I really wonder if it's his health or because Tebow will be gone? This guy looks really healthy to me. Or is it one of the family members that is really ill. I guess we'll find out soon on who really is ill.
You can look very healthy and still have severe heart disease. Who really know if that is the real reason and who really cares?
I recently read an article saying Meyers has a small brain tumor that can be affected by stress. We know that coaching offer plenty of stress. I think he will be offered another position which is less stressful.
I hope he gets well soon and comes back. He is a GREAT coach and a great man. We will miss him.
No idea, I hope so but more importantly I hope he gets well soon
His precious chosen one is gone, so he is too! Just the thought of having to coach a mediocre team is more than he can bear! Good Riddance!
Good thing then that he never took the ND job if he's been having problems with his heart. That job is stressful enough for healthy coaches.
Shouldn't be ANY negative comments on here about him! That man is ONE HELL OF A COACH!I personally am a bama fan,(ROLL TIDE),but Urban Meyer will VERY MUCH be missed.I read a Sports Ill. about Urban Meyer before the Bama game and in it they say that Urban Meyer has a small Cyst on his brain, that when flared up causes severe pain in his head. But all throughout his career he has fought through it for something that he loves, football AND did a DAMN GOOD JOB at it too mind you.So how 'bout a little respect for a GREAT coach,Whether he's your teams coach or not,he's EARNED it.how many GREAT COACHES are out there? Not many.Well,HE is one.
Just learned about the heart deal,(hate that for him),but knew about the Cyst.Sports Ill. gave the name of the Cyst but i can't remember what it is.
The cyst in his brain is called an Arachnoid Cyst, I have one, and it is located in the small space at the base of the brain just at the top of the neck in the back...mostly benign....size can cause migraines etc....Coach Meyer will be back... I pray that whatever he needs, and his family needs, will be provided for him and that he heals well and quickly...I worked for the Univeristy of FL for many years and love the Gators....Congrats to the coaches and team for a great win tonight...may God Bless
Don't know it it's the heart or the loss to the Tide, but I just don't think he'll be back without a garbage bag full of hundreds, per game. He has nothing to prove and next year he's basically got to rebuild at a few positions. That puts a ton of stress on him and if he truely has a heart condition, coaching at a high-profile, for now, college is not good. Two or three years down the line? Who knows. But it won't be Florida or Utah. Bad taste in both school's mouths.
I do not understand seeing negative comments about Urban Meyer. By all accounts, he is not only a great coach, but also a great person. He is a great coach, mentor, and friend to the kids that play for him and he tries to look out for them. I look at things like Tim Tebow not turning pro early, and instead finishing school, as an example of what he means to his players and the team as a whole. The same thing has been said about Coach Meyer by current and former players, other coaches, school administrators, and practically everyone who has met him. Yes, he cares about winning, but has never been abusive to his players or coaching staff when things did not go well; although granted those times were few and far between for the most part.
I hope that Coach Meyer takes care of his health issues and returns to coaching. He is a great coach and a great mentor to the kids that play for him. In this day and age there are not too many people associated with big name college or professional sports that you can say that about. We need more coaches like Urban Meyer in college sports at all levels.
