Would you want Terrell Owens on your NFL team?
The Cowboys released Terrell Owens on Wednesday night. Now that the second-leading receiver in NFL history is a free agent, would you want him on your team?
T.O. is ok, but they ought to cut Romo...as in, cut his balls off!
#1 - Thu Mar 5, 2009 12:48 AM ESTT.O should go to the 49ers. They need a receiver and were a 2 yard run(against the cardinals) away from being tied with Arizona for the nfc west last year. With Gore, V davis, Shawn Hill the 49ers will be nfc west champs in 2009 watch out!!
TO already ruined the 49ers once, you wanna give him another chance to do it again?
Romo has none - best of luck to you T.O., you have some great years ahead, take your new team to the Bowl, Baby!!!
Great talent, but far too disruptive. On balance, a negative to the Cowboys, or to ANY team.
#2 - Thu Mar 5, 2009 12:53 AM ESTWhen one begans to play sports, it is known that the Coach is in charge of everything. Today, every position on teams has a specific Coach. They are there for a reason. They see things a player can't see. They train and develop players. As a player, you don't scream and yell and have temper tantrums on a Coach or QB on Nat'l TV. The player is not larger than the team. Dallas is the Yankees of football. All those high priced players and not even "The Playoffs". The steroids and the HGH make the player think he is better than he really is. T.O. dropped a lot of passes and so did Rice. Just like somebody will take Vick, somebody will take T.O.. Maybe he goes back to the 49ers(He dogged Garcia) or maybe back to Philly(He dogged the QB there also). Maybe he will go to the Ravens(who he said he would play for before the Cowboys). T.O. needs some time on a Psych Ward. You don't cry when somebody talks about the QB being in Mexico with his girl. You don't cry when you overdose on something and get put in a hospital. This guy is an Emotional RollerCoaster. One day screaming at the QB,the next day crying on Nat'l TV for the same QB. The HGH and the steroids have fried this Dudes mind. I see him in jail or shot by Cops.

I doubt that you ever seriously played any sport (meaning you were actually good and had a chance to win instead maybe just being a part of the cheering section on the bench). You put a lot on the playing field, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Its totally understandable and applaudable for him to put some much into job and share his emotions with the world to see...without shame! THE MAN
you're right on the money about TO( the Cry Baby). He is an emotional wreck and highly immature. he is a cancer to all teams he's been in. Early detection is always the best solution. U cut him loose before he spreads thru your team.
T.O. is a superb athlete, but a horrendous team player. Perhaps he should explore opportunities to excel in some sort of individual athletic endeavor like golf, cliff diving or bull fighting.

But you cannot deny that the guy wanted to win and has a lot of heart. He was not and is not the only problem on the Dallas Cowboys.
I think they did the wrong thing.

In return he gives 110% effort when he is on the football field....The NFL wants players without personality....that stay in the box and do what the people in charge say....Name one other receiver that is more dedicated than T.O., definitely wasn't playing for the $$$$....The media ran T.O. out of Dallas and Philly....The Cowboys have 2 bigger egos than T.O., Jerry Jones.....and Tony Romo.....less see how well they do this year...!!!!!
T.O's whole attitude was ME, ME ME! Football is a TEAM sport. Remember the saying, "there is no I in TEAM!" T.O won't come out of this badly. Who wouldn't like to get paid to do nothing? They still have to honor their contract. Too bad for Jerry Jones.

I honestly think that some of you "so called" sports people are out of you mind. I am a Patriots fan, Basketball, Baseball, and hockey fan and any other sport Boston has. I am saying that to say, I pray and hope that New England Patriots have a talk with T.O. There never be another T.O. same as there will never be an Allen Iverson. I wish Boston would go after T.O. They know how to interact with personnalities like a T.O. On the other hand with reference to Dallas, Romo should be traded somewhere out of the United States. He is one of the worst QB in the league. What the league needs most is more BLACK QB's. You know it and I know it. We have a Black President now, what is the problem. White qb's have made more mistakes than anyone else I've seen in any sport. Shame on the NFL. Shame, Shame! T.O. needs that football mosst of the time. GIVE IT TO HIM MANNNNNNN! and stop the hating!

TO's stats are better than the entire Cowboys receivers core combined. Romo is a loser having never won a playoff game. As he says repeatedly he's "just out there having fun." That's unacceptable. He's at work. Wade Philips, also a loser, is often bewildered on the sidelines -- visually stunned at times about what's happening on the field. He's never won a playoff game. Jason Garrett also a loser. He has no playoff wins and and no team took a shot at making him a head coach. His interviews clearly indicated that he offers nothing special.
The Cowboys have decided with this move that they are more interested in a placid locker room of highly paid losers than in winning another championship. TO may not land on a championship caliber team, but he can take comfort in the fact that he is not leaving a championship caliber team.
I have a question for Jerry Jones. What now? The problem isn't solved. The team is still terrible.
#9 - Thu Mar 5, 2009 1:39 AM ESTHis stats are useless, he only has stats because there is a line that starts it all with good blocking followed by running backs who can run to set up the pass followed by a quarterback whoever they are who can read a defense and make the right decision in a split second. These receivers are nothing but a small part of a big pitcher
League minimum and an open contract with clause that cuts instantly whenever the coach decides with no team penalty. Yup would take then.

#11 - Thu Mar 5, 2009 2:07 AM ESTAll season long, i watched in agony as I saw the Cowboy team go down in flames. No one on the team was strong enough to tell T.O. to shut up and play. So he kept up his little games. If you live in Dallas you saw that the gamemanship was weekly. Even when the Cowboys won and he would say, "I'm a team player. All I care is about the wins. The fact that I caught 4 passes for 38 yards is not important", you knew, that the fact that he knew his catches and yards WAS IMPORTANT! And he began messing with Romo's head 6 games into the year. And Romo was never the same. Between Jessica and T.O., I think Romo was emotionally drained. He had to constantly be thinking, "can my girlfriend and T.O. both stay out of the media for 1 frickin' week?"
In the end even in Dallas, he was too much. Too selfish, too narrowminded, too shallow and too arrogant. He's an incredible talent and outside of Jerry Rice, had a legitimate chance of being considered perhaps the second best wide receiver ever. But that will never happen, because i would rather have Lynn Swann, Michael Irvin, Tim Brown, John Stallworth, Drew Pearson, and others on my team before T.O.. T.O. needs to open up the history book and read up on the countless other pros who wasted so much talent.

Either drug his speech centers, muzzle him, get the other players to ignore him, get him a trailer lockerroom, or hire a sports psychologist to "companion" with him during the season. A great offensive weapon. The Eagles lost their offensive punch when they let him go. The 49ers were never the same after they traded T.O. The Cowboys will be lost without the "nut". Whoever gets him and gets him under control get's some scoring power and one of the more interesting story sources in the NFL. This is a screwball who wants to play.
