I had the utmost respect for Brett as a leader when he played for the Packers. He opitimized the definition of a franchise player. When he left he ruined his legacy and it has followed through with his play. He alone ended the Jets season with his foxhole passes and careless decision making. he is no legend, Bradshaw is a legend. Anyone remember his induction speech? That was class. He gave all of the credit to his teammates. Farve can't hold a candle to Bradshaw. I wish Brett and T.O. would just go play catch in Brett's back yard and let the NFL be free of the individual spotlight distractions!
I've been a packer fan for 50 years and I understand the desire Brett has to keep playing, and I can't call last year playing because the team was awful and they had noone to catch what he threw, and they blamed him for everything that was wrong. There was no backup at all. I just think he is at a loss to know what to do with himself next because all he knows is football. He just loves the game so much. Plowing a Mississippi field all day just doesn't appeal to me, does it to you?
I remember watching the Packers and the Bears since back in the late 50's and early 60's - my dad loved those two teams. I was born in Chicago and raised in the midwest - I'm a midwestern girl at heart and still love my Bears - even if they don't always win. Brett Favre was a great quarterback - but his time is over. He should have gone out at the top of his game and called it a day. He has more money than he will ever need. Maybe he should buy a franchise of his own - that would give him something to do with his time. Brett - be proud of your football history - but it is time to move on to something else.
Just another professional jock with an ego problem. He should remain retired, even the players on his last team say he should remain retired, he is not the QB he once was. It's time he moves on.
Sfcret, you're right. Hall of Fame quarterback? Absolutely. No doubt he was once one of the best in the game. Maybe one of the best ever. But he's stayed too long, and his publicity-seeking melodramatics are just painful to watch. He's milking his legacy for all it's worth.
I think the next time we see Brett should be the day he's inducted into the Hall. In Packer green and gold. Without having spent a year in Minnesota.
It isn't about Brett. It is about whether NFL football is about money or about sport. For example, consider Michael Vick. Favre is past his prime, certainly, but that hasn't stopped many others.
Perhaps one of the best filters through which to view Favre is that he loves football. Hard to fault him on that, isn't it?
Unfortunately, yes, it does hurt Farve. I think it's now come down to his ego and pride. Farve should've retired a few years ago, perhaps right after they lost to the Giants in the NFC Championship. Instead of simply letting go and getting on with his life (and waiting to get into the HOF on the first ballet--he still will, it'll just take longer), he's now in the same boat as Willie Mays and Michael Jordan, with Farve determined to try to create his own boat in wishywashy-ness. I think it's going to take a bone/head-jarring takle from a ferocious blitzing linebacker to knock some sense into him--or a career-ending injury from said same tackle, to finally make him retire.
You are all a bunch of hypocrites to critisize him. What all you people are upset with him about is the very thing you yourselves would do if you were in his position, do everything you can to get the most money possible so you could have the best standard of living acheivable.
You need to read the posts a bit more carefully before you start name-calling. No one has an issue with him playing. The issue is with the constant drama. He thinks the world is waiting on his decision, and the more he flip-flops, the more attention-and money-he'll get. And unfortunately for the fans, he's right. Why has he retired and un-retired countless times in the last 2 years? This is NOT about football. Or what's best for the game. It's all about Brett.
All the guy wants to do is play ball, isn't that what it is all about you all forget that!!! You are being selfish by wanting what you want for him not what he wants. Back off ...
Not at all. If anyone ever told any of you to stop or quit something that you didnt feel you should, you wouldnt embrace their comments either. If a man wants to play football and can still make the team. Then let him do it. Who are any of us to tell him not play. Everyone is a critic when they're behind their monitor.
He just wants to be in the limelight, as he doesn't care what team he's on and doesn't care about the other players. I'm not surprised he's back as he just cares & thinks about himself only, as he sure is not a Team Player! I so hope when the Vikings play the Packers, the Packers really give him a great sack so then, he will be out of the game forever.
He should have stayed retired after finishing with the Packers and then would have had a Great Legacy but now, it's just a joke! As he can't stand watching everyone play and he's not, he is just acting like a spoiled brat!
It doesn't diminish his on field accomplishments, but it does affect how I feel about him as a person. I used to think his lack of in state appearances came from a sense of humility. Now I'm pretty sure he was just a selfish a-hole.
the problem, you really do not know him you are guessing about him so you have a lcak of respect for him and he really is a humble guy just wanting to play ball so much for what you really know! now whoi is the selfish a .......
Farve gets more credit than he deserves and is no more than a good journeyman NFL quarterback. Sure over his 18 or so seasons (2nd most in history as starting quarterback he completed more passes than any before, but he also threw more interceptions than anyone, and his touchdown ratio to interceptions is almost equal,. Great, Farve is not, and he should retire while most still think he belongs in the Hall of Fame
I can understand how a person can't walk away from the sport that he loves, but how many more times are we going to hear Faver say that he miss the sound of the crowd? You know it and I know it, it is all about money and ego. Always was and always will be.
you have other players who have committed crime and in jail and come back and everyone wants to be so forgiving, Brett committed no crime and compared to alot of players isn't even getting only a modest amount... what is the difference??? Why is everyone so down on him... if he can come back and play hard and good and put that drive back in a team then all for him.
And your statement PROVES your a redneck idiot that knows nothing about the game.
Why can't he play because he loves the game, and it is all he as ever done. Clearly Minnesota thinks he has the talent.
I could do without all the drama and media bull$#%@, but anyone who watched Favre play, understands the talent, heart, and drive that makes him one of the all time greats.
Remember Joe Montana playing for the Chiefs? I don't but does that make him less than great?
I bet Vick is happy about this. Might take a little of the attention of him for a change. LOL

He is feeling good, still is good, and deserves to play.
OMG, i am sick of this clown! I hope John Madden and Corncheeser can stay out of it and retired as well!

BTW...go Giants!

Looks eerily similar to Johnny Unitas playing his last days with the San Diego Chargers.

As a Viking fan, it's like having Hitler become President. I will be taking massive amounts of Zoloft.
I'd hate to be the guy who sells those "Favre swallows" t-shirts outside the Metrodome. He's probably stuck with a lot of inventory.
