wow, this article reads like it was written by a true pats fan it seems. It's funny, he's the ONLY writer to have written ANYTHING like this... maybe some bias is sinking in?
He's making it seem like trash talk didn't exist before the Jets this season. Or a coach has never said something with vigor before. Heck, Rex even said the patriots had a better coach and a better quarterback but we'd find out who had the better team come sunday. That's not trash talk, that's common sense.
God forbid a coach has confidence in his team and expresses it... oh the horror!
Some people just don't have a clue, this writer is one of them.
Rex Ryan is a breath of fresh air in the NFL right now.
Too long have fans had to suffer through coaches who are far too concerned with being secretive and mysterious, for fear of giving an opposing team an irrelevantly-small morsel of information, or far too concerned with not providing the other team with any bulletin board material, that they would never actually give the fans an opinion of how they really feel about their team, just the same cliched responses over and over. It's been a long time since fans have had a coach without a filter to get behind, someone who will tell you what he truly thinks, weather that's a good thing or a bad thing.
This article is about as unprofessional a "piece of journalism" that I have ever seen.....all he does is repeatedly insult Jets fans with fictious claims, and try and draw false conclusions about Rex Ryan by comparing him to his father. Rex Ryan is not Buddy Ryan, and never will be. Rex has never shown Buddy's temper at any point in his coaching career, and you cannot find a player or coach, past or present with a single bad thing to say about Rex Ryan. Rex has a certain ability to connect with people that Buddy simply never possessed.
Stop trying to rain on the parade because Rex doesn't follow the status quo of telling you nothing. If anything, hopefully Rex can be successful, and a generation of Rex Ryan's is born, it would certaintly make the NFL more entertaining then it presently is, that's for sure.
He's won two games and zero superbowls. At least let the season get half way before you annoint the next savior. If I recall, the jets won their first two last year also.
What's so wrong about the coach of a team that has been a doormat for so many years trying to fire up his team and generate some excitement. The writer of this article is an idiot. The one thing that would make everyone hate the Jets is if Ryan turned out like Belicheck, who is a sourpuss, cheating, sore loser.
Get a life, Michael Ventre. Just a column of sheer nastiness...and he gets paid to write it. I'm a Jets fan (a lot older than the demographic indicated), I wash my team memorabilia (no Namath Jersey, though). It's obvious in two weeks that Ryan is a far better coach than the last two nonentities the Jets had on the sidelines. Nothing he's said has been truly objectionable, just colorful (BTW, peace up, they lost the 2nd game to the Brady-less Patriots, so Ryan's already made a difference.)
Agreed on Jets coaching. But, my respect goes out to coaches who can win in a dignified manner. Tom Landry, Bill Belichik, Bill Walsh, Tony Dungee.
* Sunday's win. They beat a half injured offense without it's full compliment of talent. Big asterisk, Big asterisk. Plus it was obvious that the ref's were going to give that one to the Jets as a consolation prize.
The article got it entirely wrong - I (still) love to hate the Patriots because they cheated, not because they were "sullenly inscruitable" or "got my goat". If Rex Ryan plays by the rules to win games then he can shoot his mouth off all he wants, and I bear him no ill will. I smell a Patriots fan behind this article, and apparently them getting beat by the Jets sticks in his craw. This is a non-story.
Rex Ryan is about football. His team is winning and beating teams that felt entitled to win. So there is a new gunslinger in town. And that's the way it is and has always been. I remember Dandy Don Meredith and Howard Cosell having a good laugh and bad mouthing Some young punk named Terry Bradshaw during his first pre-season game. They said that his style of play was too physical and risky for the NFL and that he would be crushed by the pro defenses. Yup, that didn't happen. So, GO REX! Want to shut him up - beat him.
OMG! It's only Week 2 and from all the talk, you would think these guys are the 2nd coming. Maybe. Maybe not. Rex's team is doing well, but the Jets had one of the best records in the league at Week 10 last year also. There are other teams that have seeming turned their fortunes around this year or improved like Atlanta, San Fran, etc. Maybe if the Jets are doing this well after Week 10, then maybe talk of Rex as the bully might be more appropriate. Lest we forget, everyone is also talking like the Pats are washed up. A few issues, yes. Washed up, no. Bill B'Cheat will have his team improving as the season goes along with or without the extra video. The next Jets-Pats game might look a bit different than this past game.
I hate trash talk by anyone esp. the leader of a team. Remember he is the one who sells the image to the rest of us and i think its best to just do your job. I think he should lose at least 50 lbs. He looks disgusting. I guess he runs his mouth off like he does when he eats, Full of whatever he can get. Words to him are like Big Macs. He couldn't even fit a Superbowl ring on his finger. They'd have to SuperSize it. He belongs on "the biggest loser" asap.
Full disclosure: I am a Jet fan. That said, while your article was amusing (and your description of the "typical" Jet fan frighteningly accurate), I feel you are looking at things way out of context. You have to appreciate the history of the Patriot's annual trip into the swamp to smack us down before you can understand how Rex's techniques are not only acceptable, they are necessary if this franchise is ever going to become what we want it to be.
Let's face it, there has been a long procession of coaches come and go since 1969, and we have only caught a sniff or two of success. We've seen too many people come in here, say the right things, do things the way they "should" be done, and ultimately come up with the same unsatisfying results.
I welcome Rex and his bravado. Sure he will get ripped apart by the media when things start to go wrong (as they always do to any coach who sticks around long enough), but you media jackles would lay into Jesus Christ if he led a team to a 4 and 12 record. I applaud him for having the guts to do things his own way, and saying "to hell with the consequences". In the mean time, I am going to enjoy whatever success he brings as long as he can bring it. Bravo Rex! Keep fighting the fight YOUR way!
You idiots that keep repeating that the same old "pats cheat" are all morons. Haven't you listened to all the top coaches who have said that this happened when they coached. They did it as well, that is why the memo went out to all coaches. You must suffer from ADHD or something. Bob Knight says he has no qualms about Spygate, which he suspects is "nothing that every coach in the history of the NFL hasn't done in one way or another."
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. last year the talk was about possibilities, how effective could Farve really be. This year, Nothing but a rough tough winning team with a personality to Match. The T REX DEFENCE shows no MERCY !!!!!!!!!! Bout time the Jet fans can finally root for the future and not the Possibilities.
Chip off the old block. Perfect for New York fans and media.
he is a breath of fresh air with a genuine positive attitude. so unlike mangini.

Chris... you forgot to add that Bill Belichick is a sourpuss, sore loser, and a winner. See, you forgot 'winner'.
Love the Jets, and I hope they remain good.
Trash talking belongs to players, not coaches. That's just immature... oh wait, he's a Ryan, sorry my bad.

Keep winning Rex...shut up, but keep winning.

Aside from being a Bears fan, I always root for the Jets but this guy is a blow hard without the horn.
and Lovie is any better? Mr. no reaction on sidelines.
