Did anyone else see the referee coming in waving his arms before the ball was snapped for the kneel down. Look at the tape. He is coming in from the top right. I think they were calling for the review and then everybody rushed on to the field. Uh well lets just let it go this time.
The officiating was horrible! The game was good but not great because of the officating. The Cards won 2 challenges against the officiating, so they received a "BONUS" challenge. That is a slap in the face to the officials because the Cards received the "Bonus" challenge. For instance when Warner was tackled and threw the first ball to the ground, that was an obvious throw. The job of the White hat is to watch the QB, nothing else, for his protection. The white hat in this game was HORRIBLE!!!
Also - There is no reason why Harrison should have been ejected for punching that guy on the ground!!!!
I have only one thing to say, the Steelers did not deserve that Superbowl win, and the officials need their eyes examined and check their pockets for a pay-off. That team is the rudest team I do believe I have watched play in a Super Bowl, Holmes should have been removed from the game, given a severe fine, and pay the player restitution for the beating he took. God forbid lets not forget about the African American coach, that is a pathetic excuse for a NFL Coach. The way you act and treat people I am surprised people want to admit your part of their color. Enjoy your win but always remember that you did not deserve it and the real winners here are the Cardinals. Holmes you need to be removed from the NFL indefinitely and also you need to be drug tested for steroids cause we all see the side effects, grow up and stay away from football you overgrown gorilla.
You must be some kind of mad man on steroids like your friend on the Steelers. People like you are a menace to society. Steroids are bad for you, get help now.
I am not a fan of either team, however, I like to watch the game for what it is, and cannot help rooting for the underdog team when they so deserve to be there. I just expect to see a good game and with unbiased officiating, but we all know that doesn't happen. Therefore, don't call holding at a crucial moment for one team and totally look the other way for the other team at a crucial moment. This is not a pre-season game to just turn a blind eye to, this game means everything to these guys (except for the ones in past SBs that seem to be paid off). There was a touchdown that was negated for the Seahawks a few years back, that by another other season game pre- or post- that by any standards was a legitimate touchdown and was totally taken away from the Seahawks. One of many miscalls. So therefore, just because we all have opinions, that doesn't make us gay - El Diablo!!!!
Watch what you say about me, you don't know me and further more who you calling a racist and a idiot? Look in the mirror and they have spell check on here dumba**.
Steelers were outplayed but they outlasted the Cardinals. If not for the brain fart at the end of the first half.........all the Steelers fans would be modeling their Pampers today. As for Harrison, what a waste of a great effort when he had to do a Mike Tyson (who is another poor excuse for a sportsman) on a defenseless, smaller player. I certainly hope the refs are enjoying their bonus checks from Mr Rooney today because they certainly deserved them. Harrison should have been tossed and the Cards should have had one more shot at the end zone.
The Cardinals may have finished 9-7 in the weakest division in the NFL but 3.5 teams fell asleep on them in the post season and they damn near pulled it off. Pittsburg was celebrating on the sidelines half way through the fourth quarter and turned sheet white a few minute later. They won yes but they were outplayed. Sometimes the best team doesn't necessarily always win. Lastnight was a good example of that.
In my opinion how can you walk away feeling like a winner when you know you did not win that game fairly. Neither of them teams were ones that I cheer for in regular season, but I just feel that Kurt Warner deserved that win and so did his team. They fought a good fight and they did not do all the things that the Steelers done and the umpires were to obvious of who they were rooting for. Anyway, I think in all fairness they should have looked at that last play alittle closer and Holmes should have been kicked out of the game and made to pay a fine for what he did, I think our football association is going to @!$%#, and NBC was given the the opportunity to host the Super Bowl but I would not give them that chance again next year cause that was piss poor coverage. Can the football association sleep with a guilt running through their veins and can the Steelers celebrate a win that should have never been? Enjoy, cause it will come back to haunt you and I hope Kurt Warner does not retire cause he needs to come back next year and show the Steelers what a true team player is and what a real NFL player should be. Good Luck Steelers, you all are a poor example of a true football team and your coach is no better.
