LeBron James followed up Kobe Bryant's 61 points on Monday in New York with a 52-point, near-triple-double effort against the Knicks on Wednesday.
Are you kidding? How many years does Kobe have left, as compared to LeBron? No brainer, Lebron on my team. Kobe may have had his day, but Lebron has so much left and it seems like it's just the beginning! Hang on Cleveland fans, it's comin'!

Kobe has at leats another 3 or more years in him, Lebron has 3 or more to grow up an then he can be in my team. Meanwhile hope he gets a ring so he can make it into my team, until such time....

Kobe would have never won 3 without Shaq daddy! If anything majority of those rings are cause of Shaq. Shaq won one without Kobe. If Shaq was in his prime and played with Lebron. They probably would have won 5 or more.

In a few years when LBJ has put in the years Kobe has and have championships will talk again. LBJ is good and he will be better 1 day, but he has to become more consistent all the way around.
When it all said and done everything Kobe will have done in his NBA career will be 2nd to Lebron. Just look at all the record Lebron has broken of Kobe already. Kobe is GREAT but 2nd to Lebron. Time will prove me right. Just like Michael vs. Bird

Kobe won 3 rings thanks to Shaq and Phil. What happened the years Kobe didn't have Phil, Shaq or Bynum/Gasol? That's right...they didn't even make the playoffs, and when they did with Phil back at the helm, they were out in the first round. If Kobe was THAT great, they would've made a run like LeBron did.
LeBron is definately my choice to build a team around. Now if Cleveland will actually build a team around him and West, they're going to be devastating.

No one can do things totally by themselves, lebron needs his team just as much, in fact more, than Kobe does. Kobe is the better player, MVP last year for a reason. The facts are Kobe did win 3 rings and Lebron won none.
AlanP hit the nail on the head! I'll give Kobe the fact that he is a great offensive player, and his defense is good too....but just compare stats from the beginning of their careers until Kobe's 6th season (this is LeBron's 6th season). You'll see LeBron is statistically better by a strong margin...in almost every category including field goal percentage. And the runs that LeBron has had with the cast around him...is far better than Kobe could dream of. Kobe needs multiple superstars on his team to win. We also can't forget that Lebron just turned 24 years old compared to Kobe's 30...and Kobe has been in the league for what, 12 years now? So to even compare LeBron to "the world's greatest player" with 6 more years of experience says a lot for the kid from Ohio. So argue now, but stats and numbers hold thier own weight. And when all is said and done, the King will be the King of NBA history and lore. By the way, without Shaq, Kobe wouldn't be much more than Alan Iverson ever turned out to be....remember him? Great offensive player, good defense...one of the highest career scoring averages. AI and Kobe are one in the same...with the exception that one was lucky to play with the Shaq (and D-Wade can thank Shaq too, for what will be his only championship).

lebron can't match what kobe has. his only advantage is his size and strength. lebron couldn't do half the things kobe does if he was kobe's size. kobe will do more in the next 5 years than lebron will do in the next 10. i always tell people kobe is the new jordan and lebron is the new dominique. dominique was very dominant during his prime but never won a ring. lebron will be the same. lebron got to the finals when the east had the worst teams in it's history and got swept. kobe had to go through the suns, spurs, and mavs at their prime!

Lebron will not win a title in CLE with out another "superstar" simply said! as you said, he made it to the finals 2 years ago, but the east was really weak then. Kobe is just an all around better player and has more knowledge of the game then Lebron. However once LeBron gets that super star player wether its Howard, Stoudamire or Bosh etc....which he will get someone in 2010 with arguably the best free agency in history. At that point you my as well hand the title to him and his team

If Lebron was on the Lakers instead of Kobe they never would have lost to Detroit and Shaq would have still been there. Lebron is a better team mate then Kobe and he is a better all-around player. He almost single handely beat the Celtics last year. Kobe quit on the Lakers in the sixth game just like he quit on them against the suns a couple of years ago.

at the end of the day, lebron has taken a team that would be one of the very worst in the league without him, and made them into a title contender. kobe's got a much stronger supporting cast, even without bynum. what would happen if you stuck kobe on the cavs instead of lebron? my guess is they'd be pretty good, but not one of the top teams in the league.

Shaq needed Kobe and vice versa. Shaq's 4th ring...it was with Wade and another great coach in Pat Riley. This is not a 1 person game, it is a TEAM game. Jordan didn't win his six alone and nobody else in the history of the sport has either.
You also state James might do it with Delonte West. The operative word in your statement is MIGHT. He hasn't yet and until he does it is all speculation.
Kobe gets my vote. He is a proven winner and playing better, more unselfish ball than ever. His teammates say this on a nightly basis.

LeBron no doubt. At this stage of his career, Kobe couldn't touch LeBron's numbers and Kobe is behind on all meaningful stats now. All Kobe has over LeBron is a few rings that he wouldn't have at the same stage of his career without a stellar supporting cast

LeBron scores more, rebounds more, steals more, blocks more, has more assists, shoots for a higher percentage, and fould less. If rings are the only thing, I'd give it to Shaq before Kobe, but they are not, so LeBron gets my nod.

I noticed on many occasions where LeBron passes up that opportunity. Stats mean nothing if you can't deliver in the clutch. I don't know if there is a stat for that, but if there is, well I'm sure you get the picture - KOBE!
they came on different scenario and different needs of their team. career stats are not the basis. try this one: mvps, scoring champs, rings, all nba team, all defensive team, slam dunk, olympic honors, etc...
Supporting cast and championships aside, Kobe is still the better player. When Wilt the Stilt scored 100 points in a game, everyone thought he was the best, but his team still lost that game decades ago. In 2006, Kobe scored 81 points in a game, which the Lakers won. In today's league, mind you, the players are more athletic(LeBron being one) and more abundant. So I would say that it would be harder to score more in this day and age in the NBA. That point aside, I agree that LeBron is great throughout the game and Kobe is great in the 4th quarter. However, last I checked, Kobe plays in every single quarter just like LeBron. 'nuff said.
