I gave up being a fan of "professional" sports when these darlings could not control the drug use and they became criminally over paid. Unfortunately some of the products I buy probably pay endorsements to these "professionals" so what can I do? Professional atheltes = Professional politicians. Same kind of crooks, different line of work.
Personally I think Vick should take up cage fighting. That appears to be his deep perverted interest.
People on here keep talking about role models and how this is a bad image for kids, but it's that part of your job as a parent to talk to them? Teach them that if you do something bad, you pay for it and learn from it, and then you come back and hopefully live life differently. Let's not pass judgement on the man before you even see how he acts. He may very well end up a good man. Secondly, yes..football is a game and it is a business...Don't shame an organization because they signed a great talent that paid his debt to society. Worry about your own lives and what God may judge you on instead of Vick's transgressions.
The creep received a very LIGHT sentence for the tragically, disgusting crimes he committed. The NFL is making a huge mistake by reinstating him. I hope the crowds show their outrage wherever he plays. The dogs he killed didn't have a second chance; only those that miraculously survived the torture.

Vick didn't make a "bad" choice...he did the dogfighting for 7 years and bankrolled it.

I'll certainly be finding every single sponsor that supports Eagles TV air time and I'll boycott them - loudly. Michael Vick is scum. He was born scum and he'll die that way. And no, I'm not feeling real Christian right now. I'm thinking of those tortured dogs and the pain and suffering they endured. I think of the poor abused dogs that are now in rescue - some of them in foster homes for life because of the damage Vick inflicted on them. There ARE some things more important than football and money and the life of a single pup is one of them. May you rot in hell Michael Vick.

People go into debt to save a dogs life, putting their families in financial stress just to save an animal. Get real. You are a human, not a dog. you live in a society of humans. There are humans in your neighborhood, in your state, in your country, and in your world that could use the type of attention you give to these dogs.
Its fine to like dogs, but when it comes down to it, if you have one chance, are you going to save a dog or save a person?

They are also living breathing things just like humans - they feel love - they feel pain - they are one of God's creatures just as we are. They actually have more loyalty to those that they love than many humans have. So, yes, there are people (myself included) who feel that they should be treated as we would treat one of our human loved ones.
If we go from God's point of view, animals are below humans. He made them to be subservient, to be food, and to be used as sacrifices in his name. You cant argue the "they are Gods creatures" line and then go 100% against what he wanted to humans and animals.
Dogs are great. In fact one of my best friends is a dog! If you want to bring God into this, well yes He gave man dominion over the animals, but would ask for an accounting of their life blood.
If Vick loves fighting so much, why is not that cretin leaving football and becoming a cage fighter?
Seriously, all of the people voting no are criticisizing Vick's character - this should be about the Eagles. Vick deserves another chance...but I don't think the Eagles are the best destination, especially after they kept trying to reaffirm Kolb in his abilities as a back-up and future starter.
Vick deserves another chance? Pete Rose committed a far less crime than Vick and he was banned for life and still hasn't been admitted to the HOF.

I was just making the comparison that professional sports are wishy washy when it comes to what crimes they'll punish and what crimes they won't. Gambling is a harmless vice, it doesn't injure or kill anyone, like Vick's crimes did.

If Vick and throw a football better than most people in this country, Vick will play. This is NOT a surprise, people. You knew this was coming, it was just a matter of who took the bait, and there were a LOT of fish at the line. Eagles lucked out.

We have no system to vindicate dogs in our society. Vick isnt going to be doing anything with animals, so there is no danger to them.
But boycott the NFL all you want. The real fans can keep this going JUST FINE without you. Boycotting sponsors will do little to help. They will lose a LOT more revenue by pulling their ads than by keeping them. The Super Bowl is the biggest TV event of the year. Do you think somebody is going to pass up that TV spot over Mike Vick and some dogs? Get real.

not according the court of law. The US judicial system (thank god) does not equate animal life with human life, so killing one does not carry the same weight as killing the other. And like I said, that sucks for Pete Rose.
How about we compare it to Leonard Little - a fellow football player who killed a fellow human being. Little's deal: 90 days in Jail and 8 week suspension from Football. Nobody talks about that at all...nobody had problems with him playing then, nor now, a decade later.

So...yes...humans are superior and with that comes moral obligations. If a human is going to act like an animal then in my view he or she is actually inferior to animal because a human has the capacity to reason and; therefore, know right from wrong. As the saying goes....you can tell a person's true character by the way they treat children and animals.
If we were going by judging character by how people treat animals, a LOT LESS people would be held in such high regard in America. I am not one of those who is calling for his death. I personally don't believe in the "eye for an eye" thing. I do not even wish for anything bad to happen to the man. I just can't abide those who act like or comment that what he did wasn't that bad because they were "just dogs" or try to dminish what they went thru. He is going to have to live with the fact of what he did every day (and by the way, he was not alone in this but he is the high profile, public figure which is why he is being singled out) and people are not going to let him forget it or go back to a normal life because there are many like me who are dog and cat lovers and think they are worth fighting for. As the ads say...since they can't speak we will be their voice.
P.S. and...just so you know, I don't just feel that way about animals. I also feel the same about children, the elderly and those who are physically and/or mentally challenged. They are also the most helpless and vulnerable and need someone to speak up for them.

But for people to be so outspoken about dogs and cats, which anywhere else would be dinner for tonight and tomorrow, and not give two hoots about fellow humans is insane to me. What a silly defense. I dotn care what a person has done, there genetic makeup does not change. They are still 100% human. I dont care how nice or smart a dog is, it is still 100% dog. A human life is ALWAYS worth more than a dogs life.

Like so many before him, he's apologizing profusely because (1) he got caught (2) it's in his financial best interest to do so (3) it's in the financial best interest of others that he does so.
What kind of a message do we send our children, other countries... ourselves! ... if this guy can slaughter innocent animals and return to the limelight as if nothing happened. "He did his time" say some. That may satisfy the legal system. I have a MORAL issue with him returning to a place of prominence. He can go about making a living -- OUT of the spotlight.
