The offensive line and defensive secondary are pathetic. Time for changes. Townsend and Taylor need to go. Polamalu is great, but he's always hurt so what good is he. One player doesn't make a defense. Same with Parker. Trade him and move on. Special teams needs complete overhaul. Send Ligashesky packing too! We need more players like Holmes and Miller!!! Guys that just play their hearts out..
#1 - Fri Dec 11, 2009 7:46 AM ESTReason why Polamalu is hurt is because he is doing to much. As a result he is in the wrong position when there is a tackle. You are right the DB's need to be changed so that Polamalu can go back being the safety that the team needs.
bruce ariens must go, terrible play calling all season, roth needs benched until he learns to get rid of it, you cant always turn nothing into something. i love polo but he may be done, knees never get better in nfl. parker had his day. secondary sucks. tomlin were is the hell you were to unleash. central catholic high school would have put on a better effort against the browns

But to not have the team prepared and focused for easy wins against everyone else the Steelers have lost to is a disgrace. Tomlin quit on his team. He hasn't learned, yet, what representing the good people of the region through the Steelers means. I couldn't sleep last night. I'd give him next year to turn things around; otherwise, he should be gone.

I've never met an offensively obnoxious Steeler fan, just passionately motivated, educated, and tuned in.
Steeler football retains one of about 3 or maybe 4 'true' fan bases outside of the champaign-prestige laiden crowds...like in Dallas and San Fran, who get to the game during the 1st quarter, and leave mid 4th for a dinner party.
Most Steeler fans actually know the difference between offsides and encroachment. That's why its so painful seeing the team struggle.
6 and 2, now 6 and 7 vs. incapable teams. Tomlin's lost this team........Arians and several others need to be shown the door. Other good defensive coaches, like last night and Cincy's Zimmer have our number.
Ownership needs to step up and bring in Shanahan an offensive genius. Then we have the Mike and Mike show of our own, offense and defense. Give them any titles you want.

Coach Tomlin needs to be able to recruit new coordinators, starting with an offensive coordinator and as much as I'll get blasted by some of my fellow Steeler's Nation, Lebeau too. Our defense is weak and heartless and our offensive play calling is pathetic! Third and 4 and all of our receivers are 10-15 yards down the field. No wonder the Chin wouldn't let Big Ben run the offense, he's a great QB but needs to learn to get rid of the ball sometimes. I still wouldn't want anyone else under center for our offense but he needs some guidance from a good offensive play caller.
I don't understand:
1st) when they have 3rd & 1 or 3rd & 2, what the hell were they thinking passing 15-20 yards...especially when it's -10 degrees & wind gusts up to 43 mph!!! Hand the ball to a running back & pick up the damn 1st down!
2nd) Defense: Cleveland has 3rd & 13 and the pass defenders are backed up 15 yards! Give them 5 yards, hit them as they come off the line to slow them down & cover the pass to prevent the reception! But literally giving them the 13 yards for 1st down is...um...well, below 'Pop Warner' skills!
3rd) O-line...enough said!
It is both devastating and heartbreaking to see our boys in black and gold perform so inadequately. We are better than that. We are the Pittsbirgh Steelers and we will rise from this miserable situation. We have to weed out the ones that don;t want it anymore, the ones that no longer belong in the Brotherhood of Champions. We must pull together and be a team, a family again and show the world what Steeler football really is. This ain't it.

I realize they're trying to cause fumbles and make something happen but you have to have a LOCK on the basics before you can move on to the finer points of defense. Right now, their defensive basics SUCK!!!

The offense produces and the defense takes a holiday. The defense shores up and shuts a team down, and the offense looks like the Browns. One thing does seem to be a constant, special teams blow.
The defense is getting long in the tooth. time for a bit of an overhaul. Arians is a joke. Peyton Manning's greatness created the misconception that this guy can coach. He did wonders in Cleveland with Tim Couch, didn't he? His pass-first and often mentality has got to go. The last time we tried this was with Tommy Maddox...um...that went well. Ben needs to get out of the always collapsing pocket to be effective, and this will always be the case until we get some players that can play the position and some coaches that can coach it. Until then, keeping him in the pocket will continue to result in 8 sacks.

I can point to countless fouls w/ no-calls by the refs or the TERRIBLE play calling by Arians or the secondary looking like someone is taking bribes to miss coverage...but ultimately it comes down to the O-line just looking awful! No other team in recent history has made the Brown's look so good (not an easy task either). I don't know if it's a lack of respect for one-another, complacency or their getting old, but a team without a strong O-line is just going to suck...regardless of all other compensating factors.
