Nobody cares more about his image and place in baseball history than this narcissistic nitwit. These revelations definitely will affect him on the field.
When do we get the teary eyed press conference where he apologies and throws his trainer or wife or coach or owner under the bus? Wait, are we talking about A-Rod or Clemens...wait, does it matter?
He is above it all. A guy who makes the biggest salary in pro sports is not going to let this affect him. His ego will simply not allow it. Great individual stats...but still no ring although that may change this year.
Let's be honest--I do not believe that Rodriguez really cares what people think-It's all about monetarry gains and perhaps "H of F" induction--Other than that, I seriously doubt that Rodriguez will care about the opinions of others; add to that the fact that many "baseball fans" really do not concern themselves with the fact that some athletes "cheat" to gain an advantage over others--That's just the way it is.

I think Ken Griffey Jr is the only clean one in the era of the mega-home run hitter. He basically swung for a homer every time, and never looked freakishly big. All these other guys Pudge Rodriquez, McGwire, Canseco, Giambi, Bonds, Sosa, Clemens, Brady Anderson - all filled out their uniforms EVERYWHERE like they were filled with air. You just don't get like that without roids. They're bigger than clean body builders when they don't have nearly the time or energy to be that dedicated to weight lifting.especially when they are playing baseball 8 months of the year.
It will prove to be a stat-reducing distraction but only because the MEDIA will make it so.

I believe that A. Rod or any other player including Bonds and Clements should forfeit any awards recieved etc, and in the case of illegal activity they should face criminal charges.

Lately (last 20 years) Baseball is a joke. I use to love it in the era of, Willie Mays, Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle, etc. It meant something back then. Not now, because it's all about the money.

How is taking steroids cheating anymore than eating a bunch of hog testicles as part of a nutrition regimen? Mountain oysters and other testicles were the grandular ingredients to athletes trying to bolster their performance levels before the modern era. What this so-called scandal reveals is the pathetic ignorance in the USA over drugs and sex. With hormones its combined into one form. Remember, at first there was mention of Insulin as an anabolic agent. Do Diabetic now have an advantage? If you don't know about the anabolic effects of insulin then either read up on it or shut up on this issue. The US government is scapegoating professional athletes as a misdirection as they loot us of what is really essential in our lives. And the trials of Barry Bonds is psychic payback for Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron. Until Roger Clemnes name came up nobody mentioned the proliferation of white pitchers who could throw 100+ mph fastballs.
A nation of Fools and cowards. The cowards are those sports physicians and pharmacists with informed knowledge who are not coming forward in defense of these athletes facing allegations from a bunch of sedate senile jealous windbags in Congress and a group of loudmouth Know-nothings who nonetheless have a belief and opinion on hormonal agents.
Here's the solution, castrate all male athletes and allow only these Geldings to compete like some race horses. That why, all players would have only trace amounts of any testosterone in their syste,. it's really a shame. Like him or hate him, A-Rod was everyone's hope for baseball. He was the heir-apparent to the Home Run Record that nobody wants Barry Bonds to own. Alex is a weird guy and does a lot of strange things, but the one thing everybody would say is, "well, at least he doesn't do steriods".

Does Caffeine apply to the loose definition of 'performance enhancing drugs?' And why not? Does an athlete who takes a cup of coffee perform better than those who do not? What about the same athlete who performs one day caffeine free and then another with caffeine?
Why isn't coffee on the menu of criminally insane Congress trying to root out 'performance enhancing' drugs in sports? And why did they stop consideration of Insulin? Sen. Frist, why don't you explain the anabolic properties of Insulin? Caffeine? Really?! OK, if that is the best you can do, more power to you but know this- A-Rod brought this upon himself by saying he never use steroids. As long as professional athletes want the publicity and the glory, they are subject to public scrutiny. Unfortunately, these athletes put themselves at risk for what is really a short time of glory in the span of a normal life span. I don't think it is a coincidence that many athletes are dying at a relatively young age. Fewer athletes are living into their 70's or 80's anymore. With the advance of medicine, why are so many dying in their 40's or 50's? There has to be a reason and I think that reason is the widespread use of ANY kind of performance enhancing drug. If people want to put their lives at risk, that is their business, but i do not have to spend my hard earned money supporting them. It is really sad since we as a nation of obese people ought to see them as examples of how to maintain a healthy life style. Instead, all many people can see if the drugs.

As for Alex, he may actually be happy he got caught. Now he doesn't have the pressure of being baseball's savior. We all know how Alex is under pressure. If you took his yearly salary and gave it to him in single dollar bills he still wouldn't be able to cover and hide from this.
