Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in 2003, when he was playing with the Texas Rangers. He reportedly used banned substances during his 2001, 2002 and 2003 seasons in Texas.
Will Alex Rodriguez's apology for using a banned substance lessen any media or public backlash?

Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio.........
Steroids and other PEDs existed during DiMaggio's time, are we 100% certain that he never used them, or any of his contemporaries?
The difference then was the media protected the legacy of the players and now the media is filth that loves bringing them down!
One year ban on SteroRod. All his income to inner city schools; let's turn ARod into a teacher for one single season.
Name all the other players and lets ban all of them, oh wait then we wouldn't have enough players to watch. We need to move on. We cheered them on while turning a blind eye either crucify all of them or let it go.
I think he's still lying, how come he's doesn't know what kind of steroids he had?
MLB, must demand that he'll return all those MVP wards, just as IOC, did with Marion Jones.
The admission was a good start and he is being a lot smarter than others who opted the denial approach. But the media and fans won't let go, and they should not, unless he is able to go beyond the excuses he provided, which at this time should be viewed as self-serving and the logical thing to do considering the fiasco others facing similar circumstances have encountered. What he does from hereon will be a strong factor whether he will be admitted to the Hall of Fame. Being a Yankee fan, I like Alex but like many others, I am very disappointed although not utterly surprised. I am just hoping and praying that Alex is sincere about thinking beyond himself and does the right thing. It would be a shame if he votes himself out of the Hall of Fame.
Thanks, Alex for clearing things up. Now, folks, let’s move on – to the real villains here.
There are three – Don Fehr, Bud Selig, and sports media. Here’s my perspective on each. Don Fehr and his union are 50% of the problem. They fought against any type of testing and penalties, even in the face of evidence showing the detrimental effects of steroid use. Fehr directed that these anonymous tests and the players’ names be retained instead of destroyed. Bud Selig and the MLB owners are 30% of the problem. They were blinded by the stats and ticket sales and they chose to ignore the problem, even in the face of the evidence. The third villain is the sports media. They are, to me, the main issue now. Shining a light on the problem is one thing, but they continue to focus upon Alex Rodriguez for being one of 104 players who had positive tests before there were league prohibitions against it. The media is missing the point. Or, maybe they’re having fun. Setting opinions of his sincerity aside, remember that he fessed up. That’s good. Praise him for doing so. Begin the clamor for the other 103 names. And, now shine the light on the first two villains because those folks are much more culpable than the players.
The problem is the Sports Writers all have their own agenda and it is making a name for themselves. The was a day the Sports Writers would protect the players and in return were able to hang out with them and live a good life. Now they are mostly scum that are out for themselves looking for the next dirt they can feed off of.
When will someone actually ask Roid Rod a tough question. It sure didn't come from ESPN. What a load of bilige Roid-Rod gave for an answer. No wonder I stopped watching baseball. A Team owner is the Commish. That's like leaving a rat to guard the cheese. Alex is another waste. Bring back Ruth,Mantle, Mays and Maris.
How can anyone with a pulse really give a sh*t? Put food on my table, a roof over my head, or get me a decent job that will take care of both...then maybe, just maybe I'll care. Not likely, though. Look, I realize some individuals probably will lose some sleep over this steroids deal. But there are some of us who struggle just to pay the bills, let alone just to get through one day to the next. And how will my opinion, one way or the other, on steroids have any real meaning in my life when there are more important issues to deal with? Like, who's going to lift my couch up so I can reach underneath it to get the chewtoy for my dog, Stump? C'mon...I've already thrown myself off a 35-storey building, hoping this steroid issue would just go away. Someone help me lift that same damn building up so I can crawl underneath it and just maybe it'll crush the thought of steroids right out of me! Or, come to think of it...let go of the doggone couch when I'm far enough underneath it! I've also attempted to poll the pigeons I feed at the park regarding the steroids issue...and surprisingly, quite a few of them actually do give a sh*t. Sometimes, more than once! You wanna know what's really scary? One of those pigeons actually looks like Curt Schilling!
