I am 80 years old and a diehard baseball fan[of the yankees] i heard of scully whe i was a kid but now that you mention he is/was with the dodgers i can understand why i do not recognize the name. When they left baseball to go to the west coast hardly anyone even knows that the dodgers played baseball a long time ago. I even remember the Dodger tavern in brooklyn when i was stationed in new york in the navy in 1950. Does Scully actually watch games now.
Huh?
Scully is by far the best. I age myself as he did broadcast Brooklyn games. Too bad O'Malley stole the soul of Brooklyn. He rots in hell, but Scully will always be right there with Red Barber as the 2 best of all time. To my knowlege he still doesn't jinx no hitters like the rest of the idiots
I too remember a Scully broadcast back in the 1963 world series. The first game match up was Sandy Koufax vs Whitey Ford. And I'll never forget when he summed it up perfectly just before the first pitch as:
"The pitcher that can't be beat versus the pitcher that won't be beat." and I thought, he nailed the whole match up in one sentence. BTW, Dogers won in 4.
