- Pitino tells police he paid for woman's abortionWoman is accused of trying to extort Louisville coach for $10 million
What's so immoral about it? You have Senators, Congressmen and Governor's engaging in these supposedly immoral acts, but, yet, you want to hold Coach P to a higher level?!
While he was unfaithful to his wife, he still has to answer to her, however, it is often that either the male or female that have engaged in such activity. No one has the right to try to extort money from someone just because they are successful. Perhaps this woman should have thought about the repurcussions before she had sex with someone. I'm under the impression that she lied about the supposed pregnacy, just to extort money from Coach P. As most people know, sooner or later, the truth will come out. Either sex isn't very good at hiding their guilt, especially, if you care anything at all for the person that was on the receiving end of such infidelity.
I hold the Senators, Congressmen and whoever just as accountable. The Coach isn't held to "a higher level" he's just as low as these snakes. What's immoral is that he cheated on his wife and embarassed his family by being selfish and stupid. yes, I do think differently of him. By now in his career he should be a whole lot smarter and able to see what a mistake like this could do to him, his career and his family.
It IS IMMORAL. Thats the problem with society now. Fools think just because politicians and movie stars "do it" than its OK which is why you see so many illegitimate kids w/o Dads who won't be MEN and take responsibility for their actions. Many of those congressmen / politicians also RESIGNED which is what "coach P" needs to do. He has hurt U of L, his players, and especially his wife and his poor kids. He needs to resign and get his life and family in order first before returning to coaching.
The fact that the AD is behind him shows his lack of integrity as well.
UL can't really fire him, but he should resign.
I couldn't agree more with B-1271009. The old cliche that two wrongs don't make it right is still a true statement. The trouble with society today is that no one wants to hold to any standards, especially if one of hte people involved is rich and/or powerful. Money and fame seem to negate anything assoicated with the consquences of poor behavior. Both Pitino and Mrs. sypher should be punished and punished severely.
Also, what kind of sleaze bag is Tim Sypher? If he knows his boss had sex with his wife and continues to work with him and then carries lists of demands to Pitino, he has to be gutless, unloving or caring, and an inexcusible example of a man to his kids, his family and to society.
go vols. are you a gutless, unloving or caring, and an inexcusable example of a person? do you devote most of your time in the pursuit of money/material gain. to help the poor, right? what do you use as the standard? one of the ten commandments? break one today? or do you only break the little ones. they don't call fouls on the basketball court for immorality!!!! most players are disciplined for illegal activity, not for knocking up your dau......
Coach P is a great coach and leader for young people. So he made a mistake....geez people he is HUMAN and we all fall short of the glory of God sometimes. He does have rules and standards for his team but that's because he expects a devel of excellence and behavior from his team that Louisville can be proud of, the same as he did for the Kentucky Wildcats when he was in Lexington. The one thing people should remember is: Even as Jesus was dying at the hands of those who didn't believe in Him, He asked that they be forgiven. Forgiveness is the grandest show of respect and love for your fellowman. Coach P has given Kentucky a lot of things to be proud of and I think the good he has done for this state far outweighs the bad judgment that he made. A real fan and friend would stand at his side and hold him up not kick him when he is down. Coach P....you have my vote. You are still the greatest Coach ever!!!
Forgive yes, we all have sinned, but there needs to be accountability...there is a difference. He needs to take responsibility and resign especially as a leader of young men and get his life in order. Integrity first.
If he wasn't winning, the tune would be different.
Coach P is and has always been a great coach, but he has also proven that he's just another horn-dog whose brain is located in his crotch. He needs to resign before he hurts the UofL program even more. His decision to remain head coach is a selfish act. Everyone knows why he brought in ...Willard.......as an assistant, last Spring, so resign and let Ralph coach. Rick has no credibility with recruits at this point. He's done. Stick a fork in him.
who really cares? there's enough sleaze to go around. why should he be any different?
I can't believe you guys give this man a pass. Yes, he had sex with another woman. That wrong, but it happens. Yes, he obviously portrays himself as a religous, catholic man. He is suppose to be setting strong moral standards for young men. Not only did he cheat on his wife, it was unprotected sex and he screwed a man's wife, who has worked for him for many years. He brought him from the Celtics to Louisville. He must have some sort of relationship with him. That's just wrong. And, it's not like he was having sex with a 25 year old. She was 43 at the time. A 43 year old that has already had 4 children. He already had that at home. That's just wrong.
I cannot believe that so many are excusing such an amoral act. I have always been such a big fan and was devastated when he left UK but now I see that we Wildcat fans are better off. And to the one who commented about how Congressmen do the same thing, shame on you, that never makes adultry ok and that attitude is why our country is heading down the wrong road. My prayers are with the innocent victims in this, both spouses and the children. As a devote Christian I will never again support Pitino. My heart is breaking, thought he was better than that! I can forgive but can't forget. And to the other woman, shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!