Had Selena Roberts elected NOT to pursue this scoop, she would NOT have been doing her job. If Selena Roberts had decided to IGNORE this story, she would have been trampled by the stampede of other reporters, journalists, or writers clamoring to make a name for themselves with this tip. Can't "blame" someone for doing what he/she is supposed to do, can you? The blame? Without a source, there can be no messenger.
Who leaked A-Rod's name? Who else knows any or all the additional ballplayers who are supposedly on the list? All I know is if someone violated any agenda tagged with the words, "privacy" or "eyes-only" or anything even remotely related to those words, I would want to know just who that weasel was, especially if my name, or my relatives name was on it. I know there are several law firms just waiting for their opportunity to pounce. God help the dumbass who leaked any amount of information from this confidential list. And perhaps the Angels might want to watch over anyone else who might be discovered--the plaintiffs will have a huge payday!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to throw myself off the building across the street from the building I threw myself off earlier. It's a few storeys higher...
At this precise moment, I need information on something much more important than MLB athletes who have used steroids.
Does anyone know the area code and phone number of the nearest bicycle pump repair shop in Dexter, New York?
For one thing, he had no other choice, he has been watching the Bonds/Clemens fiasco. But I don't think he's telling the whole truth!! Once a player admits to using performance enhancing drugs, they should be disqualified from Hall of Fame consideration. I don't want to hear that "it wasn't against baseball's rules at the time" argument. Steriods have been illiegal in the US since the early 90's!!! Last I saw, MLB is in the US, so he broke the law!! His whole career is in question. I just remember what players looked like in the 60's and 70's. Nowadays I don't know if these guys are ballplayers or competing in the Mr. America contest.
Its Over.If Alec and the other Afrauds are alloud to continue playing then I am all done watching the game.I love Baseball and have for 63 years.Good bye.
Players should be paid for their talent, natural talent that is not steriod talent. Its fraud to take money like Arod and the rest of the steroid user do.Jail is what other people who commit fraud get.why are these players any different. If Selig does not do something Im through with it.Ive been a fan for 63 years and now its over. With heavy tears I say GOODBY.
You are right. People have ruined the name of baseball, especially, Clemmons and now A-Rod. Don't you know that there are people who prefer baseball over football. I don't see any investigating football or basketball. Lets let our young people have some heros. At least you don't see these players with green and orange hair, and most of them have a clean cut appearance, not like the other sports. So lets get off the stick and leave the American past time alone.
to all the hypocrites out there - last time I looked he is still a better player than 3/4 of baseball with a scarf tied over his eyes - give him a break - what about all the other players on the list - why was only his name released?? I would like to see the full list of 104 players then we could all just say "move on - nothing to see here" keep moving - I am so tired of it all - if I hear another story about steroid use in the past - I will shut off the tv - if someone is doing it now that is another story - but forget it. I think he is just a prime target and folks are just jealous of this guy - no matter what he does he will never get credit for whatever good he does. I am rooting for the guy this year and hope he breaks all kinds of records then what will the hall of fame committee do? your record is your record - I don't care if there was an asterisk next to it or what - how many of you have gone to work drunk or high at least once in your life? I have and some of my best work was done when I had a little buzz on - forgiveness instead of hatred and jealousy.
So how is A-Rod a better guy than Conseco, who at least told the truth first? His apology is just a strategy for damage control. There should be asterisks by all numbers and stats on players who used or are suspected of using steroids(where there's smoke their's fire, Barry, Mark , Roger)
Maris record for HR's for 162 games still stands. No one has been able to do it without heavy drugs. And HE got the asterisk. Selig is a pussy. All records from suspected 'roid users should have asterisks by them, and the players banned from the hall. Simple.
Flod-"I did some of my best work when I had a buzz on. " Uh, Flod, that's the point...
thats sound great , now let make him give back all the money that he made then let see if that hits him like he is some remoursefull all off a sudden, the real deal is he got forced to tell the truth when he was cornered like a rat,so now he is trying to save face. he striaght suck, he told everyone that he never used roids when all the time he was, he straight sucks! give back the money , give it back.
oh did i say he sucks onc more! there u have it
