What is the big deal? He is on well deserved time off. It isn't as though he was smoking non-stop or smoking harder drugs or drinking and driving. Are those who are critizing him totally pure ofi illeagle or non-prescribed drugs?

Michael was charged with drinking and driving in 2004 and used the EXACT same apology saying he was wrong and sorry and would learn from his mistake. So that makes him a drunk driver, a pothead and a LIAR because he obviously didn't intend to learn anything from his mistake. Good for Kelloggs, so what's stopping Speedo?

Kellogg's was right to drop him, just from a PR standpoint. Even if the exec's have smoked dope which no doubt they have, it's not public information, and they aren't the face selling a family product. This is ridiculous. Our new Secretary of Treasury get's off on not paying taxes and he is going to head the Treasury! Politicians of all parties admit to it, including our new President. give a break. why are people defending him? look, i don't care what he does. the problem that i have is that if it was allen iversion, or a nba player it would have been a outrage by some people calling in talk radio. all i am saying is that black athletes are judge differently than white athletes. you might not want to hear it or talk about it, but it's true.

A past president smoked pot and lied, saying he never inhaled. Supposedly, over half of the country voted for the new president, and he admitted to smoking pot, but now everyone wants to prosecute an athlete for the same thing. Hey, maybe he'll be the next president. There is a thought, encourage your kids to try pot, telling them they could grow up to be the next president.

So, a kid acted like a kid. Why are they making such a big deal about this? Michael didn't really have a childhood. He has been swimming all of his life. He doesn't get to do the things that all kids do (and some experiment with drugs or sex). He's human and we should all get over it. The ones who should be ashamed of themselves are the publication and photographer for wanting to knock him down a pedestal or two. Why do they feel the need to bring down our heroes? Does it make them feel superior to see someone like him acting human when we have dubbed him superhuman??

I for one think most all of this is blown out of proportion..... yeah, he's a role model, but was that what he wanted to be, or what everyone decided he should be? I was always under the impression that swimming was what mattered to him..... the endorsements etc were just the bonus. On top of that, I find it hard to believe that anyone, celebrity or not, can declare themselves perfect, everyone makes mistakes, but everyone isn't under a microscope the way that celebrities are.

Also, his contract with Kelloggs is up around this time anyway, so, did they actually drop him, or does the timing just make it seem that way? Most companies very often only carry a celebrity contract like that for a short period. It wouldn't be unusual for a company that big to have already moved onto the next big advertising push with some other celebrity trying to keep it "fresh and up-to-date".
