NBCSports.com contributor Johnette Howard calls the Colts the model NFL franchise. Do you agree?
Boy, I don't see any way of convincing me it isn't the Steelers. All they do is keep winning championships. And winning decade after decade.
The Colts are consistent. You won't seeing them having a 5 game losing streak.
No, you won't see the Colts drop 5 in a row, but they SUCKED for years. And don't worry b/c the Colts will have a one-game losing streak that'll occur around the time of the divisional playoff round.
Yep, decade after decade......(if you don't include the 80's or the 90's).
Steelers appeared in Super Bowls in the 80's and the 90's, also appeared in AFL championships, and plenty of playoff games during the 80's and 90's....although from time to time they have taken off a season or two, when they should be winning, As for the Colts how can you call them a model franchise when they slipped out of Baltimore in the middle of the night and held Indy for ransom forcing them to build them 2 new stadiums in 30 years, New England is a better franchise than the Colts, ever since Kraft took over....but the Steelers are the most stable and consistent since 1970......oh and they have 6 Super Bowl victories!!!!
We're talking currently.
And while championships are impressive, the 49ers were the best team of the 90s...but won only 1.
The Colts are likely the best team of this decade...but have won only 1.
But who is the #1 franchise NOW. It's not the Steelers. Who have shown they will only fall apart after winning a SB. It's no longer the Pats, who have been figured out by it seems everyone in the AFC East.
The Colts are handsdown the best and most consistent.
When's the last time a team carried unbeaten records past 10-0 multiple times just within seasons of each other...Never.
Every record you can think of this team is breaking.

We're talking here and now.
New England is no longer #1. The 18-0 season failure in the Superbowl culminated really the end of their dynasty.
I'll reserve judgement on the Steelers till next season. But after both SB wins, the following season has been TERRIBLE for the Steelers. That didn't happen to Indy or the Patriots despite losing key players after their Superbowl victories.
During this decade...has New England ever lost 4 straight games? No. Colts haven't either. But the Steelers definitely have.
The first stadium was already built before we had a team. It was a huge gamble and it paid off in spades. As far as the second stadium goes the majority of us wanted it. It's part of the 2012 Superbowl package and we will be hosting numerous Final Four's in the next 2 decades.
P.S. It was the Baltimore that sneaked out of town, the Indianapolis Colts are still here. LOL
Since the Colts came to Indy in 84 super bowl rings for colts 1 steelers 2. Now dont think that is much of a dominant performance. Records in regular season speak for themselves. Even this year you see the team and it seems they have quit. Loose Troy and the D falls apart. Colts have 4 starters gone from team and still winning. That shows a properly run team. Find bench players who can step up and play.
Id have to say the Vikings. The last 5 years they have really built up quite the organization. If we are talking all time then the Steelers, maybe the Giants. There are several that I can think of that have a great foundation. As of right now, this moment in time I would have to say the Vikings though.
Steelers all the way. The Rooney's are the class act owners for a class act organization. It trickles down to the fans too! 6 Time SuperBowl Champions! Doesn't get any more evident than that!
I'm a Dolphin fan, but I've got to lean towards the Steelers. Always put a solid team on the field, have rabid fans that they seem to "care" about and keep making the playoffs year after year.
Now, if the Raiders could just get rid of the Crypt Keeper owner, they might have a shot at this too.
Colts QB doesn't need the play book taped to his arm (ala brady) during the game, he's smart enough to remember the plays and call them too!
It's definitely the Cowboys!!! You may not like Jerry...he's sort of like Donald Trump...either you like him or hate him....but, you have to give him credit for the new stadium & I bet his franchise has the highest value, even without having a playoff win for the last 100 years!!!!!!
For right now it has to be the Patriots as the class organization.
Are you kidding? LoL Class? Have another beer dude so you can keep convincing yourself of that! The Patriots have class LMAO Now I have heard it all. They cheat and their QB wears a skirt and needs to go back to Pop Warner Football and play with the little boys.
What did you say the QB who wears the skirt record is? I can't hear you!!
You're right the Colts are class times two. But unfortunately they still have fans
with low IQ"S. You know, Fans like you.....
There's only one model franchise. The rest are ere pittiance.
The comminity owned/ GREEN BAY PACKERS !!!!!
DAVEBOB
What a sham this pole is, no mention of the Green Bay Packers. The one franchise that will always be rooted where it began, not on the whim of some eccentricowner who can buy, sell, move, or trade on a moments notice. Not only that but to have also been competitive through most of their history. Still more championships than any other NFL team bar none.
Steelers all the way. How many Superbowls? The Rooney's are a class act which is a reflection of the whole orginization.
Oh poor loudmouth that Raider win still stings and how about those browns get over yourself and your team sinking like scrap metal.
Want to come over and help us shine our six lombardi trophies, 2 of which are less than 4 years old.........you can have crazy Al Davis we'll keep the Lombardis
The press keeps igoring the Saints right up until they are playing in Miami.
Saints haven't done a single thing yet, who cares about some regular season wins????? Wake me up when they win something for real.
The press keeps igoring the Saints right up until they are playing in Miami.
?
The press is all over the Saints. Indy is more ignored than any top team in the league.
The article isn't about the best playing it's about the best franchise. Even the most ardent Saints fans cannot deny that Benson is a self-centered egomaniac who without taxpayer bailouts would have run away a long time ago (withness last years "sweet" deal with the building rental to the state at a cost far in excess of current commercial realestate rental cost). One can only assume our recent success is because Sean Payton has finally succeeded in persuading Benson to part with some of his dollars.
Tim, what would you like the Saints to do? They handed the Eagles, the Jets, the Giants their first losses of the season when they played them. They've continued to win albeit struggling despite injuries to many of their key starters. Their strength of schedule of opponents is still in the top 10. What team do you support? Surely not the Vikings who have the 31st strongest schedule.... Unless you're a Colts fan, you really don't have much of a leg to stand on if you're going to argue against their success on the field.
Horrible poll results-Colts have 1 superbowl against a horrible Bears team (and for the record the pats blew a lead in the afc championship that could've been the pats 4th title).
The Colts are and will never be anything more than regular season warriors. We will see it again this year in the playoffs when they flop against either NE or SD

