this is bull weis deserves on emore yr next yrs schedule will be pretty easy as well. i think they r wrong and it will be this again in 5 yrs. i forget which yr it is but we play oklahoma. so it depends on the schedule. i agree we should have won more but hey every team hs a few bad yrs. penn state never fired joepa and his team hasnt been always good th epast 3o some yrs.

I hate Notre Dame and hate how everyone cares. Including ME! I cannot get over the fact that they are spending 18 million dollars to fire Charlie Weis. It is a slap in the face to the entire nation.

Charlie Weis is a class act and it is unfortunate that his win-loss record is under the ever increasing scrutiny of the public eye, but Note Dame is Notre Dame. The vast Catholic following expects perfection on the field and Charlie hasn't been able to deliver. Charlie is a proven offensive power, get somebody in there with Charlie who can put together a defense.

Please take Mangini from the Browns. We'll even throw in Brian Daboll as Offensive Coordinator!

I honestly feel Weis deserves another year, it seems that after five years ND is always looking for a new coach. All teams need to build and that is what ND needs to do they need to look harder at High School Talent there are many high school players that deserve a chance and look to the future not the now. Winning is important but losing makes a stronger and better person.

It won't matter who they hire. This is not your Grandpa's Notre Dame.

Why not just leave the position vacant and give the money they would spend on anew coach to the university. In the long run it would be a better investment.

I know the perfect person to coach Notre Dame -- Bill Cowher. He is hard nosed, maintains complete control, and he is a player's coach. Go get him ND.

Either Coach Greg Schiano or Temple's Coach Al Golden. They both have Meyer/Stoops characteristics and know how to get their team ready to play very tough, winning football. Kids like smart young coaches that can manage the whole process from competing in the classroom and the football field, Schiano and Golden are the most talented and can give you a foundation that will last.

How can a head coach only concentrate on one side of the ball; offense and not pay some big name D Coordinator to build a defense? You can score 35+ points a game and still lose every game! If Charlie, who will be in the NFL next year and since he is an alumni, had any decency he should only take $2 million and donate the rest to the scholarship program.

Get someone who knows the college game, both sides of the ball, can recruit and takes the job of being head coach at ND seriously. My vote is Brian Kelly!

It all goes back to pay for performance and not pay for the reputation upfront! Who in their right mind would give an extension of 10 years midway thru the first season only to see them never achieve any higher than that!
