincy threw the game or not last week, they'll come back fighting this week. You never know what will happen any given Sunday...