Weren't the Bears 13-3 that year?
Poll is results of over 10,000 people who simply disagree with you.

Since they've won a SB...no. And they did it in style coming back with a crushing defeat of NE.
If they were the Vikings or Bills or Broncos going to 4 SB in short order and failing at all of them. Then yes, they would only be regular season heroes.
And even then Elway got his justice at the end of his career. Manning is only 33, and will get shots until he is 40. Just as Farve is showing right now.
I doubt they lose to NE. NE has been getting owned. If we even have to play them. Right now it would be a matchup between NE and Broncos. Both teams we have beat in Indy this season.
If NE even gets there...Miami, Jets are both nipping at their heals. And Miami has the tiebreak.
Consistency, class and a game-to-game mentality. Have you seen Peyton on the sidelines in between posessions? Doing his homework and analysis. Don't see many other quarterbacks working in between.
This is the year for New Orleans SAINTS. They are truly number 1. Any team that can come from behind, use all of their players and win is a TEAM. Go Saints Go. Been a fan since 82.
Colts Suck.
& just where do you live?... Detroit or TampaBay!
you must have really pushed that last brain cell to the limit on that one... you might look into a job opening at the NFL network... you can sit next to Deon Sanders... another Colt hater who cant accept reality!
The Raiders are the best run football franchise. Al Davis has forgotten more about football than all the rest of them. JaMarcus is going to be a big star. Just you doubters wait and see.
Best laugh of the day. It's only been thirty years since they were worth a damn. I bet in thirty more they might be again.
I do think the colts are a good team, but you can win as many REGULAR SEASON games as you want. That does not mean they should be in the running for best franchise. Super Bowl wins is what counts and I'm pretty sure they only have 1 in this century.
The article was not about wins people....it was about how well the team is run not about stats. The organization is well run and has players that don't kill helpless dogs or drink and kill someone or take a gun in a club and shoot themself...that's what the article meant, not about wins, all about class.
It says FRANCHISE not one year wonders. The saints are good but not too long ago they were the ain'ts.

Tough to compare to the Colts, but the Steelers seem to be a model run franchise to me. They're in the hunt in an always tough division.
