Whiner of the Week: There's nothing like explaining a lifetime of failure by whining that it happened because you wanted to win. And when you do it at the Super Bowl, you've got a strong candidate for top dishonors here at WOW, coming to you live this week from beautiful Tampa.

I cant belive that we spend the money to watch these idiots
I will give the writer of this story props on the McNabb part of the story but the rest is crap! Reggie Miller is a whiner to think that the home crowd shouldn't cheer for the opposing team? I do not remember Jordan getting cheered at MSG...if he did tell me what game. Anquan Boldin is a whiner because he felt disrepected? He hasn't asked for money since the beginning of the season...he is angry because his role with the team is not what they said it was going to be. And Lane Kiffin is a whiner for telling a joke that got way overblown? Coaches do this all the time...let's not make a mountain out a mole hill for a story.
McNabb has always been a whiner. Miller's comments were a pointed commentary on how soft Knicks fans have become. As one who remembers the Pacers-Knicks rivalry of the 90's he's right.
Okay, I'm going to sound like a whiner here, but I agree with this week's winners. I come from a college- Eastern IL University- that has never been in anything national. I don't even hear of it being considered. And because of that, I can give a bleep bleep about March Madness and the Bowl games. There's 8000 colleges out there, and I'm only really caring about how my alma mater's doing. I'm much more interested in the pro teams, thank you very much.
(Yes, I censored myself, this is a public forum, and I'm not going to sully it.)
Sounds a bit ironic that the author of "WHINER OF THE WEEK" seems to be whinning about Bill Self and his comments on playing in such a large venue. I am guessing Self has a better sideline view than the author.
Bill Self's "whine" about the venue is correct. The author is whining about the complaint. Chipper Jone's "whine" seems like constructive criticism to me...
I think the author is the real Whiner of the Week!
Money or not, Bill Self is right. Who wants to watch a game in a stadium made for football? Its not about the experience of being there or even about the athletes, its about how much money the NCAA can make for THEMSELVES, NOT for all the participating schools. You live in an alternate universe if you think its not. The games should be held in basketball arena's plain and simple. It would be like watching football at a NASCAR location. Bigger is not always better, for the fans in this case.
Not sure why Armstrong made the list this week. Some guy shows up unannounced without clear identification and some how Armstrong is whining because he made the guy wait until proof of his identity is established.
Next time somebody rings your front door bell I'll just bet you'll invite him in without some ID and a clear understanding of what he wants.
To call Joe Frazier a whiner is a mistake.
Watch not only the fights but also the hype pre-fight. Then Ali trys to apologize to his son after the third and final fight, where was the gall of Ali then. Also Fraziers corner threw in the towel even after Joes protests. The man was blind in one eye and couldn't see out of the other yet still wanted to finish the fight. When anyone that calls him a whiner can do the same than you will have the right to label. Until then keep your mouth shut.
First, the article is not signed. Who is the author? It must be someone from above since he/she has slammed five magnificent athletes. The author did mention "not judging" didn't she/he? It is my guess the author is a consultant to the trash talking athletes that seem to dominate what we used to know as sports.
Poor Ali, when he was pouring it on to Frazier everyone thought he was cute. Now that Frazier pours out his true feelings everyone calls him a whiner. BS, if Ali was strong enough to dish it out, he should, and his fans, be strong enough to take it.
Going back to the story about "whining"--complaining about Crosby and Orpik--get over it. Ovechkin is a cheap shot and dirty player and does want to hurt guys--on purpose--he should have been fined on his hit to Gonchar of the Pens....sounds like the idiot that wrote this is probably jealous that the Pens are beating the Caps fair and square and the Pens will win tomorrow night in Pittsburgh and be done with them......again. Crosby whining? Give me a break. He is a nice guy and a class act.
James Harrison has my vote for "Whiner of the Year - 2009"!
What a friggin idiot!!!!
Just goes to show you, even endless money cannot increase one's IQ. Anyway, who caeres if this clown is missing......? I won't even notice, nor will I miss any sleep over it!
I grew up and spent most of my life in western PA.
