My best rememberance of Isiah is a college game against Iowa where he sucker punched a 7 footer and then ran away. That was an early indicator of his character. FIU made a foolish mistake if they could have had Tim Hardaway.
Absolutely not. He ran the Knicks into the ground, he ran the CBA into the ground, what makes anyone think he won't do the same thing to FIU?
disgusting that this proven bad role model is now going to be paid by a University to prove that values and education today are secondary at best to winning at all costs. I am apalled and hope the school never wins another game in any sport
Isiah has had problems, I admit. But he was such a gifted player; such a tenacious player. Even though its a risk, he could be reborn in college ball. FIU could heal him, and he could inspire them to great things.
Remember the "Peter Principle"? A great player but that does not mean he can evaluate and motivate other talent. He will iimpress and intimidate young high school and college players but will never motive or lead them successfully year after year.
Isiah the coach is nowhere near Isiah the player. His skills as a player covered up his deficiencies. He was a laughing stock in New York. His arrogance and lack of coaching ability was tiresome.
Remember when the Bulls eliminated them in the finals and IT just walked straight into the locker without even congratulating them? Poor sportsmanship and absolute lack of class.
I feel Isiah will be ok. He understands the game and College kids will be more excited to play for him opposed to Pro ballers. Everybody make mistakes including us who have opinions but the truth is he is propbably in the best posistion to revive his integrity and coaching for free is a good indicator of his personaility and how much he loves the game. Everyone deserves a second chance and who cares he punched a 7 footer and ran.

As long as good judgment is a factor then IT will never be successful as a coach at any level.
