Mike, your backhanded insults towards the former President and Rush Limbaugh add nothing to the story. Stick to writing about sports and leave the Republican-bashing to your buddies down the hall in the "news" department.
This is nothing but the useual Tiger gets all the bad breaks, and everyone else has the best luck in the world crap. Reporting like this is also used to set up the "miracle" Tiger come back when the rest of the field collapses and lets him walk over their bodies to the finish line. I don't see you writeing articles about how Tiger has a whole bunch of non-finishers in this generation to play against, and that if he played 30 years ago he would be Tiger Who instead of Tiger Woods. Say it like it is... its not that Woods is the best player ever, its the Woods is playing when there are no other great players.
I generally like your writeing Mike... but this kinda of one sided article is kinda sad to see.
Funny, no one ever seems to mention the draw when it adversely affects other golfers. In fact 30 players who started in the same morning draw finished the first round ahead of Woods........That means he didn't play well. Case closed.
Rational, I agree with you. Wanting to get away from politics for a moment and read a story about the open and Tiger Woods you get hit with this political crap. Is there no end to how one sidded NBC is? What a joke this writer is.
This is what happens when you let a two-bit political hack try to write a sports story. I guess you didnt have room for "the greens put a choke-hold on Tiger like a water-boarded Gitmo detainee".
Is Mike Celizic the new pen-name for Keith Olbermann.
This article is a good reason why NBC should'nt cover a major golf tournament. CBS does an extraordinary job with the Masters and ABC does an excellent job with the British Open.
My question is...why did the defending champion have such a lousy tee time? Shouldn't Tiger have been one of the last to start (meaning he would'nt have played at all on Thursday) instead of one of the first?
I guess you forgot to apply your own reasoning. If the conditions get so bad that one golfer can't make up strokes whos to say other golfers won't loose them. Are you that much of a dim wit.

Who cares !
The writing here (grammar, spelling, syntax, attempts at prose, etc.) is atrocious. Was it hurried or is this par.
