Manny has been way off base for many years. He has never hustled and only cares about himself. Now that he is a proven "drugger", its time for him to shape up and act like an adult. Kids need solid and positive role models. Manny misses that mark and many more. Message to Manny: Cut your hair, shave daily, take the chew out of your mouth, move your butt on the field and at least pretend to act humble knowing that in the midst of a deep resession you and many like you still get paid millions for play a "game".

As long as Bud Selig's continues to make the All Star Game the home field advantage for the World Series, then why shouldn't Manny go. MLB is a farce. This article contains at least two very questionable statements. First, the author assumes Dodger fans are (or will be) stuffing the ballot box for Manny. Those I know (myself included) would instead vote for Pierre. Yes, it is silly for Manny to be considered for the All-Star Game, but don't blame Dodger fans for that. Blame those who wrote the PED suspension rules.

Second, the author implies that the Dodgers are succeeding only because they are playing inferior teams in the NL West. True, there are some ugly records in the NL West, and apart from the Dodgers, the other four teams collectively are 15 games under .500. Notice, though, that the Dodgers are 23-8 against the division. Could it be that the Dodgers--near the tops in most batting and pitching team stats--are pretty good? Also, consider the records the NL West teams have against NL East and NL Central opponents--those numbers are not so bad at all. NL West teams are 29-21 against the NL East and 23-28 against the NL Central, collectively 52-49. Take out the Dodgers and it is still 41-42.

The Dodgers are 8-3 against the NL East and 3-4 against the NL Central. All but four of those games for the Dodgers came after Manny's suspension, so without Manny they are 7-3 against the NL East (at Phillies, Marlins; home against Mets and Nationals) and 2-2 against the NL Central (at Cubs). That is 9-5 outside the division post-Manny, or .642. Their overall winning percentage is .673. I would hardly call that "tread[ing] water."

Manny should not play the ASG. Now, you need to question, why would fans vote him the starter on the team? He hasn't played to earn his way on the team. That would be throwing a vote away and a spot for a deserving player. Being voted as a starter is a priviledge, an honor. You have to play your way onto the team. This IS Not a popularity contest a k a American Idol. Where is the integrity of the game. You have to respect the tenets of the game. Using illegal drugs is a violation, if that is what he used. He was banned for 50 games. A third of the season. Let a player who played in those 50 games and performed well, be voted in.

I hope he makes it in, just to see people squirm. And I'm not an apologist for cheaters. I think Bonds should be in prison.

If you are going to give the fans the vote - you should abide by it. The best performing player does not always win in a fan-vote. If you want an all-star team made of the best players then you probably need to let the coaches or players themselves do the voting.

Manny is a total jerk. he has crapped on the game and the fans. its the stupid youth vote carrying this idiot. I blame the parents as much as anybody. I remember when the yanks were on Channel 11 and they had problems getting enough advertising between innings. The old announcers entertained the fans with stories. Then they took the best games off 11 and then no more free yankee baseball games. Then no more free yankee radio games. Do I miss it. HELL NO! I'm a Dodger fan, and I think it's a disgrace that Manny's name even is on the All-Star ballot! Cheaters are cheaters, no matter what uniform they wear. Amen.

Hey folks....Manny has been suspended for 50 BASEBALL games, that includes the All Star Game, because it is a BASEBALL game. If A-Rod, Bonds, or anyone else who did the steriod thing got that type of suspension, and it went as far as the All Star Game, they should not be allowed to play either. It is as simple as that.

After the way he betrayed his own teammates in Boston to try to blackmail the team into extending his contract, it amazes me that anyone could vote for him. What's wrong with people?
