As a die-hard Browns fan, I must admit that this could not be any more true. That steaming pile of feces that the Lerner family has been putting out on the field is ruining everything I love about football. And the thing I loved the most was the rivalry with the Steelers.
Seriously, the Browns are so bad, I can't even engage in friendly smack banter with a P-burgh fan. It's demoralizing to know that they look at the Browns and don't think rivals, they think about two guaranteed wins.
Steelers-Jags has been heating up nicely for past few years. Those games can get ugly. But NOTHING like the carnage of Ravens-Steelers. Spanking the Ravens bare ass 3 times last year on our way to 6 didn't help.
Chiefs-Raiders hate each other with a passion. This game hasn't been much in years but, they show up to beat the crap out of each other. This has been going on since the 60's.
By far the best rivalry is...Dallas Cowboys vs. Every Fan Not A Cowboy Fan !! Non Cowboy fans spew out the trash talk like no other fan. They celebrate more over a 'Boys loss, Whine more over a 'Boys win, & have more excuses than kanye west when their team loses to The 'Boys !!
GedePrime-I'm a Steelers fan transplant in Cleveland. I haven't been able to talk a word of smack on the Steelers/Browns rivalry since that last playoff game in 02 or whenever that was. I see absolutely no reason to rub things in since its been so lop sided. I would just feel like a total d!ck. Part of me wants to see the Browns get one this year so the trash talk can begin again.
As a non-delusional Browns fan, I appreciate your restraint from rubbing it in. It's kind of hard to respond when your smack-opponent can squash any banter with "when was the last time the Browns beat the Steelers?"
However, in true fanatic wonder, there will always be the myopic Browns zealot out there that will swear that the Browns are only one player away from making it to the Super Bowl. Unless that player is Jesus Christ himself, I think it will be many more a season before the Browns can give your Steelers a true rivalry again.
Sad you guys don't have any stats to back up your claims that your own rivalries are the best. I mean the Redskins Cowboys is THE rivalry hands down. Why you ask, because these are the 2 premier teams in the NFL. They have the largest revenues, fan bases, and active stadiums in the NFL. They hate eachother. They BOTH win Super Bowls (7 between them, how many do the Browns have...?). Almost every year at least one of them are in the playoffs since the AFL/NFL merger. Its ridiculous to claim the Browns, Vikings, Chiefs, or Colts in any rivalry when there worth nothing compared to the Cowboys and Redskins. And why is a team worth so much? Because of a huge fan base and revenues due to ticket sales and merchandise. The Redskins have a 150,000 man waiting list for season tickets, and thats to a 92,000 man stadium. The Cowbays have their brand new stadium and the iconic Jerry Jones running them with a nationwide fan base. I agree the entire NFC East hate eachother, but this is THE rivalry and the stats prove it.
How can ANYONE call themselves an fan of the NFL when they cannot seem to understand that the Super Bowl is the NFL Championship!! That has been true since the AFL and NFL merged. The Browns have won several NFL championships. It is true that is it has been 46 years and that is a continuing sore spot for Browns fans but please do not disrespect the older players who won championships. If I were to ask a Packers fan how many championships have they won, are they only going to count the Super Bowl? Of course not, so get your facts straight! BTW, I voted for the Steelers-Ravens.
The Jet's steal the Patriots coach, who then steals their running back. When that coach retires (albeit temporarily) the Patriots then steal his chosen successor on his way to the podium to annouce his hiring. Tapegate (or Videogate, or whatever it was called)? It was the Jet's Eric Mangini (who they had hired away from the Patriots) who blew the whistle on Bilicheck. These games are always tight, hard fought battles. The teams hate each other. What makes this rivalry over the top is the soap opera that takes place off the field as well.
One of the scariest moments I've ever had was after a Ravens loss to the Steelers in Baltimore. I entered the mens room after the game and even though I had a Ravens Jersey on I was still fearful. There is NO DOUBT RAVENS STEELERS is THE RIVALRY in the NFL!!!
The results speak for themselves, Packer / Bears, as evidenced by this past weekends match, the hitting was ferocious, competitive match right down to the final minute. The next closest rivalry is 7% behind, not even close. Go Pack Go
I agree with you dcfan-1212450. Best rivalry period. I bleed burgandy and have since '68. I am and always shall be a ture Skins fan. I miss Riggins and the Hogs. Hail to the Redskins.
The Bears-Packers rivalry is timeless. It's survived expansion, realignment and relocation/identity change that has made some old, and very good, rivalries a thing of the past. Some of the newer rivalries are gaining momentum, but how can you argue against one that has been around long before most of us were even born?
In Chicago, the Bears are a big business for greedy owners. Packer football in Green Bay is a religion to the residents of the city and Lambeau field is a church. Never will a greedy owner say "if I don't get what I want I will move the team". As such it is the only pure football city in the NFL.
Reading above I agree...Steelers-Browns game were great late 70s early 80s....especially being an Oilers fan....we usually needed one of them out of the way with 2 losses back then in the old AFC central !!
Bears-packers by far ! Not only the longest rivalry, but has two of the storied coaches in lombardi and Halas not to mention both have had allot of Hall of Fame players over the years[too long to list]. Bears-Packer fans LIVE football, "The Black and Blue division" is an understatement. Those that have followed the NFL know the long ,battled, glorious history that these two teams have endured. DA BEARS !!!!! , BEAR DOWN.....
Ummm....Browns/Steelers? There's more blood in the stands then on the field. This is the equivalent of Ohio State/Michigan to those two fan bases.
This WAS “the rivalry” but sadly, due to the Browns lack of competitiveness, is in the past (at least for Steelers fans.)
As a die-hard Browns fan, I must admit that this could not be any more true. That steaming pile of feces that the Lerner family has been putting out on the field is ruining everything I love about football. And the thing I loved the most was the rivalry with the Steelers.

Yeah Ravens/Steelers games have been bloodbaths. I love it! I also think that Tennessee/Steelers is a heating rivalry.
Chiefs-Raiders hate each other with a passion. This game hasn't been much in years but, they show up to beat the crap out of each other. This has been going on since the 60's.

With Favre under center, it's gotten more intense. What a thrill!!!!!!!

Packers-Bears, easily!
The results speak for themselves, Packer / Bears, as evidenced by this past weekends match, the hitting was ferocious, competitive match right down to the final minute. The next closest rivalry is 7% behind, not even close. Go Pack Go
Brian-595389, You are so right ! The ice tubs were flowing this past monday in Chicago and Green Bay. DA BEARS !

Packers-Bears of course!

The Skins and the Cowgirls!!!!!!!!
Yeah I agree Boys and the Foreskins!!!!!!!
I married a Packer fan...only lasted 2 years! GO BEARS!!!
Giants vs. Eagles. Long history plus closely matched, excellent teams in recent years.