I am a Steelers fan (and Pirates and Pitt).
Don't please make us look as dumb as you seem to be, ok H?
OF COURSE Arizonas would go to the White house if they won the big one, doesn't everybody know that?
Going there is a privilege, for winners, not a right.
First off, I would feel a whole lot better about America if its citizens supported their local amateur sports rather than NFL, NBA and MLB franchises, what with all their sleaze and thuggery.
Secondly, I'm disgusted every time I hear a beat writer whine when a player won't talk to him or her. Get your nose out of their jocks, scribes!
Exactly, just like any critic, he eats off of someone else's hard work and sweat. Then if the player has a bad game (less sweat), or doesn't drop enough morsels to eat, he himself pouts and whines in an article about how the player is a whiner. Kinda ironic I would say. "Professional" critics are shameless scum in my opinion.
Its wonderful to see the ALMIGHTY fall all the way to the bottom. I hit bottom myself from time to time, but I am not worth a few million a POP. It's the ADAMIC syndrome all over again, God it's your fault for ORDAINING L/J'S, to play basket ball FOR MILLIONS, and losing.
Shut up Celzic. Jame doesn't have to do anything. Would you know ANYTHING about what it is like to get so close to an NBA championship and just not have enough to make it happen? That would be NO.
This is just you as a journalist rushing to "punish" LeBron for not speaking to other cronies like yourself after the game so they can ask their GENIUS questions like: "What happened" and "how does it feel" and "what will you do now".
No we don't know what it is like to get so close to an NBA championship and most of us don't know what it feels like to have our face on TV or have millions of dollars for that matter. So, if a basketball player can beat on his chest when he wins, then dam it he should walk out there with his head up high when he loses. The writer was right. I definitely don't want Mr. Roger's coaching my son. Dignity= win or lose
Lebron doesn't shame the game, he just shames himself. Multi-multi-millionaire and he can't face the music when he loses? Classless, that's all it is.
Mr James is SUPPOSED to represent the best of his sport.......MVP, fabulous player. The children of this country look up to him. It is inexcusable that he should demonstrate such poor sportsmanship. How dare he walk off the court in a huff without congratuating and shaking hands with the team that was, at this given moment, BETTER than his. He should be ashamed of himself!!
Over paid kid, win or lose.
Sounds like the biggest whiner is the author of this article!
How many people want to face the press right after the most disappointing day of their lives? If your fiance decides not to show up for the wedding, do you immediately want to sit down with the media and hold a press conference?
Let LeBron have some peace to reflect on his disappointment. He is under no obligation to placate the media.
Lebron is a 24 year old black male.
He's just a kid and we should give him a break.
Hell, we do it all the time with Obama, don't we?
LMFAO!!!
Lebron is still OK in my book.
LeBron is a kid, who should have went to college first. He is a great player but I can't blame him from not shaking hands, Larry Bird and Co. did it to the Pistons and the Pistons to the Bulls. Honestly its not a big deal if it was a lesser player it wouldn't even make this list.
How about a trip down memory lane? Does anyone recall how the Pistons wouldn't shake the hands of the Bulls when the Bulls broke through for the first time in the Eastern Conference Finals? The 'bad boys' of the NBA (as the Pistons were called at the time) were scorched by the media for being such poor sports. They were quoted in various articles at the time with disrespectful comments about the Bulls in an attempt to demean the accomplishments of Michael and Scottie and the rest of the champions of Chicago. Even today, sports commentators frequently bring up those events as an example of poor sportsmanship, and that's as it should be. From what I know about LeBron's actions, at least he didn't sink so low as Isaiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer. I remember Larry Bird taking Thomas to task more than once because of Thomas' less than respectful antics. I'm inclined to give LeBron James a pass on this one because as far as I know, he said nothing disrespectful about the Magic, and we also tend to forget just how young James is. Keep in mind, he came directly from high school to the pros. He didn't 'mature' in college before hitting the big time. He's still very young emotionally and intellectually. Let's see what the future for him brings and how he handles the challenges ahead of him before we pass final judgement.
