Guns are good! This is a non issue except for those despots wishing to curtail the rights of free citizens.
"Gun nut" - nice buzz word for the sheeple who care not for the freedoms that so many of fought and died for.
Guns have NO place in any professional sports locker room - they are inhabited by arrogant, self-important juicers who believe their stats render them above any consequences of their criminal behavior. Arenas should be fined his entire season salary and suspended until he grows a brain.
Inanimate objects are not to blame. It's the people themselves. Scumbags who can play hoops.
This pathetic whining about guns is not the issue.
Arenas now knows that he shouldn't have brought guns to "shoot-around". What can I say? He's a young fool with lots of money and obviously lacks discretion.....I think the fact the Shaq is sleeping with his fiance' have him so confused, he can't focus on the game at hand!
Well, if Stern fines him $150K and threatens to take away more of his money, maybe Arenas will wake up. After Plaxico Buress's dumb mistake, you would think that guns would be left with your bodyguards or better yet, find other interesting people to hang out with! If I have to take guns with me to work, I must work in a prison, security, public safety or an armor car collection company......If I play in the NBA, I am going to be one of only a few who gets paid to paly a game that I love....it couldn't get much better than that, unless your fiance' stops sleeping with Shaq!
Guns have no place in a locker room? Do these professional sports teams provide a place to secure a LEGAL firearm as they enter the arena and give them back as the athlete leaves and enters the parking area? Anybody believe in self defense? The Second Amendment? Oh right, I forget, call 911. Get on your knees and plead for your life to some dirt bag.
Well, that's NBC for ya. Evil, bad guns. Black guns. "non-sporting" guns.
Just a bunch of liberal whiners with an agenda beyond the subject at hand.
David Stern and his "leadership team" have shown lack of courage in standing up to NBA players who are totally out of control. This is but another incident in a string of them, although this one really gets our attention. I left the NBA years ago as the game was headed to becoming ego driven street ball, which is all it is now. It is sad, and all you sucker fans keep on creaming for these jerks.
Why the insults? that is the problem with those that see nothing wrong with having the guns in the locker room. It becomes a 2nd amendment issue--give me a break. Wonder how you would feel if these 2 had gotten into a shootout over money in a hallway and then shot a fan?
This is not about gun rights, this is about stupid behavior. Legally if you point a gun at me I have the right to shoot you......Arenas needs to be severely disciplined for his foolish and dangerous behavior.
Out of the NBA.....forever. Isn't it time to start cleaning up basketball with all it's thugs and crooked ref's?? David Stern can't even spell "leadership".
I agree with JimK. This is about idiotic behavior. Whether or not Arenas has a right to carry a gun is beside the point. To take it out in the locker room and point it at a teammate is stupid and dangerous. As the saying goes, "It's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt." Or killed. How many times has the excuse been, "I didn't think it was loaded?" Just as I am not allowed to carry a weapon into my workplace, neither is Arenas. I would likely lose my job for doing so.
You people who say it's o:k under the second amendment or a gun is an in-animate object..and people kill people not guns have the NRA and an intimidated Congress on your side. For every person who loses a son or daughter to a gun "accident" or a cop who gets killed, I say right on! If we are going to be a gun society, then live with the consequences. These athletes who feel they must have a gun for protection....whew, how can you comment on that other to say that they are protecting themselves from others who have guns. The gun problem feeds on itself and the killing goes on and on and on. Here is a factual statistic for you..MORE people are killed in the United States each year than all of the wars now going on all over the world. So let's keep it the way it is. I don't own a gun but it's nice to know I can always get one when I finally decide that the time has come for me to check out and take a person whom I hate with me. And that's a fact jack!
what a waste of talent. So much money and willing to loose it over night. these people are just plain dumb.
Really sad to think owner ABE POLIAN just passed away and his employees behave like this??? kick him out for a year!!! This team used to be the washington bullets....these kids are turds....and there should be no gambling in team areas....
These you men make huge amount of money and then act like "boys". Suspend them for life from the NBA
This is not an NRA issue! This is about personal responsibility. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Fine him, suspend him, charge him with a felony so idiots like him aren't allowed to own a gun legally, not like irresponsible people like him would follow the law anyway. He already broke the NBA mandates about guns. The authorities need to come down and come down hard or lose respect as authorities.
I don't know who owns the facility or the terms of the lease, but generally there's no second amendment issue involved, at least as far as the league is concerned. The league is quite free to ban weapons, just as a business is generally free to control speech on its premises (banning sexual banter, for instance) or a newspaper may choose which readers' letters to print.