I have to agree with many of the other posts. The officiating was bad. There should have been many more penalties called against the Cardinals. There were missed holding calls and at least one missed clipping call which should have been called against the Cardinals. Coach Tomlin, Mr Rooney, and the players on the team are class acts which deserve the title of World Champions.
Sad for the whole game, well for the fans with no vested interest in the game but expect a fair contest to have the officials look the other way on some penalties or not review one of the biggest calls of the game all in favor of the Steelers,, HARRISON PUNCHING A DOWN PLAYER! reminds one of a few years back Steelers vs Seahawks? I hope whatever station broadcasts the superbowls in future years gets some reduced price to broadcast it, since less fans actually will be interested after so many bad or missed calls,, seems the NFL decided who it favored by placing this crew on the field. The rest of the nation and fans do not want the officials to decide the games out come including the Pittsburg area ,I would guess they are tired of qustionable calls and having to defend the rings on BOTH thumbs as being ref helped
I live in Dallas and I heard clearly on the NBC telecast that the BOOTH DID REVIEW THE FUMBLE! Listen carefully to the telecast again. The Booth review clearly saw something that many missed at a first glance. Go watch it in very slow motion and you'll clearly see. Woodley got his hands on the football, before Warner had a foward throwing motion. Therefore, its a fumble, Pittsburgh's interception.
The booth did review the play and clearly saw THE FUMBLE! Many times, people miss the details, because plays unfold so fast. The ball was spinning away and down from Warner. It was blocked BEFORE a forward motion, making it a legal fumble.
“We confirmed it was a fumble,” said Pereira. “The replay assistant in the replay booth saw it was clearly a fumble. The ball got knocked loose and was rolling in his hand before it started forward. He has to have total control.”
Don't tell me that the Steelers are the only ones who played dirty. What about the holder getting tackled by a Cardinal's Adrian Wilson? A holder for crying out loud. Mitch Berger was completely defenseless. How the hell is that sportsmanlike conduct? That was just as dirty as the Steelers unsportsmanlike conduct. I'm not condoning it, just don't make the Cardinal's look like saints here. How bout the facemasking call on Rodgers-Cromartie? Dansby whistled for roughing the passer? Thats pretty illegal stuff too.
Either way, the Steelers owned the Cardinals. Its history now. Deal with it. Move on to post season!
The NFL obviously places a crew favorable to the team it wants to win in these games. The missed calls as well as the calls made to not review the incomplete pass at the end of the game makes us with no home team to route for ill from the favoritism. (yes i saw the seahawks game too) I only hope the broadcaster get reduced rates in the future for the smaller fan base to watch these homer games as not many outside Pittsburg will be interested in future games . I like especially the no calls on a 100 yard interception return, the no call on Harrison for pucnhing a down player and the double whammy of a late hit to the quarter back against the Cards while showing a block in the back on another Cards player during the replay. I would think even the Steelers are tired of having to justify the rings on BOTH thumbs.
Signed : you wont waste my Sundays next year Thanks
I'm fairly certain that there are more Steelers fans than Cardinals, so it would make economic sense to have "Steelers friendly" referees in that game. I mean, if the Cardinals had won, they wouldn't get as much World Champion t-shirt and hat revenue.
It's tough to explain to kids that "sports events" can end one way or another for reasons that have nothing to do with athleticism.
I live in Pennsylvania, and I knew more people that were rooting for the Cardinals. Everyone thought the Cardinals had a great story, so I believe that your assumption is false. The entire time leading up to the Superbowl, I've heard little besides bashing of the Steelers and praise of the Cardinals.
I'm a die hard Dolphins fan with nothing at stake for either the Cards or the Steelers, but that was the worst officiated game in NFL history. Guess NFL football is going the way of international soccer in controversial officiating. Only on word sums it up..SHAMEFUL.
