The very absurd statement that was made stating that vick done his time and should be allowed a second chance, makes me wonder why ALL convicted felons are not allowed a second chance. People get out of prison everyday in this country and are put out on the street with no real opportunities for employment and cannot play football or dunk a basketball and resort back to the only occupation they have ever known. The very nature of vick's crime suggest a demented mind and all efforts should be made to boycott the Eagles football team.
I dont know about you guys but Vick troubles are not over. He is still in great debt & this maybe the best part of his punishment. He should have to donate 90% of his money to dog shelters. i guess 10 percent should be enough to keep him alive.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I find the arguement that others have done the same or worse very disturbing. So what? It's still wrong. Many people are quick to overlook serious character flaws as long as they get their strokes. Flexing your morality because a guy is a great athelete is weak. Not knowing what he did was wrong is even weaker. As so many of you have said, this is business. As a good American, I'll cast my vote by not patronizing the NFL or the Eagles' sponsors. When the Eagles come to town, I'll be out there protesting. This is free enterprise at its best. We all have a right to decide what to watch or buy, and don't need justification. Whether Vick loses his job is immaterial to me, but anyone associated with him won't get one thin dime of my money. The consequences of bad behavior are not always dished out by the criminal justice system.
The eagles mad a great choice and to those who voted no for Mike Vick....hahahahaha your voice didn't count so go cry a river, who in the he!! cares. Vicks the Man. Stop worrying about Vick and worry about the football player who beat the dog poop out of his wife.....I quess you all forgot all about him.....right! Well I didn't. Oh and by the way....I going to get me a Mike Vick Jersey tonight! I'll grab a few extra's incase some of you hates decide to jump on the Eagles ban waggon.....I'll be waiting.
I am many things, a dog lover, a dog owner, a proud Philly native, and die-hard trash talkin' green bleeding EAGLES fan! I HATE what MV did, yet there is a human being behind the media circus, and it's time to allow him to make the most of this opportunity or prove himself unworthy. If MV disgraces himself, where can he go? There will be no third chance!
To All the dog lovers on this forum, those who used words like "mutilate", and "torture", to describe what we all agree were heinous acts - do you eat burgers, steaks, or chicken? Check out the book "The Ethic of What We Eat", and ask yourself why if you only speak out about dogs yet are silent about the inhumane treatment of defenseless animals in the beef and poultry industries of the U.S. - note: I'm not a vegan, but I had to educate myself about the bigger picture.
To all of the contributers who elevate man above animals - if I told you that the father of our country ordered his officers to shoot down hundreds of unarmed human beings like dogs (men, women, young children and babies) because they were fleeing to the British vessels in a desperate bid to be free, would you rethink your perception of this man as a stellar composite of ethics, morality, and strength of character, or would you label him as a mass murderer? Would you balance that act against the positive things he did in his life and call him a hero at the end of the day?
There is never a need to rationalize or or make exceptions for cruel and immoral treatment of animals or men. I say that the worse injustice is from people who fail to see the big picture and speak out against injustice in all it forms!
Everyone's so hostile to vick for his crimes against dogs, but nobody seems to be as hard on themselves for their sins against God. It'd be interesting to see how many people would be begging for their jobs to be reinstated after they were caught lusting in their hearts after a man or woman who's not their spouse, after they were caught thinking lofty thoughts of themselves rather than humbling themselves to the gospel of Christ, after they were caught lying, after they were caught delighting in profanity and obscene things on TV at night. It is true, everyone loves mercy when it's for them. What baffles me is the hypocrisy of it all: men can do drugs, divorce their wives (and call them and treat them LIKE dogs, which BTW are LESSER than humans) and the same people who sneer at Vick would sin against God to be impressed by these athletes vs being impressed with God. Gee, and people say Christians are hypocrites!
I am all for second chances, but this guy was given a 2 million dollar contract before proving anything. All the things he is planning on doing will always be doubted by me, because people will say/do whatever for 2 million dollars. He should have been kept out of the NFL for some period of time at least to see what he would do without being offered any chance of being in the NFL. Now we will never know if it is because he is remorseful, or if it is because he just wanted back in the NFL, with his huge pay day once again. It just isn't fair to the animals, or the animal lovers.
I speak from experience; I went to prison for a couple of years for drug possession. So, I do believe in second chances, but nobody instantly offered me a second chance right out of prison. I had to spend a period of time without any drug charges, or any type of arrest for that matter. After some time of staying clean doors began to open slightly for me, and someone finally took a chance on me. The point is that I had help from family members while I proved to myself, and others that I could stay clean. When I had some time under my belt I was able to go to potential employers, and say look I was in prison, but this is what I have done since. I did community service(not forced, and not promised anything if I did it), I stayed clean, I went to meetings, I got letters of reccomendation from parole officers because I proved myself to them, and my community. Michael Vick had to do none of this prior to being offered the contract, and that is what I have an issue with. If someone said I'll give you 2 million dollars if you do some commercials for the Humane Society for free, you would do it. He should have had to prove himself first.

I just wanted to say that I have quit watching the NFL, because it was the NFL commisioner who allowed Michael Vick back in the NFL. I can't really blame the Eagles for picking him up, afterall he is a fairly good quarterback. It's the NFL authorities who should be held responsible, so I am done with the NFL. I can get by with college ball. I reiterate; Michael Vick should have to prove himself worthy of being let back into the NFL. He would say whatever it takes to get back in, and to do a few free commercials for the Humane Society in my opinion just isn't enough. He should have been down there cleaning up dog crap, and kennels, as well as grooming. After a year, or so with no offer from the NFL, if he is still at it, then by all means offer him something. To wave that contract out there and then say do this means we'll never know his reasons for doing it, right?

What about Sarah Palin with her arms buried in a moose carcass. Was that a Christian act?
