Technically, absolutely right. And we don't know what to call this one. But when you think of the '80's, does anyone think 1990 was included? No. It has "'90" in it, so we put it with the '90's. It's more convenient to remember history this way, even if it's technically incorrect.

Counting is counting. 1-10 decade, 1-100 Century, 1-2000 two millenia. Your point is taken, but decades still end on the 10's, not the 9's.

A decade can refer to any 10 year period. 1980-1989 = a decade. 1995-2004 = a decade. 2010 is the final year of the 200th decade of the Gregorian calender, this is true, but saying it's part of the "2000's" or the "Naughts" or whatever the hell they're calling it is NOT technically correct.

Love him or hate him, Dale Earnhardt was one of the most polarizing sporting figures of his time. Losing him in a crash was not only sad but it shocked you right to the core. We all assumed that the cars were so safe that a driver most likely would survive most any crash. I cried that day. I loved to hate him. Always will. But he was a hellofa driver!
