Yes, but he'll have to keep pitching and not retire early like he has hinted he may do. Changing leagues and going to St. Louis may not help either.

Ron Guidry won 170, has 3 twenty game season, won Cy Young, struck out 18 in one game, won 2 World series and dominated the AL before he got hurt. He never got close.

130 wins is not enough. Too many pitchers that dominated in their day are not in.

Mark Buehlre is real good, dominates, needs to stay healthy and get 200 wins.

I agree completely with dob. For pitchers the bar is extremely high and he would have to win at least 200 games before he would be considered. There are a lot of pitchers out there that have a world series ring that aren't going and I don't think it can be based off of two games.

There can't possibly be anyone other than Chicago fans voting yes for this. His numbers are NO WAY good enough to merit HOF consideration. A perfect game is a great career highlight, and he is in elite company, but mediocre career stats and one perfect game aren't gonna do it. The HOF is for the best of the best, not the best of the average.

I say definetly, however can somebody tell me how many pitchers have a no-hitter and a perfect game under their belt? Buehrle is now in a group of only 18 in history, I think the HOF can make room.

I am a Sox Fan. He needs to win more games before he would get serious consideration.

What is more doable is that he is a Cy Young Candidate this year. He increased his chances dramatically. He is the best pitcher on a team that put itself back in pennant race. If the Sox make playoffs, Buerhle deserves a shot a Cy Young award. 50 to 60 more wins on a team that makes the playoffs, would likely get him in HOF.

Mark Buehrle's 132 wins is the most among active pitchers age 30 and under. Consider the nearest competition, big names C.C. Sabathia (126 wins @ 28 years of age) and Johan Santana (120 wins @ 30 years of age). Despite the lack of press, Buehrle has set the standard of pitching consistency for nearly a decade with double digit wins and a 3.78 ERA in an AL hitters park since 2001.

If Buehrle pitches another consistent 5-6 seasons and surpasses 200 wins, he will make the hall of fame. Not too bad for a guy drafted in the 38th round.

Most jump to the yes decision but thats more the allstar league lets reserve hall of fame for truely impressive players. Instance... Mariano Rivera (not a speller) no! Smoltz more on track. Heck I remember Mike Cameron hitting 4 home runs in 1 game... hes not a hall of famer.

I was there, and hall or no hall when you, Koufax, and Cy Young all accomplish the same thing in a career you are in rare company.

and, Johnny VanderMeer, pitched two consecutive no-hitters, that doesn't mean he gets in the HOF, Denny Moyer has a WS ring and 250+ wins but won't make the Hall.

It is to soon to say. he may have a drop off down the road that can ruin his chances. Think of Don Mattingly, early in his career he was considered a shoe in only to be an outsider looking in later in his career.

Does anybody voting here actually know the Baseball Hall of Fame. You have to win close to 300 games to be even considered for the hall. Orel Hershiser won 204 games. He has the longest consecutive scoreless inning streak of 59 innings. That is a one person class all to himself and he didnt even come close to the hall of fame. Those voting yes need to hang it up. In 10 years you might can ask this question again.

Much too early to know. He has a long way to go before he becomes a hall of fame pitcher.

He's good, but not great. Has he won a Cy Young Award? Where has he finished in MVP voting? David Cone had some good stats and he's no in the hall of fame. Dale Murphy won two MVP's and he's not in the hall of fame. Derek Lowe was an allstar as a closer and as a starter, he has a no-hitter, and won a World Series ring and I would not confust his for a Hall of Famer.

He pitched an unbelieveable game and has terrific numbers, but let's not mistake Mr. Buehrle's career as being Hall of Fame worthy.

Whomever commented that many obscure pitchers have had perfect games (only 18 total) doesn't know their history. Nearly every pitcher that completed a perfect game was considered a top tier pitcher of their time (Randy Johnson, David Cone, David Wells, Dennis Martinez, Tom Browning, Catfish Hunter, Koufax, Larsen, Bunning, etc....the list goes on - )

That said, one game, or one ring, doesn't get you in the Hall. In this day and age, 300 wins will be next to impossible, so that shouldn't be the benchmark. I think Buerhle needs to pitch into his late 30's with some consistency to be considered, however.

Okay everyone who says "NO".... do you not understand the question? They're not asking if you think his stats today are good enough for the Hall of Fame. Of course they're not; Buerhle hasn't been in the majors long enough yet. Of COURSE if the voting were today he wouldn't deserve to be in. Duh. The question isn't "will he make it to the HoF with his numbers today?" The question is, when his career is over, with the NUMBERS HE WILL HAVE WHEN HE RETIRES, will Buerhle make it in the Hall of Fame? That's the real question. Of course 130 wins isn't enough. Again, duh. But when he retires in 10 years or so, he WILL have over 200 wins, probably close to 300. As he matures further, his ERA WILL drop down closer to 3.0 (the ERA today is heavily weighted by his high numbers in early years). And my guess is he WILL have at least one more no-hitter and SEVERAL seasons of 20+ wins. Again, we're talking about what kind of stats he will have when he retires, not the numbers he has today. And when he retires, it will be a no-brainer that his name will be in the Hall of Fame.

Yes, I am a White Sox fan of 40 years and yes I am used to the team getting the short end of public opinion, demeaned, dismissed and, generally speaking, ignored over the years. but hey, as least White Sox fans aren't boorish self-important snotheads like Red Sox fans who think wearing a red "B" makes them genetically superior to everyone else.