As a devout Christian, you really should understand that you're only reading bits and pieces of a story, that frankly, is none of your business and certainly doesn't lend for you to pass judgment on this man or woman. What Pitino did or did not do is between his family, the Sypher family, and God. There isn't a single person posting on this website, or any other for that matter, that doesn't have something from their past they'd be embarassed about if made public, whether or not you personally justify it as a "lesser offense". People make mistakes, some bigger than others, and we live in a horrible world when people are so quick to make judgments and completely write someone off. Just because he slipped, doesn't mean its a continual habit, doesn't mean he can't still serve as a good role model for how to overcome a fall, and doesn't mean that he deserves such critism. I do not know Pitino or Sypher personally, and, therefore, I have no true idea of the type of people they are and the types of lives they lead. I suggest you all realize the same.
I thought the bible said don't gossip. You're on a website, gossiping. The bible also says do not pass judgement... You're on a website, passing judgement. The bible also says to love people regardless of their actions. Yet, you're on a website, making perfectly clear that you will never again support him.
But yeah... you're so much better than him for cheating.
Beginning largely with the Bill Clinton era, we have pretty much become accustomed to this type of behavior from people with influence, power, and opportunity. Infidelity has been going on since the beginning ot time, but Bill sort of made it acceptable behavior to many.
Just what Louisville needs as an example for their students....win games is OK, knock up a women, pay for her abortion and cheat on your wife. But there will be those that care only about a game and winning which makes them losers along with Pitino
Pitino demands excellence of his players on the floor and off the floor. He and the team represent the University 24/7 and he demands that they do nothing to tarnish the image of the institution with discipline, loyalty and morality. The man at best committed adultry and at worst rape. He betrayed his wife, family, friends, and fans. He never could keep his zipper up and now he has been caught. He often speaks of his best friend that perished during 9/11. That was his wife's brother. I'm sure he would be very proud of Rick.... A player would be dismissed and so should he!
I think both parties are at fault here. I believe that Mr. Pitino's actions are a disgrace and he gave no thought to his family or the consequences of his actions. I feel that no matter if you're a political, sports figure you need to take responsiblity for your actions and stop thinking about only yourself. Mr. Pitino needs to do much soul searching. I would like to know if he has ever cheated on his wife before and how would we know if that information is accurate. I used to this that Mr. Pitiono was a good role model for his players but after this incident that has changed drastically. Mr. Pitino needs to find a new career.
The word "Shame" doesn't exist in this country, so it's no surprise really. I wonder if it was worth all the pain to his wife and family?
you know, I actually feel sorry for the guy. This is a heavy price to pay for infidelity.
What a dirtbag. What he did was so wrong on so many levels it's hard to describe. He cheated on his wife. He embarassed his kids. He aborted a human life for no other reason than to save his reputation. He certainly has the resources to care for a child. For someone to excuse this action by saying look at all the others in similar or more responsible positions who have done the same thing speaks volumes about the state of our society. He happens to be a leader of young men and has set a terrible example for them and has completely lost any credibility to talk to them about anything other than basketball. He should be fired-but he won't be.
Beginning largely with the Bill Clinton era???
This sort of ummm "acceptable" behavior started longbefore Bill Clinton was even born! A married man, a Catholic, with supposedly strong moral values, responsible for teaching young men high moral standards was just another hyprocrite!
This behavior is unacceptable any way you slice it. Yes, the woman is a Whackjob, but He just couldnt say NO! Now look where that has gotten him!
Gee Dawn, what if you caught your husband slamming some gal behind your back? Aborted the baby too. Real classy stuff.
Hey, no problem, he's not regular folk like us, he's a great sports coach, like politicians who cheat on their wives, it's OK, they are better than average folk, and we need politicians and sports heroes. (Insert sarcasm!) "Beginning with Bill Clinton?" You really can't be serious, right? You think men cheating on their wives began with Bill Clinton? Talk about ignorance!
LOL!!!
C'mon give the guy a break. She took him for a "ride" he didn't anticipate. Being in
the same age bracket and the media, I can see it happening... Might have done
the same thing. Never been a fan of U L, but HANG IN THERE RICK. The good folks
will stick with ya... The rest: screw'em!

What a disappointment! He lied...and the woman just wanted money. Now guess what?? The WIFE will get all the money. Should have kept it in your pants buddy!
This kind of behavior had been rumored about Coach Pitino for years, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was very disappointed, but not surprised to hear his womanizing ways confirmed. It's bad enough that he cheated on his wife, but the way that he did it made it even worse. He was in his friend's restaurant after closing hours with some whacked out, nobody that he just met? How low class! I've always been a big fan of the coach, and will still fondly remember all the great things he did at UK. I will never be able to look at him the same way again.
did I read this right? She knew she was pregnant after TWO weeks and the baby had to be his???? And he paid her???? Either he is a moron or there is more here than meets the eye. Exthortion; yes but this was either not the first time or there is some truth to her allegations.

Pitino-a leader for 18 year-old kids, acted immorally. If his players err in judgement in the least they risk eligibility. Coach lost nada