HOLMES' RIGHT FOOT NEVER TOUCHED! The photo on the SI.com front page clearly shows that Santonio Holmes' right foot is obstructed from the field by his left foot. There was one replay shot down the sideline that clearly showed that his right foot never made contact until after his hand contacted the ground out of bounds! The officiating was lousy against the Cardinals all game long. The face mask call was especially egregious! There was no grab and there was no head turn associated with it. Nonetheless, except for Warner's boneheaded interception at the end of the first half, none of this woulda mattered. Take a knee Kurt, run a sneak, take a sack and you're in the HOF.
Oh Bob. Don't be purposefully dense. That picture is after he is falling. You saw the replays. You know it was a TD. You're doing the Cardinals no favors by spouting these fallacies.
There's also a Reuters picture (google for it) of the Rogers-Cromartie vs. Holmes facemask that I mentioned earler. Rogers-Cromartie's fingers were wrapped around Holmes' facemask. Holmes is stiffarming Rogers-Cromartie's helmet, not touching the facemask. 15 yard penalty...unless photos lie now, too?
Dude, I've watched it three times over and holmes' left hand hits out of bounds before his right foot ever touches. Get the sideline replay. It's not a TD. Ref's stole this one over and over again.
To tell the truth, I'm pretty much neutral on the two teams, they're both good stories. I just hate it when the refs screw it up. Harrison, by any definition of the rules and even to the incredulity of the announcer, should have been tossed for his actions. Defend that.
Millions of other people have watched it over and over and over and over as well. There are photographs, like the one I provided, that show both of Holmes' feet DOWN as he was catching the ball. Since he didn't bobble it, and had control of it the whole time, he is counted as having posession of it the second he has it caught in his hands. With both feet down. You're wrong. I'm sorry.
I don't need to defend James Harrison's behavior. He should have stayed cool, and he didn't, and he was wrong. But if you're going to complain about him not being tossed, why not complain about the Cardinal who chop blocked him a few plays prior, or the Cardinal who leveled the holder, Mitch Berger? It was a physical game, and lots of players lost their cool. Harrison's was caught on camera and focused on, but he was far from the only player who was overly aggressive and the team was penalized for it.
James Harrison, would-be Super Bowl MVP, is a Thug, got caught on TV committing a flagrant foul, and should have been Ejected!!!
The biggest story of this football game was the Ref's
Did anyone else see the referee coming in waving his arms before the ball was snapped for the kneel down. Look at the tape. He is coming in from the top right. I think they were calling for the review and then everybody rushed on to the field. Uh well lets just let it go this time.

Hey, racism and idiocy in one post. Surprise.
Whoa, this post makes no sense and is indefensibly racist. Good job.

You must be some kind of mad man on steroids like your friend on the Steelers. People like you are a menace to society. Steroids are bad for you, get help now.
I didn't care who won the game I just wanted to enjoy it. The ref's were terrible (way to many calls) and so was NBC's coverage.
I am not a fan of either team, however, I like to watch the game for what it is, and cannot help rooting for the underdog team when they so deserve to be there. I call them as I see them. You = racist idiot.
The color of the coach has nothing to do with anything. Racist.
And I assume you were trying to insinuate that James Harrison was on steroids, not Santonio Holmes. Idiot.
The facts are in.
They do have spell check, but in your case, they obviously don't have grammar check. (Nor do they have an IQ check at the door.)

Hey, racist idiot!
"did not do all the things that the Steelers done"
If you're going to comment on someone's spelling, you ought to be more careful about your grammar. Glass houses, buddy...
Very well said jshelfo. ; )

Tried to post a pic of harrision being strangle held and fask masked by the cardinal offense but I guess its not allowed.
Strangle hold.
Fask Mask happened when Warner was in the grasp and was able to get a forward motion the first time.
Neither were called by the officials.
